Changing wadding regularly, yeah. Between a half-hour to hour, at most, while conscious (around every hour while trying to sleep, too, since I haven't slept longer than an hour or so since thursday :-\). Didn't even know about the freaking saltwater rinse until around an hour ago. More specifically regarding the bleeding, the instructions re: gauze was to bite down firmly for half-hour periods until the bleeding stops. Which was not what I was told, and not what I was further instructed regarding the situation by the people supposedly keeping my drugged ass from doing stupid shit.

Actually, the fun part is that the folks ostensibly taking care of me have actually been suggesting to just leave the gauze in for longer periods and not bother changing it out.

It's like. Okay. If you want to kill me, you have guns. Death by post-op gum line infection is just cruel.

Haha fucking ha. Immediately after being given the after-process instructions and actually following the damned things, notable decrease in bleeding.

Goddamnit. I mean, that's good, but the fact that I have been bleeding for four fucking days (and unable chew) largely because everyone I was kinda' depending on forgot to give me the bloody proper care instructions is, just. Argh. If I weren't feverish and in pain I'd be really kinda' pissed off right now. More so.

Abolish them. Give people tax breaks for having children instead.
Or you can just do what the states do and give tax breaks for entering into a joint and several tax agreement with another person! Which is what joint filing is, by and large. Little extra bits for dependents, but the "can go after either ass if one drops tax ball" is the big thing, from my understanding of it.

Also the part that doesn't really get talked about much*, but eh.

*People see that favorable tax rate and go, "Oh it must be because chillens!" Hahaha, IRS says, "Ho no, comrade. We just want you to think it is. Now I see your husband is behind on taxes. Thank you for the house that was in your name only~"

17614
Hrm. Turns out family that's been taking care of me while am drugged and whatnot, forgot to give me proper post-teeth extraction instructions. Until four days after the first operation.

Past several days, I have been doing pretty much the exact wrong things to do. Suddenly, the continued bleeding and intermittent fever is notably more worrying :-\

Seriously though. Goddamn. When you collect instructions on proper medical care for the drugged person in significant pain, please either freaking give said instructions to them or make sure they're being followed. Infection is no joke. Hopefully not dealing with infection, but the point stands.

... as for the conceptual rage, P, if it's connected to b12 at all it's really best to just not post it, at least in the rage thread. An indirect attack est.

Pretty much the attitude people have come to expect from games journalists and devs in the past week.  Stupid consumers for not realizing that before and for wanting to have journalistic integrity!  Let's laugh at them all some more.
Well... yes. Or, more accurately, "Why now?" Why this particular shitting upon journalistic integrity? Games journalism has had functionally zero integrity since... ever, to be honest, and in far more far reaching and pervasive ways than this little one. You get this weird uproar over a niche game, with frankly minor -- possibly even non-existent -- corruption* when every week for years we've been having systematic and practically standard shilling out of reviews for cash, early access, etc., so forth, so on. But this one, somehow, is special? Every response I've seen thus far trying to answer that involves ridiculous tinfoil-hat conspiracy nonsense and a great deal of attempts to redirect the conversation back to being somehow incensed.

This is why people are laughing when others are waving the "journalistic integrity" flag around -- it sounds like a bullshit excuse for other action when the state of integrity in gaming media has been in a sump far deeper than a bit of possibly a little sleeping around and maybe some PR spinning for a long, long time.

Don't get me wrong, folks're welcome to want more integrity in gaming journalism, it's just that jumping on this particular bandwagon is an incredibly odd way of going about it. The issues involved in it, to the extent there are any, aren't really the notable issues that gaming journalism is dealing with re: integrity.

*If there's anything of genuine note in this whole kerfluffle it's been one of potential mod overreach, but even that is mitigated a lot by the fact that a great deal of the people they're squishing are being utter jackholes, often to the point of outright breaking laws. Just as boss toad, quite rightfully, kills entire threads and bans discussions on certain topics when they're noted to draw particular forms of behavior, so can other moderators, yeah?

