"Animal rehabilitation" definitely is, though. Remember, the first step to writing a resume is lying your goddamn ass off. Technically true is the best sort of true when selling yourself like livestock.

E: Make sure to mention your excellent dental structure and fertile loins, kevak. That always goes well.

Can also recommend he try out Supreme Commander at some point.
If you're going to recommend this, might as well recommend Spring as well. Zero-K or one of the handful of TA expies (well, last time I played spring, which was a bit ago. No clue what it's like these days, game wise.) are nice~

... yeah. Watching skilled gamers play is like watching skilled pianists play. Which is entertaining as all hell -- I once watched a world-class pianist enjoy themselves playing Tchaikovsky, which remains one of the most amazing feats of physical dexterity I have ever seen. I could have happily watched that person bang out complicated classical for hours. Similarly, watching high skill playthroughs or speedruns (tool assisted or otherwise) is vaguely incredible -- it's seeing what the high end of skill can do, when one cannot or will not achieve it themselves. Inspiring, uplifting, etc., etc., etc. It's entertaining in a way I've found few other things to be. Watching skilled people be skilled is significantly pleasing to me -- the act of expertise itself is entertaining, nevermind any commentary involved.

I don't go to the concert hall to watch amateurs bungle Chopin, basically. Don't get me wrong, I'm not disparaging such folks, but if I want to hear bungled Chopin I will bungle it myself, y'know?

It's definitely difficult to maintain skillful play and good commentary at the same time, though, no argument there. Is one of the reasons I'm kinda' fond of subtitled (or just plain silent) LPs and whatnot instead of vocal ones.

E: Which is to all say that I'd disagree that watching skillful players play isn't entertaining. It's certainly true that it's not entertaining to some people, just as the opposite isn't, but its merit as an entertainment form is definitely something I would defend.

Re: 2, it... actually kinda' lampoons it? The opinion of a (very british) clocktower trained magus in regards to normal sekirei ensembles and bearing is... less than stellar.

E: Annnnd, done. Actually a bit shorter than the word count suggests -- there's a few (three) omake chapters -- but definitely one of the best FS/N fics I've read, even if it's technically crossed over with sekirei. It's probably one of the better clocktower perspective pieces one could make, really. Very definitely recommended, from start to finish.

So, this. Postnuptial Disagreements (and, despite the name, it's been pretty clean so far). I'm not quite done reading it (on chapter 20 of 28, of this writing), but. Damn. It's another of one of those "hit the ground running and start slamming into walls and random pedestrians" kind of things. Complete, a little shorter than I normally read (only ~88k words), but... so far freaking excellent.

Basic premise is a fate/stay night/sekirei crossover -- set before the fifth grail war. So far, Shirou is completely uninvolved. The only servants are ones mentioned in passing from the last war. The main character is the child of the 4th War's Kayneth El-Melloi, who fairly promptly starts acting (almost) exactly like a magus and someone familiar with the fourth grail war would, when shanghai'd into the sekirei plan. It's... it's just pretty great. Sekirei canon gets straight fucked. It's just. Quite wonderful, so far. Got a few more chapters to go, but just on the strength of the first 19, I would heartily recommend this fic to basically anyone.

... does the text actually say that? Some tentative poking around points to the possibility that some of them -- the Pharisees, mostly -- might have, but nothing blanket, and no specific recension of their status as the chosen of YWHW.

Also a pretty high likelihood that the bits speaking against the jewish people were either post-event anti-jewish stuff (coming out of christian gentiles, decades after Streaker J was supposed to have keeled over -- transcription manipulation, basically) or a known jewish literary technique (more or less an old invocation of "no true scotsman" -- a sort of "look at these insufficiently faithful not-true-Jews" thing) that probably didn't mean terrible much, when it comes right down to it.

Also an odd sort of thing to state, considering Streaker J and his exposure-bros were mostly jews themselves...

Also, a lot of it had to do with the surrounding countries not being truly allies to each other or something.
That and Israel basically acting like incredible bastards quite a bit. Part jewish by blood, myself, and nothing against jews in general, but Israel is something I find myself liking less and less as time goes by and more atrocities are committed by its hand. Nasty ass geopolitical policy and action, aye.

