Yeah... I don't think there's really any major video game related grouping within b12 that has more than 2-3 dozen regulars. Most notably fewer. Even the biggest DF-associated steam group rarely has more than 15-20 or so loitering in the chatroom, from what I've noticed.

Bit of a bump, but I just wanted to share the fact that the Everything's Unique mod can make for some outright farcical situations:
Point to be made: I'm doing OF->Nur as my forth dungeon, after Norgos/Trollmire/Korpul... and stacking encumbrance, because I'm carrying something like 30 artifacts I wanna' store ;_;

The loot piñata situation with this addon on full blast is completely ridiculous, if you can survive the constant onslaught that happens when you turn pretty much every monster into a farportal boss. Not really something you do with normal characters, t'be honest, though lower frequency is pretty tame.

E: And the gold income is just silly, of course. That encounter ended up netting me 430 gold. Also two artifacts! Not counting the random artifacts.

E2: Though you can pretty much just write escorts off. M'actually using the enhanced escort addon (which is to say, escort easymodo) and they're still pretty much guaranteed to be flat erased within a few turns of encountering anything hostile, ha.

Dual spiked chain? Sounds really iffy and dangeroys.
From a realism perspective, yes.  From a gameplay/mechanics perspective, it absolutely wrecks all the faces once it gets off the ground (which happens somewhere in the level 4-6 range, iirc -- and before then, you can just use one, probably with a shield once you get monkey grip).

The flat fact is that spiked chains are one of the best (perhaps the best) weapons in the game (solid damage, innate entangle, usable while grappled, reach, ridiculous parry bonus, they've got pretty much everything), and with the updates from choose have been massively buffed (due to them actually getting those reach repulsion checks, now, which is just wonderfully gratuitous). Throw two on an high BAB/dex/weapon specialization (for speed and increased DC on the entangle/knock prone/keep away) with the feats to dual wield them (monkey grip, florentine) and knock prone, and you basically turn into an untouchable blender that just destroys everything you get within range of. It's just hilariously ridiculous, ha. One of the best builds in the game in regards to simple raw melee. Very little is as capable of outright dismantling anything that gets within close range like a dual-spiked chain build.

Yeesss, because 1.1 and 1.100000001 is a major difference, ha. I mean, comparatively, sure, but...

Which is to say, "compared to others in genre" still means the other ones mostly aren't. LoL's about as conducive to mucking about as any of the major AoS games.

As per usual, the actual answer is to get friends and hammer out ideas and game plans and synergies and whatnot beforehand and duo+ queue instead of experimenting randomly in soloqueue, so you're coming into the game with people that know what the hell you're doing, instead of trying to get a team that has absolutely no idea what the zog you're trying to do to work around/with you. Throw in "mute gorram everyone" (do that regardless, but still) and you'll get to play off the wall builds fairly often! You'll get dropped on your ass like carry crystal maiden tends to, pretty often, of course, but that's what happens when you try silly shit like AD 'dinger or whatev'.

Playing different AoS knockoffs is still probably a good idea, though. To a certain extent, there's not terribly much of a point -- most of them just aren't different enough for it to really matter -- but tasting some of the variations on the theme rarely particularly hurts.

It's ok. No offense to any authors, but I honestly don't have time for webcomics, even if they are good. They're all so long... maybe if I caught one as it was starting and followed it.
Or just spread 'em out. Read maybe one a year or something, stuff like that. You have many years ahead of you to fit ones in the schedule, if you wanna'. And I'd definitely recommend it! As culture goes, webcomics are doing pretty alright, imo.

That said, there's plenty giving their college try for starting off and whatnot, and ones that look like they're not going to stop anytime soon getting into their groove (Like paranatural, ferex, or mokepon), if you do want to find one and follow along. RSS and such makes doing so really easy these days, even.

W... well then. For the future. Fairly sure there's a couple other webcomic suggestion threads and whatnot laying around, if you haven't ran into them yet. Just skimming it, most of the major ones are mentioned in the first three pages, so... have a ball.

Seeing as how it's apparently a 2014 film, presumably not. Unless someone's been buggering around with time loops while no one was paying attention.

