... the little pie things one of the other house people bought are, apparently, made with booze syrup. Or at least a slow-acting alcohol or something like that.

Also excessive consumption can cause a laxative effect.

Sometimes, you read the info on a food product...

... and suddenly it is considerably less appealing.

I think I won't eat the laxative-booze apple pie, thank you.

Brawlers can defense tank, if it comes to that. And there's always resists and whatnot, which leather and cloth are actually better for, on average, from what I can recall.

But yeah, outside the higher difficulties offense > everything. Normal difficulty you can go really slim on defensive stats and get by pretty fine, in general, providing you hit hard enough.

do you honestly believe that religion was the first thing on every american settler's mind?
Full stop. Nope. Even with the revisionist bullshit trying to be pulled in the US, I'm well aware that religion was not the primary motivation for the vast majority of american settlers.

But Glowcat covered it pretty well. Even if it wasn't the primary motivation, that doesn't mean it wasn't a significant one. Doesn't help that, from what I've personally seen, most people using their religion to make excuses don't actually realize they're doing that -- they're just fitting their actions into how they see the world or what they desire to be done. There's relatively little metaphorical mustache twirling involved with that sort of thing, y'know? It's usually fairly sincere. Often badly misguided, but sincere none the less.

Quite possibly the best part of being ebook scum (well, beyond having ALL THE BOOKS), is the irony involved in using a pair of encyclopedia of philosophy volumes to prop up my laptop. Just as digital is ascendant over other forms of text, so too is my computer above the ancient mediums of information transference >_>

Like. Physically above. The 'pedias are underneath it.

They also make great mousepads.

And bludgeons.

Books are great.

Having a library (ALL THE LIBRARIES) sitting on top of one is better.

I just tried to alt+tab to the book I'm reading.

What.
I have done that exact same thing. More than once >_>

The bright side is most of the time I actually can alt-tab to the book I'm reading. Digital master race~

Ok, NOW I have a reason to make the lampshadiest paladin ever concieved.
Actually, now I'm wondering if anyone has done statblocks for the biblical prophets. What kind of class spread would Moses have needed to fake all of exodus?

He's insinuating that D&D actually gives you magic powers. Then again, he's a nutcase. Also, I'm very disappointed in my lack of fireball throwing.
Silly MZ, you're perfectly capable of throwing fireballs. You just need the proper components of hairspray and a match. It's more like a lesser fireball, but... eh.

Everyone can cast it, even! One of those easy to cobble together spells you can conjure up from your local grocery store.

Magic's easy, really. All you have to do is a little chemistry and then scream at people in welsh.

Isn't that... normal? For chillins?

"Goyim" is not a particularly polite phrase.

Neither was the casual more-or-less-racial slur BP threw out, but hey, here we are.

How does oldschool YWHW deal with inter-group complicity, anyway? Would it actually take a non-israeli jew to qualify for unbloodied hands, given how the nation has been flapping about killing innocents over the last handful of decades? Or is it strictly personal killing?

News of the day:

Man busted for beheading warlock after disagreements over witchcraft
... yeah, we get a few kids killed by exorcisms every year or two, too. Think there's a few other things of similar nature -- parents denying kids medical care and whatnot. There's some dark places in the states.

There's a couple on SkyTV in NZ. I guess it's not too uncommon.
... of course it isn't? Pornography's one of the largest (and most influential) media industries in the world. It's... not surprising that the stuff is basically everywhere. Pretty much everywhere it's legal to broadcast, it's going to be. And most places where it isn't, too. Was true before internet. Still true today. Will probably be true into the future, as well. People have pretty much always loved sexytime entertainment. Barring significant shifts to human psychology, always will.

... several? At least in the states. Usually something you have to pay a subscription for, but it's there.
