... yeah. Reaching the point I half think Skill Focus: Use Magic may be the best feat in the game. Third level gnome illusionist (illusions are up to CR10 now~), second level of the dungeon. +1 wand of beast summoning. Getting stuff like elite behirs (CR 15 creatures*.) out of it.** Three rolls, taking the best off, every time I fire a wand. Don't have any offensive stuff yet barring cleansing light (so much for graveyards), but when that comes... last critter rolling like this was getting 10d10 shots out of shard wands. Beautiful stuff. Conceptually you've got a limited supply of them -- you can run out of charges -- but in practice... in practice, you don't run out. Wands are great.

*E: To put this in perspective, if it weren't for the time limit an elite behir could probably solo the entire end-game goblin camp. Even with protection from <foo> getting in the way, since it has a damaging breath attack.
**... which, looking at the description of the wand, means the too-high-CR-goes-hostile thing isn't working. Thank zeus. If it was, summoning wands would be completely unusable.

Did none of you go to school at a young age or something?
Pretty much everything school tried to teach I learned sooner and/or better outside of it *shrugs* Or at least outside the regular classroom.

This is mostly because, well. Florida. Some of the teachers tried, but... it's hard to do a good job when you're underpaid, overworked, both over and under regulated, and dealing with a classroom full of 20-30(+) young children, better than half of which have their own particular problems with learning. Half-assed creche system produces half-assed results <what-can-you-do.jpg>

Typing fast has no real use, it's just great for it's own sake :v
Factually untrue. Stenography (court-room note-taking stuff), taking dictation, taking notes on the fly (for meetings, etc.), so on, so forth. There's plenty of stuff that you either need to type fast to do, or typing quickly (and accurately, of course) makes considerably easier and more effective. Plus faster typing means more stuff done, with work that involves anything involving typing. Plenty of uses for typing fast.

I friggin learned to read from vidya. Link to the Past and Super Mario RPG helped most, I'd think.
More or less this, though it started with... SMB3, I think. Had to read those letters, man. That and the sonic comic books. I want to say the early one with Robotnik building a sports stadium was the first thing I read on my own front to back. 'bout a year later I was neck deep in the early star wars EU stuff >_>

World of warcraft taught me to type.
Infantry, for me. I'd had (plenty) of typing class stuff earlier, but that was what really crystallized it. It also taught me most of what I know of general writing. And spelling. Don't ask how, I'm not a hundred percent sure.

Different tastes, I suppose. I can't even drink soda.
No surprise. Soda is the nectar of the gods, so it makes sense that you wouldn't be able to stand it.
Gods of pain and acid may... be...

.... huh. Vitriolic fire would be a good way of describing it, actually. Soda is the drink of the Malfeas. Which. Okay, I guess that's a sort of god?

Really though reflux is a serious nuisance and anything carbonated is entirely too good at kicking it off, apparently. Fifty-third Palm of Resplendent Sugary Burning?

Which I guess would make Mountain Dew the most glorious of holies, as it is closest in form to the divine Green Sun? Though there is other green colored burning helldrinks out there...

...That was probably the last possible reply to that I would have expected.
Dunno why. Pretty sure smacking crabs with a wand is part of a gynecologist's normal operating procedures.

Yeeaaah... I guess listen to the doc, but what happened to me is... pretty close to the same thing, and the folks I went to immediately put me on a light physical therapy regimen directed at strengthening the lower back muscles. Which... worked. Doesn't really do anything for the spine itself, iirc (beyond taking some pressure off it, I guess), but it helps the rest of the body compensate for it, or somethin' along those lines. It's been a few years, and I was kinda' in too much pain to pay too much attention anyway.

Incidentally, though, lower-back stuff (or at least the stuff I did) involved no standing at all. All sitting or hands/knees stuff, and a bit with a balance ball.

In any case, it's either going to be something like that or surgery, so far as I'm aware. Maybe a brace or somethin'. Wheelchair, I'unno. There's not really much you can do for the spine, y'know?

@ mastah: Have they put you on the whole lower-back strengthening exercise stuff yet? If not, you might want to look into it and start up yourself. It's absolute agony starting out, but after a bit things get better, and if you can keep it up (I kinda' didn't, which is why I've felt like spikes were driving into my spine for the last week or so), stay that way.

Kill Six Billion Demons
That's... short. So far. But nice. Reminds me of Exalted, to a degree. Also woah, simultaneous post.

In other news, I've just listened to about an hour's worth of Prokofiev. Another four or so before I run out of material. Peter and the Wolf dude is... kinda' excellent.

Bloody hell steel, now I have a horrible compulsion to sew random names onto my clothing, probably in odd places. "Oh, <name>? I have no idea who they are, but I have their pants and I'm guessing they're at least a few miles from here. Not worried.

The jacket, though... I know who that came from. Stole it from a drunk hobo in Orleans. Never did catch their name, though."

You tend to direct fear at the source of danger instead of the cause.
Yesss... but fear and dislike are different things. I'm phobic of boats (well, boats actively on the water, anyway), but that doesn't mean I have any enmity towards them. They're neat things, I just won't get on them, and just because the back of my mind screams about (probably nonexistent) giant things in the water when I'm on them doesn't mean I don't like 'em in other capacities.

18911
... that's no reason to dislike the dog :-\

Pity it, maybe. Treat it cautiously, definitely. But any dislike should be heaped on its owner, not the dog. Don't blame the victim for being abused, y'know?

This isn't discussing the ROM*, though :P Just the translation and the game itself, both of which are acceptable topics.

Anyway yeah, Chaos Seed. Dungeon Keeper meets Secret of Mana meets feng-shui. It's great. I love it. I need to play it more, soon.

*At least until someone posts a link to one or asks for it, which. Don't. That is crossing the forum ToS line.

It took me a minute to notice what's wrong.

Now, who the hell ever makes a graph upside-down?
Politicians, Fox news, and people who are incredibly insistant that their way is the right way and you're stupid.
Though I think in that case, it's mostly so they can pull the "blood dripping from the walls" thing. Which is kinda' neat, artistically, but terrible, statistically.

18914
I'd... guess the alien element? I mean, I wouldn't expect a wizard to be a pure consumer* -- they'd be producing as well, most likely, and I'd imagine there'd be a notable number of edge cases where they'd be a net producer (if only to make sure their local "ecosystem" is thriving and able to support them.). So it wouldn't make much sense, t'me, for them to be a triffid or scavenger sort of thing. More along the lines of a farmer or conservation manager.

*Unless you're working with something like a Darksun setting, where magic burns ambient lifeforce and whatnot.

I live in Florida.
This is why I don't go outside.  I get enough crazy seeping in through the windows and during my trips to the corner store thanks.
This person gets it.

Also it is too hot. Which is probably half the reason it's as crazy as it is. The other half is a mix of low income and drugs.