Oddly enough, I actually enjoy the smell of cigarettes and other burning stuff.
Yeah, as per Alev, wood smoke and whatnot often isn't that bad. Still likes to bugger my lungs a fair bit, but at least the smell's pretty bearable. It's pretty specifically cigarettes, cigars, etc. Almost all of them smell worse than shit. Like. That's a literal statement -- I'd rather go through a sump than go through the smoking area of anywhere.

Though there's a few exceptions. I have ran into some cigars and pipe tobacco and whatnot that's not nearly as bad -- almost enjoyable, even, insofar as the smell itself goes. Still will knock me into a migraine induced catatonia if I'm in it for too long, but at least those ones don't smell that bad. There's just something about cigarette producers that apparently make them completely goddamn incapable of creating something that doesn't smell exponentially worse than ass.

in all my experience with American teachers is this standard? Because it seems standard
If you're asking as to actual american teachers, then no, it's not standard. Least hasn't been in my experience, doubly or trebly so in relation to actual philosophy/related classes. Slightly worse in areas with heavy agenda bias in the population, but the flat fact is that spouting shit along heavy ideological lines is a very fast way to get your arse kicked out of the public school system in the parts of the states I've been in. You start getting complaints, your boss starts looking for a replacement.

It's actually been kinda' amusing, since this area is highly ideologically leaning in certain ways, and watching a professor get notably uncomfortable when one of the students starts yammering something about prayer is somewhat amusing/sympathy inducing.

Not particularly well, no. I just kicked it on on a DX10 machine. You can poke around a bit, though. It's definitely slow and some stuff indefinitely hangs it, but the tools are loading after a bit and some stuff works alright. Still. Things might work differently on your end.

E: And if nothing else, it looks like it comes with example lua and whatnot you can go ahead and start poking at. Don't need functioning tools for that.

17770
... have you tried, anyway? PCs being PCs, sometimes they work regardless.

17771
... prequel's the best comic you've read? I mean... don't get me wrong, it's pretty good, if a little dead-horse-beating or somethin', but. Maybe read more comics :P

Definitely would put it below, say, Unsounded. Probably a good handful of others, and that's just sticking to webcomics...

I am extremely sensitive to the smell of cigarette smoke.

So what do I do?

I let two smokers stay in my room overnight.

I am such an idiot.
Well. Learn from the mistake, and don't do that again. At the very least, make sure they're not smoking in your room. Not that it helps entirely, since the stench basically clings to the poor buggers. But it helps a little.

But what you do now is suffer through the stench for however long it takes to dissipate. Try LSP's suggestion, haven't given that a shot before. Hopefully it clears up for you faster than it usually does for me. Massively fucking sucks to have that goddamn stench in your nostrils for like a week or two after exposure. Why that shit sticks around for so long, I don't know, but if I find out who's responsible for it I'll be incredibly tempted to go maim them. If it's intentional on the part of the producers the fuckers need to be fined and then shot, and that part of the process made illegal.

Haspen and I play almost regularly. You should make a necro one of the existing wesnoth thread(s).
Much better. Think there's like two or three of the things in OG, plus one or two in play with your buddies.

E: Actually, we seem to get a new one every other year or so, so I guess we're about due for a new one. Hrm.

I wonder if Toady would allow a thread where only a certain language is spoken (or typed :p) so long as the thread is meant to help people learn that language easily.
We've actually had one or two specifically non-english threads pop up over the years, if not ones for specific languages. Forgot what happened to 'em, though.

26 pages since I last checked the happy thread... guh. Catch up later, I guess. The happy, though. Came from this. Something like the 15th turn.

A new Grand Master: after the death of the 19th consecutive presumptive Grand Master at the paws of an ursine, the Knights of the Black Bear in Averheim have come to a decision. Grand Master Smoky the Brown is the Knights new Grand Master, having earned that right in the traditional way by killing all challengers with his bear hands. The Grand Master can be visited any day in the Order’s headquarters in Averheim for free and can be fed an onion for a penny, provided you sign a waiver.
Made day. Well. Night. Early morning. Something.

Also made me realize I've reached the stage that laughing hurts. Ruddy stomach illness. Still. Laugh good.
