Dunno what you're blathering about talking about the modern world. Wasn't a fair chunk of what was preserved on Pompey's walls basically the exact same damn thing, just without the ability to take a bloody picture? Gods know we haven't gotten any more sex obsessed in the last few millennium than were already were the dozens before it. Just more efficient at bragging.

Yes, that's right. We have arcane powers greater than the wizards of yesteryear -- entire goddamn swathes of our species are now arcane behemoths compared to the legends of old -- and we use it more than most things to share amongst us tales of promiscuity and pleasure.

And thank the nonexistent gods for that. Of all the things to idolize and functionally worship, it's darn sure one of the better ones. Three cheers for fornication!

If... if helps any Sky, remember that they're getting likely dozens to hundreds of similar e-mails. Quite possibly per day. That's why they've got automated systems, painful as running into them may be. You'd probably need to e-mail someone specific -- usually an advisor or somethin' -- to get, well, a personal response.

Who the fuck designs an automated reply system that takes 10 days to respond?
Bugs, overload of some sort... it's not entirely uncommon for universities to be using legacy systems that might be literally a decade old. Place I'm going currently to is fairly small, but until like last year was using a system that was DOS based -- as in, built before win 3.1. Wouldn't expect it from somewhere as large as UoT, but it's known to happen.

... also what sergarr said, ha. Why spend money when you can offload the work on your students and get them to pay you for the privilege of building your software infrastructure? I mean, besides quality.

I just found out that the average WPM reading speed is 200. Woah. No wonder it takes most people so long to finish books. I thought that it was much higher than that.
At first I was like, "That doesn't seem so bad."

And then I actually checked the numbers and noticed that's over 8 hours to read 100k words. Those poor, poor souls :(

E:Thanks to the magic of XKCD, I have today learned that, apparently, the first human name we're aware of could be (probably mis)pronounced as "Eerie Whore".

I RAN OUT OF MY FAVOURITE SCOTTISH TEA TODAY, ALL I HAVE NOW IS A HOT CUP OF WATER AND RAGE!
I thought that was scottish tea? Aren't they too busy throwing logs around in grand homoerotic competitions to boil plants?

Peoples. Halp. My mind is telling me there is a Maoyuu Maou Yuusha fanfic out there, that I'm fairly sure is fairly lengthy and may or may not be a crossover with fate/stay night. I cannot find it. It is driving me up the wall. I've seen one potential mention of it on a site that appears to be down and like, nothing else. Has... has any other fic readers here happen to have ran across it? And remember what it was called/where to find it?

... yeah, wow. Those peppers look like they're writhing in pain. That... that's a neat party trick. "Hey, wanna' see what happens when you inflict unending torment upon a plant?"

Other Games / Re: Games with Ants/ where you can play ants?

It doesn't, no. Do note, however, that you were really jonesing for a game you could probably arrange one with folks here at B12. There's actually been a few WC3 rounds played over the years, some of which involved Ant maps.

... also PC. And a few other things. But yeah, SimAnt and the WC3 custom maps -- there was more than one, by different people, iirc. -- are all I'm aware of. Unless you count that one war game style one involving insects that I've forgotten the name of. That'un was more than just ants, though, I think.

Wait, wait. There was... a thing. Gods alive, I can't remember what it was called. *googles* Ant War. Just... that. Kinda' strategy/sim-y, iirc. Think there was one or two tie ins to those 3d animated ant movies, too. Google finds stuff *shrugs*

There are methods appropriate to every situation. You don't have to use fellatio to solve everything.
Just because you don't have to use fellatio to solve everything doesn't mean you can't. Admittedly it gets more challenging when the party to be performed upon has nothing to fellate, but by the gods if that's not why we have modern medical and material science I don't know what is.

The reproduction step for me is literally for the Incursion window to lose focus for any reason. Alt-tab, minimize, whatever. Upon returning to the screen, some sort of action has to be performed to cause the window to update. It happens in any window*, any game state, etc. It happens full screen just as readily as windowed, as well.

I would agree it's probably something SDL related, though -- I've had similar issues with ToME4, which is SDL based, and whatever was causing it wasn't consistent across users. Is there anything beyond reproduction steps that might help?

*E: Ah, though if you mean different versions of the windows OS, I'm currently on Vista. I'll actually be able to test on a few different computers next week (local school's campus) and see if the behavior is the same there, but that'll be two or three days from now.

Also, I believe that monsters are scaled by a function of your level and dungeon level when they're generated.
That... is something I'd have to defer to a code diver to check. I'm fairly sure critter generation is primarily dungeon level based, secondarily room based (vaults and floating rocks, ferex, have higher CL stuff), and tertiarily randomized somewhat if Out of Depth monsters is active. If player level is heavily involved I'd be a lil'surprised.

I usually play with OoD off (and challenge mode on -- it evens out the difficulty a bit and lets things get crazy in the end, without being nightmare level crazy), so...

Cheers, choose. That's going to be a major benefit to the game's stability.

For other folks trying out the new stuff... anyone else having what I'd guess you'd call performance issues? Game's running fairly smoothly (well, except for character generation -- rolling stats and whatnot are taking considerably longer than they did previously), but it's also pretty consistently chewing up the entirety of one of my CPU cores. Fairly sure this is some kind of video card/etc. issue on my end, but I'd like to know if anyone else is having the same trouble. Like to get some feedback on the issue before I submit anything on it to the tracker.

Similarly, is anyone else having rendering (I guess that's what it is, anyway) stop after a window focus change? I can swap over to another program or minimize, and when I come back to Incursion the screen will be blank until I enter some kind of action -- move, pull up the character sheet/inventory, etc. Again, fairly sure this is some kind of video/renderer issue, probably on my side more than libtcod or whatev', but it's more than a little annoying, ha.

I have, I believe, for the first time I can remember, been contacted by a glitchy robocaller. The machine* asked for a person, told them not here. It said sorry, skipped a lil', and then said the exact line a second time. It was interesting. Like... oh hey. You're not actually human. Peace out, whoever you're representing.

*And I have to say, they've gotten a lot better in regards to audio fidelity and whatnot in the past few (several, whatever) years, haven't they?
