Hell, minimum wage nothing, zero income folks can fail to qualify for medicaid. It's not the easiest program to get in to, to say the least. It's pretty easy to lose access to these programs, as well. If you want to see the shitty implementation of a welfare system, come on over. We've got oodles of examples.

I'd rather it be leeks or leaches than bits of critically endangered animals.
... lice have become endangered? What?

Heh.  How would you divide Russia? :)
I'd think the most economical way would be with either a wall or a canal. The latter might even be a positive for the economy.

Somehow, people in Korea started believing that grinding up house leek and putting it in yoghurt is a panacea that prevents cancer, diabetes, atopy, and also strengthens your immune system.

....??
Nono, it's spelled "placebo" not "panacea" :P

Also possibly "nonfunctioning" but eh.

Bright side, though! At least it's leeks and not lice or leeches.

... more seriously it's most likely someone in the leek business got canny and started a stealthy marketing trend. Follow the money and you find the cause. Or yogurt business, sure.

It's fucking horrifying, whatever it is.

It's... entirely possible if their normal situation is such that you don't really use any of those for an extended period. I have trouble remembering the phone number of the place I'm staying, don't know the zip code, and probably would forget some or all of my name if it wasn't so short -- I barely ever hear or use it. You just... when you don't really use the stuff, you have trouble remembering it. Or forget it entirely. And plenty of that's information we just... record somewhere, these days, so we have less pressures re: remembering 'em.

No, I'm focusing on the underscore there. Seems out of place.
I think space is just offering an example. Y'know. Spehss == _. Like. See? It's a space after space. Ha ha!

And yet that -- filching ideas from other sources -- was exactly one of the things you cited as Riot, via whoever pendragon is, doing wrong, P. DotA's long been among the kings of that. Entirely unoriginal, no, but about as close to it as you can get, yes. As for the various other shenanigans, I'm fairly sure you'll find something similar enough somewhere in DotA's history just as well if you go looking. The whole thing's long been a mess. There's been people acting pretty shitty in both game's history.

I don't actually have a problem with prolific "inspiration", m'self (my annoyance with DotA and everything that spawned from it, including LoL, is more that its influence badly stagnated the AoS genre, but that's neither here nor there), but I'm not going to tar and feather one company for doing the exact same thing a different one does unless I tar and feather both. Which I do, really. As I said, I wouldn't give either game money if you paid me to. If they weren't free, I wouldn't touch either with a ten foot pole.

18519
Profligate molesticide, perhaps. I'm not even sure what that is, but it sounds like it would fit.

@ Put: And DotA's been creatively bankrupt since day -1, on top of all the nasty shit the community (including the devs, from time to time) has gotten up to over the years. You don't play these games on the merits of the creators, because neither game has any. Beyond the merit of being superlative plagiarists and not entirely terrible UI monkeys, anyway.

I wouldn't be giving money to either company for their work on those particular games. Which is why I don't, and ignore the cash shops. The ruddy things are free, you're not giving anything to the companies in question unless you actually spend money. Don't do that.

Eh, minor but existent. I tend to hear older men advising younger to stay away from the women (in the sense of sex and intimate relationships in general, mind you). This is coupled with a complete disbelief that they will and, from everything I've seen, a notable belief that something is wrong when they actually do.

It just tends to be the same men, giving the same sort of advice, in the same sort of tone, as "stay away from booze", as they drink and indulge in adultery and whatnot. As Neo notes, the counter-purity culture is considerably stronger.

18522
No, nothing to do with the community, that's a universal constant among games of that kind. It's more that Riot's a terrible company.

Also, Aeon of Strife was first :P
Dynasty warriors, iirc. AoS was roughly second (and better known, obviously enough, since the whole lot's named after it).

Have you still not actually played LoL?

E:... but nah, DotA players try to get their hate on for LoL players because of standard Us vs Them bullshit with a side of elitism and desperate attempts to justify their belief that DotA is something beyond the perennial AoS knockoff. Most of them neither know anything nor give a damn about Riot, nor do they care enough to learn jack-all about DotA. It has little to nothing to do with comparative merit.

This is roughly the same for those of both sides that actually try to spew malice for the other, mind you.

18523
Sweet hell, what about that place do they dislike so much they're willing to go through electrocution to escape?

18524
I think RK's trying to avoid getting drunk enough to follow through with that line of thought, D.

Point being made: No one* would actually care if the UK consisted of nothing but a communist Sussex and still called itself UK. Whether it's a monarchy or not has zero influence on whether people call it a kingdom. People call it a kingdom because they've been calling it a kingdom, and no one* really cares beyond that.

I really don't care about the monarchy either way. I'm just objecting to the objection it would require a name change if the UK got rid of it.

*Read more clearly: Not enough to make a difference.

That sounds a little like a false equivalency dude...
Talk to LSP, not me. I'm not the one that made the comparison :P Lot of stuff gave the world the industrial revolution, plenty of it quite nasty.

E: More explicitly: Something's contribution, no matter how large, to the industrial revolution is no good reason to consider it inviolate.
