So, uh. Modern Deadlock sequel?

1772
Shouldn't be any need for spoilers, there, the key point is just the bloody spurs strapped to leg of the (living; note there's a probably dead one on the ground) torchick/orange bird. They're a chicken fighting accessory. KZ's got it, more or less.

That the audience is mostly made up of aqua/magma grunts is a nice touch.

probably short lived glory to they that pisses into the face of a tidal wave

I... don't actually know these days, tbh. Last time I played it was a standalone java program that didn't interact with microsoft's stuff at all... somewhere or another I still got login credentials for it loitering around, I think. Quick check suggests that's at least maybe sorta' still available? Couldn't say if it's still DRM free(-ish, outside the login), though.

No clue whatsoever what's going on with the Win-10 specific version. There's also the question of which one the kid's interested in, because if there's a difference they'd be keyed into, well. Maybe see if the sprog can clarify?

If we don't have free will
Then some being or force decided that we could vote on the possibility that we possess free will.

Which seems bizarre in every scenario except that the being or force is non-conscious.

Edit: Although, there is also the possibility that us having the illusion of free will is important to the being for some reason.
I mean, it fucks with a lot of people and causes a lot of misery, so there's a solid possibility for malice with that one :V

It'd take some major changes to current infrastructure practices, sadly. Lot of the reason it's not normalized is that lots of places put stuff down there these days, and folks randomly digging around can cause... problems. Self-electrocution, busted pipes, broken phone lines, etc.

Acknowledging Youtube algorithm:
Apoptygma Berzerk: Fade to Black
Well there's a name I haven't seen outside my playlist in a while.

... I think I kept skipping it until it got stuck in my backup folder instead of the primary music usb, though.

wait shit we had basically this exact exchange like two years ago

i thought that felt familiar

e: though now that I check it closer it's like you've been remembering to mention them every other year for like half a decade now, so :V

There's been a smattering of stuff like that (mostly of a "be careful what you wish for" nature, looking at it), plus JA3 development was announced just last year by these folks, who among other things did Tropico 3-5. So hey, there's options and fairly likely to be more coming.

Still missing a modern ogre battle.

Add on wanting to see something centered around spelljammers, or similar concepts. High fantasy sci-fi, plying the aether sea, the exact format doesn't really matter. Closest I can think to it is maybe the sunless sea/sky stuff, but that's more steampunk than high fantasy. I want my wizards to be throwing fireballs from the deck of a spacefaring whaling ship at asteroids to crack them open for delicious magic rocks.

Similarly, I'd goddamn love to see a high fantasy/magitech mech game, action, strategy, or rpg (or all of them) doesn't matter. Someone take the magitek armor from FF6 and go wild with it. Really crunchy magitech is something I don't see as an aesthetic or mechanics influence nearly enough.

Today's food thing is chili pepper swiss cheese gravy(?*), over fried curried potatoes with shredded turkey. In process of cooking, gravy is done and vaguely amazing, potatoes are frying, about to shred the turkey.

*I think, anyway. I made rous with unsalted butter and flour and water, put a good bit of black pepper and chili powder on it, stirred well and warmed a bit, stuck in a couple of slices of swiss cheese and warmed it enough to all melt together with more stirring. I'm fairly sure that's gravy? Or something close to it. Tasty, anyway...

e: finally recognized that taste, this gravy-thing nearly matches those frikkin' pringle pizza chips, just less salty

how

e2: anyway it's pretty damn good i will probably cook this again at some point

e3: oh, that's why this sounded familiar, I think I just accidentally'd some kind of pseudo-poutine

e4: Next day, I think I've learned one of the secrets of really good homemade mashed potatoes. Add egg (and cheese!) when it's mash time, let it cook a little longer (like 2-4 minutes on low) to make sure the egg's cooked. Consistency is the best I've produced by hand to date.

... then I added turkey bacon and parsley and chili powder and black pepper and now I'm eating it and it's pretty solid. Can tell there's no salt (outside the bacon and a bit in the cheese), though...

e5: i have made personalized food crack

airfried diced potatoes (seasoned with pepper and paprika and parsley, a 4 p potato) mixed with that sorta' braised chicken mentioned up thread however far and the cheese gravy above without the chili powder.

i don't think I've ever eaten anything more appreciated by my taste buds ;_;

nah though it wasn't even socialism they wanted to give a monopoly to the rental companies

that suggestion was pure capitalism with a chufty dose of regulatory capture :V

If you think folks don't use corded drills to screw things in or the battery powered ones to put holes in stuff, I have some unfortunate news for you :P

Least around where I'm at, people generally don't make a distinction between electric screwdriver and power drill -- if it'll hold a drill bit, it's a drill, it's just a question of how strong it is and if it needs chargin', heh.

e: and if you're asking if that designation applies to people and small animals, yes, if they can turn it enough and not run faster than you

Add in a second or two of run time every time the drill is brought out, too. Like giving tongs a couple of test clacks, you gotta make sure the tool is working properly before putting it to use.
You don't clack tongs as a test for functioning, silly :P

... which may have been the point. Personal experience the test rev doesn't even take a second, though. You hit it once to make sure it's on and then get done with the whatever before it falls on someone, heh.

meh 9/10 it's the carbon brush... the batteries do get old and weak though

Force all manufacturers to use the same battery clip mechanism, I think you'll be further along.
Parts standardization in general for a lot of stuff like that would be pretty huge, though. It'd tie in hard with a right to repair type of push, 'cause that kind of thing makes repair and maintenance massively more reasonable on a personal scale. If most of the parts of a drill (or whatever, really) were fully interchangeable it'd go a hell of a long way towards adding legs to their working lifetimes.
