But... but I liked dungeon siege 2... it was refreshing to see that amount of corn and cheese after the hours-long marches through Ominous Gray Woods #5 from the first game.
Echo this.

Also, I have to say, even though I had no idea what they were saying (I mean, there was text, but whether they translation matched or not, zog if I know), the german (or maybe russian? I think it was german.) voice actors for DS2 were kinda' amazing. Head and shoulders above the english ones. I actually left sound on for that game.

The Schlammer. Part of the second Zinit Mountain area -- you can get to the start of it (It's like a five chain set of areas -- not rooms, ala your average dungeon, but full on full sprawl areas) via cannoning to the truce cavern part. The first two parts are actually pretty docile -- 25-ish level enemies that aren't too terribly much of a threat and a (mid)boss that's not that big of a deal -- but everything from the third part onward is basically hell, apparently. A level 25 (the minimum level needed to get in) group would... I'm actually halfway sure six level 25 characters would just get flat wiped.

Eh? No, I'm not talking about any particular class. I'm talking about the series of fights that renders you(r entire party) unequipped and completely unable to damage 3-4 30-40 level enemies (several with AoE or ranged damage), with the only way to progress via gimmick. Gimmick which requires you to step on certain squares (Oh, and the squares? They change every turn.). While 4+MP doomcreatures waddle around and lock your skinny arse to the floor and lop off chunks of your HP every round.

Bring teleporters or frikkin' die, is what I'm saying. Several are going to probably frikkin' die anyway.

This is a set of battles via devil gimmick. Someone on the dev team spun the sadist dial to "Just go the hell away."

To the extent it matters, the squids, most powerful nation of the world in heart and spirit (albeit nothing else), will magnanimously accede to a rollback.

This game has devil gimmicks. Freaking schlammer. So cruel. I didn't realize this game would be willing to do something like this to the players ;_;

You lot are terribly boring people, apparently :P

I enjoyed URF just fine, when it was going. Mostly ran vs AI, as usual, but that's how I always play so *shrugs*

Either way, it's nice to see something fairly different in the hands of the player instead of same old same old for the nth millionth time. Excess is nice, occasionally. Any change to the ruddy thing is positive, s'far as I'm concerned. Least make it an option in custom games or something, I'unno.

tsu tsu dungeon
*goes, checks*

... yeah. That, uh. We don't have the manpower for that. Might be able to take the first room! Maybe. Pretty sure erryting after that would devour our entire guild at once, if we could stuff it all in there.

Still be willing to give a try, but that's past the point of "things that straight up kill us". We've only got four folks over level 30, and I've got the second highest level critter we have D:

... we're eventually going to get to play with the doombot characters... right? I'd come back for a few rounds of that.

... doombots? Is that what I'm thinking that is (CD-reduced and/or less bots)?

So I've noticed something half-way interesting for the guild: Either the level requirement on guild quests is flat out not working, or something being 15 levels above you doesn't count. The uptick to this is, one way or another, the dungeon of respite is very good for the "complete a dungeon" guild quest -- its boss is level 60, even if you don't fight it directly, and as soon as the final wave hits you complete the quest, even if you don't finish the fight itself (though you might as well -- something in there can drop twixler candy, which is a nice, conditionless, 1-fight 100 wisdom boost).

Incidentally, we have enough guild points to hit level 2 now. Whenever someone's on that can start that off.

Negative bonuses from different sources (even of the same type) should stack. Only positive bonuses of different types should stack.
This... mostly. It should take the best of each type (so, no stacking) except with explicit ability damage (ala poisons and diseases, and things like bonebat attacks or that one green thing that damages your dex when you attack it, stuff like that). So you wouldn't have curses or cursed equipment penalties stacking on top of each other, but poisons and diseases would do their thing properly.

Basically the difference between stat drain and stat damage, I suppose. A drain, as with curses and confusion and whatnot, shouldn't stack with itself (different types, of course, should stack pretty much always), while damage, as with poisons and certain creature abilities (again, bonebat bite) should.

War's over, apparently. Brak just allied with purpleland.

Ruddy finally.

E: Also, I seem to have nearly 200 thistle seeds, if anyone, like. Wants some.

Re: Fishing: It also apparently feeds into a lot of, well... incidentals, going by recipe checking stuff I've pulled up (admittedly not much -- my bot's only level 16 on fishing, which gives* sturgeon, bow meow fish,** and breadfish). You pull up stuff that makes armor, weapons, jewelry, non-chef consumables... it's definitely chef-primary, but it's got a lot of little stuff going pretty much everywhere.

*Along with the rare-ish appearance of muddy shoes (part of a fairly decent set of boots) and old pairs of underwear (three or four things, but the lowest underwear requirement one takes like 30 pairs, and they're not common.).
**These are complete arse to fish up in any meaningful number -- you can only get them with lures made from stuff harvested from living rat mobs, which, insofar as I've been able to tell, don't have seeds. I ended up depopulating the south east of astrub of sturgeon like twice instead of trying to get to bread fish level off bow meow ones. Three hundred freaking sturgeon.

Haven't triggered backache cat off critter stuff. Trees, mining, fishing, yes. But not critters. Wouldn't be entirely surprised if it specifically excluded trapping stuff, or had some sort of cooldown or whatever after murdering something. If you want to test it, just do non-combat harvesting and go gather up a few hundred bottles of gobball slobber or somethin' without getting into a fight. If backache cat doesn't show up, you've probably got your answer.

Also still functionally a WC3 custom map and sucking on the teat of a decade+ old engine's limitations. Just like DotA2, for what that's worth, and frankly the majority of other AoS knockoffs. As Salmon noted, the AoS knockoff field hasn't so much stagnated as freaking fossilized, to the vicious detriment of the general concept's potential.

... though yeah, as with SG, I still hold out the vague hope someone, some day, will pull their head from file miles inside DotA's cloaca and actually do the play style justice. S'not today, but perhaps one day.