I almost certainly won't be. Post wisdom teeth removal has been quite miserable, and I've been spending most of my days either feverish or trying (vainly -- I haven't slept longer than an hour, hour and a half, since thursday) to sleep. Not really up for playing, especially not for very long.

Yeah... last I heard about that, it wasn't just "red wine" but red wine from a specific mountain range or something along those lines. And, as you note, consumed in a very specific, very restrained manner, which definitely isn't "consuming alcohol in general". Was a few years back, so there's probably been more studies since, but eh.

Certainly, though, if you've consumed enough you can't remember most of the night before and were unable to notice when your face is covered in blood, things have gone more than a wee bit too far. But, well. Yoink is okay with his drinking problem, so there's not really much else to be said on the subject *shrugs*

Still plenty you could do with a dwarf gunny-thingy, I think.

I actually just had this amazing mental image of a giant axe that deploys wheels and handlebars, is mounted by its dwarf wielder, and sprouts both a gigantic rocket propulsion engine and has its head turn into a spinning vortex of (possibly flaming, sure) slashing death. Dwarf riding its axe around the battlefield, cackling maniacally and leaving streamers of flaming flesh confetti everywhere it goes. Totes be able to stunt while riding it, too~

Axe could also double as some kind of freaky steampunk axe/rocket launcher thing. Dwarf sees approaching enemy force, lifts axe up to shoulder and fires the axehead at them -- after a few feet, the axehead would splinter into this incredible cloud of smaller axeheads. That explode on contact. Each successive shot making the launcher more fancy, until you've eventually got this utterly ridiculously chaingun rocketaxe explosive flechette country destroyer laying waste to everything in line of sight, and many things outside of it. In a wakfu inspired twist, at some point during the transformation the gunaxe would spout an incredibly comfortable recliner for a cockpit. Maybe serve little martinis or somethin'.

Melee would involve all sorts of gunbladeaxe shenanigans and a wicked awesome vaguely technomorphic (but with gears and shit) doom axe that's probably bigger than the dwarf itself and would totally spout quips at things as it's used to murder everything in a hundred mile radius.  The quips would mostly consist of terrible axe puns, but the game would be programmed such that anyone commenting on them near the axe itself would get axed. Semi-sentient doomaxe gets to make all the bad jokes it wants.

E: Downside(?) being that, if such a thing did come into existence, I'm not sure anyone would play anything else.

17619
Incredibly doubtful, that. Almost certainly drawing in more than it's pushing out, with a notably majority not really caring either way.

It'd be pretty neat if they did entrance/exit surveys, though. Assuming anyone answered them, might be able to actually find out what's causing people to leave/stay.

Not just now, Neo. Those have been around for a long, long time. It's actually, arguably, been somewhat less predominate in the last handful years, insofar as I've noticed.

17621
Is more like we need for racism to stop being a primary factor for these abuses, unfortunately.

I'unno, there's plenty of uncertainty from me as to why something that is, at best, terribly ineffective C-list corruption is getting so much apparent attention. I guess it's mostly that manufactured drama or whatev' that was talked about some in the last thread, but still. S'more than a little odd. And Phmcw actually puts the appropriate response to that quite succinctly, heh.

Anime nothing, media period. Fanservice is everywhere.

Really, you can just assume most anything BP says about islam is islamophobic nonsense to some degree or another. Critter's been drinking the israeli koolaid very deeply in regards to anti-arab sentiment. Nothing of value is going to be said, and there's not going to be any enlightenment regarding the islamic people on the other end of the conversation, so just... leave it as a loss, and maybe go on to talking about something of actual import.

Naaah, I can actually understand the state's reason for allowing non-dependent-producing marriages, at least in the US. Joint filing also means joint and several, which means if either partner drops the ball re: taxes, the state can go after the other one for the cost. Gov'ment likes that, and it's one of the reasons (dependents being one of the other ones) that joint filing gets such advantageous rates. Tax office is more likely to get their money, one way or another.
