My old English teacher would probably have heart attack from reading that, she was always so adamant about "proper English", whatever that is...
Mine would have just gone ahead and actually used excalibur instead of brandished it at people.Excalibur was a wooden prop sword she used to threaten the class.

... re: Food stamps, what I've seen on the ground actually (albeit rarely) happening is that the person on stamps will get food, and then sell it to other people at lower-than-grocery-store prices. This is the primary way I've noticed food stamps turning into cash -- nothing fancy with passing around cards or some such nonsense, just someone going and stocking up on a few hundred dollars worth of meat (and several dozen worth of actual going-to-eat food) and then selling it off to folks not on stamps, but (usually) still quite poor.

As shonus laid out, mostly, only I've usually not even seen the person passing over the cash present. They just give a list or whatev', if that.

A fairly decent, fairly gritty, definitely lengthy (Well over a million words) superhero web serial. You can find it here. It's been latched on to by SB/SV and probably a few other places for the last while, so it's producing some pretty decent fanfiction.

Supcom and TA just kinda' blend together to me, really. Hence it's a Supcom/TA xover (with worm) -- I consider them largely the same thing. Maybe better written as (Supcom/TA) or somethin', I'unno. They're both largely defined by bullshit space magic of the most wonderfully snowbally kind, and I love them for it.

Lost sleep reading this last night. I am a terrible sucker for Supcom/TA crossovers.

For what it's worth, I've never played it. Was just flexing the google-fu a bit. Only n64 sorta-RPG things I played were Quest (HAHAHAHAHA) and Ogre Battle (lovely game). Admittedly that's like 40% (mild hyberbole!) of all N64 RPG-type things but still.

why is it so cold
Probably the seasons getting their swing in for you complaining about the heat during your last summer. Turns out they get pissy when people can't pick a temperature and bloody stick with it.

Always does make me want to strangle people, anyway. Complain it's too cold during the winter, too hot during the summer, and either not hot enough or not cold enough during spring or fall. Screw all that -- give me winter and below freezing, and damn the heat to the muck covered hole it oozed out of. Every season but winter can go crawl up their own arses and die.

More productively: Blankets. Layers. Towels, extra clothing, whatever's laying around. So on, so forth. Warming up is easy. It's cooling off that's troublesome. Is problem with having core temperature that hovers over 90F. We produce a lot of freaking heat, really.

List updated. Also, Frumple, I got your message and will be adding the games to the list either tonight or tomorrow morning. Right now I'm heading out to meet a friend. Keep the sign-ups coming! Everything must go!
Cheers, S.

If anyone wants to go ahead and sign up for 'em, Eador: Masters of the Broken World, Unity of Command: Stalingrad Campaign, and Cubetractor got thrown into the pile.

... huh. Well, I'll throw in for Wizardry 6 & 7 and Aquaria.

Out of curiosity, if we foisted some similar bundle chaff off on you, Sap, would you be alright with that?

Maybe I've just been awake too long, but there's something both vaguely counterproductive and mildly enraging about berating someone that's been burnt out by berating.

I will say, though, it's possible to burn out guilt and regret and all that useless bullshit without burning out caring in other ways. Good place to be, really. Guilt's completely fucking useless, as is regret and so on and so forth. Learn and change and deal with the new consequences or don't and deal with the old ones. Feeling bad about it does jack-all.

Not the easiest thing to internalize but once you do so many things become so much less painful.

And remember. The correct response to someone trying to guilt trip you is either a literal or metaphorical fork to their eyeball. Shit should not stand. Is not fair play, should not be treated as fair play, should be responded to with a kick to the crotch and a double-arm defenestration. Admittedly the situation usually precludes that, but that's the ideal response. Geneva convention of social interaction gets broke, it's time to bust out the WP.

We're all wizards at this point, but no, no, a laptop actually can (do note, can =/= will) run for quite a while without a functioning fan. I had an acer laptop that went something like 4-5 years like that, and didn't even have the decency to die, in the end -- I upgraded to something else. Admittedly, I picked up a handful of first degree burns  over its post-fan lifetime -- hot metal is hot -- but still. It worked.

Now, if the laptop literally has no fans and no exhaust ports, damn. I don't even know what to think about that. Are we sure it's actually a laptop and not, in fact, some kind of fancy TV that's mimicking one? Perhaps there are tiny demons inside, rapidly painting new scenes on the monitor.

... could I get a transcript? That website is such unutterable shit* that it completely refuses to load on this computer :-\

*Why are all news sites apparently ungodly travesties of code these days? What's up with that?

Or just a plate or something. Anything that's actually solid, really.

+1 life lesson learned, Avis. Don't lift apotheopizza via paper.

What's a sheet tray? My vocabulary has failed me.
One of these.

Sweet zeus, no. Summon pricing has been a snafu since the beginning, from what I understand.
