General Discussion / Re: I like anime, do you like anime?

G-Gundam gets a pass because it's... well, it's not really gundam, it's gundam's take on super robot shows. Which is definitely okay, but the same rules don't really apply. SD Gundam's pretty much the same sort of genre shift, so... yeah.

... though I find it sorta' weird that you've got a problem with wing zero but not the turn A stuff. Wasn't the butterfly nanononsense capable of planetary scale devastation as well? That is turn A, innit? I guess just because the different sorts of the focus between the shows y'mentioned?

I guess I just want to see something that's somewhere in between Gundam and Battletech in terms of mecha combat. 08th was definitely closer to that paradigm, iirc.

Just... y'know, with mobile suits, since the Zaku has my undying love.

... there's latrines/outhouses that work differently? I mean, the hole might or might not be dug into the ground, but that's pretty much how they operate, last I checked.

... I can get behind bulkier gundams, too, honestly. Much of my problem with them is almost all of them look so damn flimsy ;_;

S'like. The Physalis is sorta' okay, ferex. But even a Zaku II looks like it could tank almost as much damage, even if it can't. When you look like you can barely take more of a hit than a ruddy GM it just leaves everything up to plotanium and dodging and... well, the first is sad, and the second makes your enemies (and thus, your accomplishments) less impressive, y'know?

And I guess... I'unno, more punchy in general? Less exploding machines and one-shots, more mangled wrecks. Stuff besides the gundams should be able to take battle damage without keeling over. Just finished watching ep 18 of Build Fighters, which is, like. Step in right direction -- still exploding machine, but much mangling before hand. gimme some grit, damnit and maybe a "The War Without Gundam" season or two

I know some of the series are better about it than others, just noting it's the sorta' thing I'd like to see more of.

So you don't give a damn if it is coincidental or not and problem solved.

what do You mean ?

something like This ?

Because i havent seen people doing This .
Yeah, it's usually not with periods -- just question and exclamation marks. Kinda' drives me up the wall, personally, but it is what it is.

And @ sini, I'unno about the OP but I am kinda' curious about the reasoning behind it, same as I've never actually gotten around to figuring out why the whole <end sentence ?> thing is a thing. It doesn't seem like it's just an idle affectation, so presumably the behavior is being taught somewhere or... something.

Honestly, where I've seen it, it seems to be more common among folks that speak english as a second language. Sort of like that whole thing where they put a space in front of question marks or other punctuation. So maybe some odd misunderstanding regarding grammar or writing conventions?

What Gundam series was most inlove with vehicle designs?
What does that even mean.
It means neo missed a space.
You know, for all of the shit that Zeon gets for their wacky designs and vehicles, can we take a moment to remember the Federation's module fetish?
Feddies got a lot more plot bullshit, iirc. I'm not so sure it was a love of modules per se, so much as modules happened to be a convenient way to pull out said plot BS.

That said, the fed-equivalent side does tend to have more module-y stuff. The secondary reason for that is that it lets 'em bugger about with gundams without changing the iconic shape and whatnot. Zeon expy gets a lot more freedom in design, since they tend to not be so burdened with the boring-as-hell gundam design pattern, so they do tend to be more likely to end up weird.

But they also get stuff like the goddamn Zaku (N^1000 times more aesthetically awesome than the gundam SIEG ZEON) and Xamel and whatnot. It's almost a shame the metaphorical bad guys get all the good looking designs.

... but yeah, basically, it's not so much that the feds have a module fetish as they have a gundam fetish, which locks them into modules as the only way to do anything approaching interesting. IMO, of course.

E: If you haven't noticed, I'm kinda' of the opinion that the greatest weakness of the gundam shows is the gundam. It would be infinitely better if it was the Zaku shows :3

Well, speaking of alternatives to capitalism
Let's not? We've quipped a bit, and maybe thrown out a little metadiscussion, but as the OP states we should be trying to largely avoid the latter. This really isn't the place for it, especially considering the chances of the US strongly changing economic gears any time soon is horrifyingly slim.

A new thread would be fine, just... don't use this one.

I'unno, isn't there considerably more to faith than faith in salvation? I'd probably question if an incomplete, half-hearted adherence to a single aspect of faith would actually count as particularly faithful at all, even if the individual's faith in salvation in particular is particularly strong.

... shouldn't that be self-evident? Other than probably having more time to study the text, a priest has absolutely zero to recommend their opinion of the text over anyone else. Hell, given that many of them have denominational affiliation, it's entirely possible their interpretation should be trusted less than normal, since they're likely to have a predetermined doctrinal bias in regards to it.

E: Also wow, 2 Peter 1:20 has freaking incredible divergence in regards to translation. Seriously, check that stuff out. The zog do you even pick one when you've got that many different wordings to choose from?

No... no, considering YWHW made the plants to begin with, I don't think it's hate, exactly. It just loves to hurt them. Creating a kingdom of biological life strictly to indulge in sadism upon sounds right up YWHW's alley.

The hell would even be the word for that fetish? Divine chlorosadistic arousal fixation? It would explain the burning of myrrh and such. e: I don't think I'll ever look at decaf the same.

... wait, wait. As in, he yelled at it and withered and died, and then he yelled at it again and it withered and died for a second time?

Because that would actually be a somewhat impressive parlor trick. It is hard to kill what is already killed. Well, more kill.

Are you kidding? Have you seen the market prices on catshit coffee and diamonds?
