... do any of those actually meet the criteria you were looking for? If Dark Legions is the game, seers exist in a world with all sorts of other magic users, WH40k is full of warp benders of all genders, you can definitely have male magic users and presumably darkspawn in DA, and... I have no interaction with the scorpion king, so I have no idea there. Unicorns I wouldn't even know where to start with -- even the real-world mythology is varied as the buggery, nevermind fantasy stuff, and m'not sure I count being able to sorta-interact with a single species of mutant horse as particularly special-power worthy.

I mean, at this point, I'm legit curious as to fictional worlds where the special bits are explicitly gender locked and one gender is completely mundane. Even with the magical girl stuff I've encountered, most of it doesn't seem so much like guys can't do the whole transformation sequence stuff so much as don't -- and even then, there's usually alternate powersets they get involved with. I know there's a few out there, but a lot of times even when the general situation is gender-locked the stories built in the world in question are about exceptions to the rule (See: Infinite Stratos, since I've forgotten all the text examples I've read.).

Mm... it should be on your character sheet, if you've got any favor with Xavias. If it's non-zero, you'll have the little bit in the gods/etc. bit telling you your standing with X. If it is zero, a few sacrifices or whathaveyou should clear that up and give you an idea of where you stand.

Lies. Lies, I say! Plenty of ranged weapons have computers in them! Drones, missiles, pretty sure they're aiming artillery via computer these days, so on, so forth. Hell, with drones, that's specifically computers that have several models designed for use against unarmored protesters peasants. They're just computers with guns attached to them or whatever. Think the rest of it have similar stuff.

But ONLY women get the Senshi powers period. I don't know why, and I originally thought Tuxedo Mask was a male Senshi who didn't get the outfit, but it is what it is.
Not really, again -- starlight or whatever they are. They can genderflip at will, but it's still a case of (conditional) males in the setting have senshi powers :P

And again, I can't recall anything about the series that said males can't be senshi -- most of the reason they weren't seemed to boil down to the power(s) that handed out the ability being coming from a matriarchy. Social rather than anything necessarily true. Point being that it wasn't a monogendered piece going towards females -- fellows get plenty of powers in that series.

When I was talking about there not being many monogendered pieces, I was talking about something from the direction you stated as
Quote
I was looking for a case of male only powers without there being "well women can do this", where it isn't a balance of power without it being influenced by culture (So it isn't "only men wizards because society is sexist" deal).
going either way. You say it's common for there to be female monogendered works of that sort, but the only one I can recall off the top of my head is maybe Strike Witches (and I actually haven't seen any of that, so I have no clue if the capabilities involved there were influenced by culture or not). It's pretty darn rare that there's not some kind of balance of power existing, and most of the time if there's a notable gender bias it's more tradition than... most anything else, or the genders get different powersets. Guess what I'm saying is, "Examples?"

Same with Tactics Ogre, where the Princess and Lord classes are opposites but equal (In the original the Princess Class is basically the ultimate mage who can have every spell, while the Lord can have any physical skill).
Definitely untrue with Ogre Battle, though, which is what I specifically mentioned -- the Lord class in that, particularly the original, is something very specific, and the closest to the princess class was possibly the lich, something very different, though both were pretty much the best back-line classes in the game (for radically different reasons).

But nah, monogender stuff at all is pretty rare from what I've seen -- even with magical girl stuff, just as an example, it's generally either that males have some sort of alternate power (See: Sailor Moon) or they just don't get screen time the same way female magic users don't in, say, the Hobbit. I am pretty sure I've read a least a few fantasy/sci-fi/whatever novels over the years that had male only (/only males) powers, s'just... there's been a lot of things over the years. Can't remember what they were, ha.

I'unno, m'forty-some levels in and I still have no idea what the pay part of the F2P is, beyond sidekicks. And of those, you get one decently solid one for free, and a rotating one on free trial for the extra prospecting/meatshield. Pretty painless, so far.

So they seem to be doing pretty good on the F2P transition, from a free player's perspective.

Mm. I know the final fantasy series has several gender locked job/class things (Bard, dancer), for what that's worth -- basically the same thing, just in a world with plenty of other, non-gendered, powers. The Ogre Battle stuff did things similarly for a great deal of its games -- valkyrie/knight split, princesses, and so on. Definitely want to say I've seen the same sort of thing in some non-game settings, but names and whatnot are escaping me, and my memory's nagging that whatever I ran into it with was read over a decade ago.

Maybe some of piers anthony's work? I forget if the adept things were monogendered (though certainly most of the ones I can currently recall were male, at least initially. Maybe an alien once or twice.), and I'm almost certain the... tone? The one that got pretty goddamn freaky with diapers and a suicidal/cutting protagonist and man I don't know what else. Stuff might have had something like that.

Also maybe the Shannara stuff? Not sure why that's dinging the memory. There's certainly plenty of fantasy work where even if the magic or whatever wasn't strictly gender locked you never saw any female archmagi equivalents or whathaveyou.

Fleshweaving, sure. Skinweaving if you're looking for something with a bit more edge to it. Stuff along those lines. Pretty sure I've seen something like that a few times, even beyond the dune-whatsit of similar intent.

Absolutely no clue :P

I guess maybe if you kill shin with a rebirth mark thing going...?

Also, if you need woolly keys I've got, like, spares. Twenty something of the ruddy things. Gob wool turns into keys turns into gob wool turns into more keys turns into more gob wool. You get the idea.

I'm trying to come up with schools of magic for a mini-project I'm working on.  I've got them all, but I was wondering if there are better names for them.

1)  Plant magic.  So far I've come up with "Druidics", but that sounds a bit weird.
2)  Magic that transforms/enhances the user.  I'm using "Transformations", but it sounds a bit too close to "Transmutations", which I'm also using.

Any better ideas?
Phytokinetic sounds kinda' interesting as well for the first, to go with scrdest's suggestion.

As for the second, F/SN uses "Reinforcement," iirc. M'pretty fond of it, myself, but from the source stuff that outright transforms the user would be outside its purview. Not that that means anything in an original setting so *shrog*

Just show up :P Looks like you're in the group, so just hop into the chat room and chill until people show up (or don't show up, in which case it might not be until next week but eh).

Pretty sure it's an open invitation. Today's game is supposed to start in about 45 minutes if normal scheduling is followed, but it's a little wonky the last few games so it may or may not be today.

T'be honest, if you were okay with I'd be kinda' okay with locking it down to a three hour slot on sunday. Lot easier to plan for that than "When does it end? *confused shrug*"

Lightsaber, obviously. Perhaps a force sword or daemonblade, I'unno. Anything that can gut a squiggoth is okay in my book.

I mean, you're welcome to come for squiggly swords, but I'll take incandescent plasmatic death for 600, alex.

Certainly interested in seeing the alt styles, hah. While there is a certain panache to wearing a kite shield as a hat, it is a very certain panache. Normally reserved for people that have lost headbutting contests with a wall.

Apparently fairly sizable 50-70 meter deep hole, only <30 km from a gas plant.

Takes 1-2 years to notice giant honking hole in the ground spitting distance from intensely flammable processing area.

Seems legit russian to me.
