General Discussion / Re: Christian beliefs and discussion

It's... not entirely an inaccurate statement, though. If folks just kinda' tossed out everything that wasn't Streaker J, and junked stuff like the sword bit in the process, the bible probably would be better off. Much more clear message. Probably a fair bit more palatable, too.

Actually kinda' forgetting, but didn't Jefferson or someone in that group do a remix of the bible that kicked out basically everything metaphysical, or something along those lines? Anyone here read the thing?

Your life was a blessed life, filled with light. My condolences for helping to strip some of that from you :(

Would that none of the world knew of jack chick. It would be a brighter place. Assuming something even worse didn't take his place.

... tiru, that's Jack Chick. The man is bughumping insane. This is a person that would sodomize a squirrel if it somehow demonized the catholic church, and claim it was an order from god. Not... someone you can expect anything approaching rational contemplation from.

Well, the latter... isn't really there to deflect? Or something? With rationalization-style ones, the intent is to draw attention away from it, normalize it (in discourse, if not reality), make it more ignorable. With sexy-time ones, it's... really not. I mean, there's sorta' that for youngins, but... no one else. It's more wordplay -- playful in general, really -- euphemism than obfuscation euphemism. Or something. Hell, sexy-time euphemism can sometimes be more explicit than being explicit, amazingly. You don't really see that with conscience soothing euphemism.

That... is a damn fine point. I'll need to reconsider this.
Existence is the root cause of all ills.

... but nah, I'd say there's a difference between rationalization euphemism and "try to phrase it so the kids aren't boinking like monkeys the instant puberty kicks off" euphemism. Different sorts of goals, y'know?

Getting the odd urge to go play through Vision of the Future again. There's something about the thought of someone taking the concept of a Starcraft/Ranma 1/2 crossover campaign and then somehow spinning it out into one of the longest and best made set of custom campaigns Broodwar ever saw.

Seriously, 89 freaking maps split over four separate campaigns. That spawned from someone wanting to stick ranma characters into a starcraft map.

Other Games / Re: SALES Thread

Yeah... I'll just note going back and playing D3 is almost physically painful, now. The myriad little quality of life improvements add up to make popping back to play the older game an exercise in minor frustration. Not necessarily saying that's reason enough to get D4 (all the other reasons tally up to that), but...

... anyway, if you hold out for another while (year, whatever), there's a pretty good chance you'll be able to get it for better than 25% off. I think it's already had at least one sale below that price point. Illwinter getting away from shrapnel has been great for Dominions lovers' pocketbooks.

Yeah, at least around here they just check with the college. If you're applying to a college or whatever you'll probably have to get high school transcripts, but... pretty much no one looks at them beyond checking you graduated. Folks checking that sort of thing don't have particularly have the time to go over stuff that doesn't really matter to them, y'know?

No one really gives a hoot about high school once you're out of it. All the hullabaloo about doing this or that or any dozen things about high school best practices... almost entirely bullshit. The diploma is important. Your GPA is, maybe, important (generally only for scholarships and maybe grants -- the colleges themselves generally don't give a damn so long as you can pay them. The ones that do, jump in on a cheap community college and blow the GPA out the water there picking up your general education requirements.). Everything else? Barring scholarships with odd requirements (which don't care about anything except the requirements), not in the least.

16525
Yeaaah... about the only thing anyone in the US gives even half a shit about in regards to highschool is your GPA and maybe, marginally, your extracurriculars. Absent half the classes? Burnt the freaking school down? No one gives a damn so long as your GPA meets muster and you didn't catch a criminal charge. If anyone tells you someone is going to go back and check your high school records, there is a 95+% chance they are lying to you. The most the vast freaking majority of people are going to do is check GPA and whether you actually graduated. Everything else is pretty much entirely irrelevant.

Could have taken Meteoric Crash, but sadly it's only triggered by spells or mind attacks.
Minor point: Wyrmic's basically everything is a mind attack. Everything dragon related, at the least... if the tooltip says "is mind power" and it does damage, it qualifies. The biggest issue with meteoric crash (beyond qualifying for it) on a wyrmic is you're going to spend a lot of time turning the ground underneath you to lava. It'll very happily trigger off of things like ice claw, heh.

Yeah... I'd probably say the only classes that are going to be normally attracted to flexible combat are brawlers and ABs. Everyone else just doesn't have much in the way of incentive to use it. I mean, glove procs can be pretty nice, but... that's all you're really getting from it if you're not one of those two. Wyrmic after more damage would probably be better off with... a lot of things. Even carry the world or superpower would probably net you more overall dakka boost.

I think the big thing about it is it's flashy. Even if you're not actually getting much out of it, the glove procs are both noticeable enough and infrequent enough to both be attractive and not become boring. So people notice it, even if it's not really doing all that much.

Definitely wouldn't recommend it on higher difficulties, though, for pretty much anyone. Draconic will is generally your go-to, there, along with... one of the other defensive ones. D. Body, spine, whatever. Might even recommend temporal form if you're non-AM and fairly mono-type damage -- the staff doombringer I'm running on normal took it, both for the immunities and the ability to diversify damage on command. Wyrmic probably wouldn't hate windtouched speed -- passive +20% global speed is pretty nice... there's a bunch of stuff to take instead of flexible combat, basically :P

... though, to be fair to ghouls, while they are incredibly luck dependent to get out of the starter dungeon, if you can their tier 1 passive is incredibly attractive for the higher difficulties. Not being able to take more than half your max HP in a single hit is damn good when one of the major risks is being one-shot.

It's just the getting out, and surviving the global penalty...

E: And retch is also a guaranteed status stripper, which is very nice for classes that don't have access to such.

16529
To be fair, in this case, it should be fairly obvious either definition works. So... arguing about it is somewhat silly.

Also, yeah, probably better suited for the middle-east thread or somethin'. We're not even hearing about the judaic or christian theological consideration of islam, here, just distorted secular views (of islamic minorities, even!).

It's a shame there doesn't seem to be much in the way of imagery for the original gnolls...

And there are gnoles in P&P et al stuff, apparently. Just... not those ones.

Fakeedit: Vaguely ninja'd by immaterial. Probably yoinking the image from here. Wish there was something a bit more detailed :-\
