The idea that a ninja should be wearing day glo orange and shouted an obnoxious catchphrase never appealed to me when I was younger
That's actually been ran with pretty interestingly in some fanfiction, and if whats'is'face was a writer worth a damn whoever it was could have done some really interesting stuff with it. Urban camouflage and whatnot -- the point of ninja isn't necessarily to be hidden in the shadows, but instead to be hidden, regardless of where they are, including in a crowd. Naruto 'imself could have been trained as, y'know, urban infiltration, getting in with youth gangs, street folk, entertainers... all sorts of stuff.

Wozzname didn't go that route.

As for the assassination thing and whatnot, iirc it's mostly implied that it happened quite a lot. Just... offscreen. Whatever that critter's name was didn't particularly want to write about the interesting parts of the elemental nations worldbuilding >_>

... part of me is now wondering what the rules are regarding mid-term party change. I could sorta' see Obama letting out a great laugh, fell and terrible, and joining the republican party shortly after they achieve majority. Admittedly, something like half the republican party's brains would implode if that came to pass, but...

Doombringer... might. They're pretty beaty at the moment. Demonologist doesn't really get functional until 18+, and they might not be able to survive until that point on insane. They're more viable afterwards, but... getting there. Is problem.

Looks like medical marijuana is going to be legal in Florida tomorrow. Buncha' stuff still not in for the rest of it, looking at it, but it doesn't look like there's enough missing votes to tilt the decision the other direction, for that.

E: Actually, it might not have enough votes in favor to pass the 60% margin. Hrm.

Cheers, Feelgood.

Yeah, demonologist's biggest problem, it seems, is that they don't really get off the ground until level 18. But once they finally start off, they start off pretty damn hard. Hitting that third tier of seeds means you get things like goddamn Daelachs on tap (The 27th level one my elfologist has, has just shy of three freaking times my hp), functionally infinite vim (+3 per melee attack, per ring if desired, blighted path (which is actually second tier, but whatever), etc., etc., etc.), and a whole new ballpark of damage and whatnot. It's pretty crazy.

They're basically crap -- easily one of the worst classes -- until they hit that level 18. Then things start coming off the rails. Definitely looking forward to getting the rest of the seed outlay -- currently, my only next tier ones are for rings (daelach) and body (wretch titan, which is actually kinda' cruddy -- just incoming crit damage reduction).

@SG: Thus setting the stage for the tale of the Ten Year Election leading up to the ultimate choice of Jim Crow, the Pigeon. Who was a pigeon. The 2-4 year period afterwards would end up being the best years Oregon ever experienced. Tragically, Jim's reign will be cut short three months before reelection by a cat.

What happens when a demon/Satan messes with you?
The somewhat unkind response would be, "You do stuff the person talking about you doesn't like."

Like. Recently enough, I overheard someone saying a person had the devil in them... for inviting someone to lunch in the "wrong" manner. Most of the similar invocations I've heard, on the ground, on the subject are of roughly the same nature. It's less something with meaningful import than it is a way to dehumanize someone you dislike and make it more acceptable (to you) to treat them like shit/think of them unkindly/etc., basically.

Quite sure the theological answer to the question is rather different, but in practice I've found that sort of thing mostly to be an excuse to snipe at people. Is usually fairly petty, y'know? Occasionally you get it for heavier stuff (major psychological disturbance), but that... is usually because the people talking don't know psychology from a particularly malformed carrot.

Yeah, Britain's bonobo population is sadly unrepresented in the halls of politics.

Which is a shame, because a monkey hopping over the podium to hump their opponents face as a way to apologize for overstating a position would be amazing.

Yeah, there's something like... 5-6 hours before they close, here in FL. 8 pm eastern is the counting time. Still. Any fistfights or something? Gotta' be something interesting going on during the voting process. Maybe interesting things someone noted on the ballot, I'unno.

Ah ha ha ha why are we arguing about this on freaking election day in the US politics thread?

Can we get election stuff instead? Take the vote system wrangling to some other thread? Maybe? Please?

Eesh, demonologist goes a lot more smoothly when you net a decent shield early on. Sub-15 barkwood... helped. A lot. Among some other things. Character! Bit it once during the starting zone, but eh. It's almost shocking how much less trouble this one is having compared to my cornac, who I more or less abandoned at the same level (after it got wrecked by... the wretchling beast, I think*). Looking forward to getting better seeds, though. C'mon, level 18...

*This one dropped the eggsac summons and a 20th level dolleg on the beast and more or less rolled over it.

E: Woah. Blighted path. There goes any vim problems until stuff with mana clash starts popping up regularly. Also a nice painful beatstick effect. Nice.

E2: Well, that was the worst derth setup I've seen in a long time. No less than eight lightning Es within LoS of the initial opening to the inner town. Maaaay have panicked a little. Survived, but ow. Ow.

The last post made on this game.

I'll definitely +1 a general appreciation for it. For an alpha, it's quite nice. It also runs pretty smoothly off a flash drive, heh. Though the save system makes playing on the go somewhat... difficult.

Blazes if I know. I haven't noticed any ads or mentions of the guy. Most people are probably looking at the ballot going, "Who the hell is that?"

He mostly seems to want to set up a state-ran bank, insofar as I can tell from two minutes of half-arsed googling.

Y'know, I just now noticed we apparently have an iranian economist running for governor here in florida. Dude has zero chance of taking the race, but damn, that's some balls.

Given I'm not really sure whether I dislike Scott or Crist more, I may just throw away the guy a vote.

Also hey, legalization of medical marijuana on the ballot. Doesn't seem to be anything else interesting, though.