Whole thing's a mess, but if that's the sort of way YWHW's protection manifests, I continue to want absolutely nothing to do with the critter. The jewish nation has not made a very good showing in regards to moral action over the last few decades. Not entirely their fault, I guess -- that was a freaking terrible place to settle down, considering the local situation, and even worse in the way it was handled, historically -- but...

... more on topic, pretty sure the bible quite specifically said there's pretty much no way to know when shit will actually go down. Trying to ascribe modern events to biblical prophecy and whatnot is... probably some variation of heresy. Or sin, I guess -- doubting the word of god, et al. Would probably posit that the best response to anything of that sort is to just pointedly ignore it and act as if it doesn't exist. S'been too many people that have attempted to excuse terrible action because of such considerations. Don't treat Israel's actions through the lens of YWHW's protection, basically -- consider them as you would consider the actions of any other child of god, and comport yourself accordingly.

E: Actually, it did kinda' strike me that they're probably right in line with Old Testament YWHW, all things considered. Was under the impression most Christians pointedly changed topics when discussion of that particular critter comes up, though. Renegotiated contract, not actually jewish heretics, actually loving god now instead of murderous inhuman monster, etc., etc.

...  you probably wouldn't be able to get a decent idea unless you specifically contacted (one of) the teacher(s). In my experience, the content of those sort of classes tend to very much be influenced by whoever's teaching them. If there's not a summary or available syllabus, there's basically no telling what it is. It could be history, could be sociology, could be philosophy, could be... a bunch of stuff. Course number (HIS vs PHI vs SOC, or whatever the normal nomenclature is for your area) might give an idea, there, but your best bet is direct contact with someone involved in the class.

Kid gets shot, then it gets an unholy amount of media attention
Unarmed kid gets gunned down by a cop while trying to surrender. Yes, that is more likely to get an unholy amount of media attention, especially further considering everything else that happened afterwards. We've got a thread somewhere around here if you want more in depth information on the whole event, in particular why it got as much attention as it did. Don't think it got locked, anyway.

Unfortunately, deaths by drunk driver are incredibly common. It's a tragedy, but it's not much in the way of news.

... if that happened to a friend, you definitely have my condolences. But you're very much comparing apples and oranges. Those two situations are incredibly different.

I sincerely doubt the vast, vast majority of five year olds can even approach understanding exactly what is entailed by things such as heaven or hell. The concept of eternity alone, and the conceptual importance behind a decision that entails gambling on literally infinite consequences is just not something someone that young can grasp. You're talking about a subject that is considerably more complicated than comparatively simple human relationships.

Your line of comprehension strips everything about salvation of basically all meaning, cryx. It's a tremendous disservice to the concepts involved, imo.

Would probably want to bump the fasting period up to a week or two, then. Couple days really isn't that worrisome :P And there's still a pretty large amount of wiggle room for fairly handy survival. Humans can go pretty ruddy long without food, all things considered. Or just include a water shortage, though that would largely make option C effectively suicide.

Kids or elderly, I think, are somewhat more of an issue (if they're even there, which, considering the situation, is actually something I'd call somewhat unlikely) but some of the (stronger, healthier) family members voluntarily going off food a day or two early could likely deal with that well enough.

As for the more general thing re: families, back in that period people didn't get on a boat without knowing damn well there was a very much non-zero chance they weren't going to survive, s'far as I'm aware. Especially considering it's a trans-atlantic trip. Anyone on that ship is almost certainly understanding of just what they're in for.

Though... if they weren't aware of the dangers beforehand, that does give an incredibly different light on the scenario. It would mean the expedition leader and/or ship crew has almost certainly been lying like hell to the other passengers. More info! More!

... two days isn't really that agonizing, iirc. It's certainly not pleasant, but I've done that just... incidentally. Forgetting to eat for 48 hours. It would likely be a fairly different experience after a indeterminate amount of time on short rations, but... a couple of days without food generally isn't that bad, insofar as things go.
