Other Games / Re: Incursion

If that wasn't literally one of the mist/fog covered rooms (there are precisely two that have naturally occurring normal fog -- elemental rooms and th'actual mist-filled ones -- and then one with acid mist and another with nausea inducing gas), then it wasn't a surprise :P And if the fog was moving at all, it definitely wasn't.

Whenever you see fog, anywhere else, that means you're run into one of a very specific set of critters. Of them, something like two (One or two of the nymphs, and fog elementals. Maybe something else I'm forgetting.) aren't primary spellcasters of some sort. All the rest of them (note: This includes higher level dragons) are going to be spellcasters. So if you see a moving fog bank -- you know that's almost certainly a caster. Pray it's using a druid spell list and not a wizard's.

Really need to check the repository's issue list thingy, but speaking of that, has anyone mentioned the whole "Spellcasters generate with every bloody sustained spell they have running" thing? Higher CL wizards are the worst thing. Not necessarily because of their vicious spells or anything, but because they usually generate with somewhere in the range of multiple thousand mana worth of sustained spells running. And if you're not a caster (or willing to use wands, but good luck with that when you've ran into something running a wandweird spell that has a radius larger than your screen.), doing anything to something like that is... not very viable. You hit them, and take 30+ damage from stacked fire/death/etc. shields. You fire projectiles and hey, missile protection. You try to go reach (which usually ignores melee-ranged retaliation) and... hey, they're larger than normal and punch you in the face anyway. Also they've probably been blessed with a few hundred more HP than they have any right to have, ha.

Bloody nuisances. Usually really easy to avoid because having all those sustains up means they're a gigantic multicolored (from sphere of invuln/wandweird/etc.) rolling fog bank (obscurement), but still ruddy annoying.

It turned out, in this universe, that magic didn't exist. All my guy did was dance around and scare people (since everyone believed in it).

I should have chosen the tank.
No, no. You have a wonderful opportunity, here. You have a character so capable of convincing others magic exist, that they actually believe it.

You have a duty, now. All the point-equivalents into the diplomacy equivalent. You shall become the diplomage. The person so insanely skilled at deception that when they fake throwing a fireball at people, the people actually spontaneously combust. Able to tell people you just cast levitation upon them, and cause them to float. Able to speak to reality, "I have teleported." and have reality accept it as truth.

What's the DC on convincing the laws of physics they don't exist?

Are there more D&D themed webcomics?I know there's the one that looks like it's drawn by an 8 year old, but otherwise? It's mostly just a single one here and there.
I've been reading Will Save World for Gold for a bit. Mostly a sprite comic (I guess.), but it's pretty well done. OotS is an obvious one, of course. There's at the very least a couple more I'm forgetting, as well.

Where's all our experienced Incursion players? We've got a new dev who needs playtesting and gameplay complaints.

I'll be following your work intensely. Expect a list of things I exploit regularly [and things I generally hate, usually total balance-breakers]. Since I couldn't finish Incursion without cheating in one way or another, really.
Busy with school and work, mostly.

Maybe a bit late to the discussion, but re: Knock, I would almost certainly say it needs to not unlock chests, or at the very least have a DC component, same as lockpicking does. Alternatively, have it burn held mana ala cure spells (probably around the rate of dungeon level*2 or something. Chests are big deals.) to unlock containers.

As is, effectively free unlocking of containers -- which are, more or less bar none, the best* source of equipment in the game -- would be a bit much. Everyone else either has to invest in lockpicking, luck onto a wand of opening -- which aren't terribly common -- or risk breaking stuff. Which they should, since those things are ridiculous loot bags. Wizards really shouldn't get a free pass to that on top of all the other vaguely ridiculous advantages they get.

*The only things that matches or surpasses quality are vaults and floating islands, and both of those carry the potential for viscous doombeasts. Nothing matches the quantity of non-mundane loot tied up in chests.

5. Grind a digestive biscuit down to crumbs.
A... what biscuit? *googles*

... oh. Oversized animal crackers. Hrm. I'm glad we don't call them that, over here. It sounds more like something that would come out of a person than go in them.

On waffles, though. Is thought.

Ehn. Your freedom is defined by what freedoms you remove from it. Freedom unfettered is nothing.

And I kinda' ken the feeling, really. Makes me feel kinda' wistful, I think would be the right word. There is something appealing to the thought of being able to just... leave some of the details of existing to someone else. Let them handle some of the worrisome scutwork, y'know? Help carry some of the burden of choice. Tis many the day when the devil Choice is a terrible weight and a vicious yoke upon a soul.

Of course, the key word is wonderful, more than anything. Even more appealing is the thought of having someone in your life you could actually trust enough -- and who knows you enough -- to make decisions for you that will be to your benefit and happiness.

Eh... maybe (hell, probably) going about it the wrong way, but what they're trying to do (assuming the article is actually credible to any degree -- a lot of headlines along these lines massively blow things out of proportion) is break down the -- definitely existent -- pattern where males and females can indulge in the exact same behavior and see the former praised (assertive, a leader, etc.) and the latter condemned (bossy, nag, so forth). Basically, men can be called bossy, but it takes notably more extreme behavior for it to happen. Different thresholds before the acts begin to draw ire, which is where the problem is, especially considering how much emphasis is put on assertive behavior these days.

Because by the love of all gods, I am now imaging a vaguely amazon one-eyed lady swinging around a short fat man wearing bagh nakh.
It would create the most amazing mass killing headline the world has ever seen.
Fixed that for you.
I'm having difficulty envisioning how those would be attached to a steel bra, but will accept your greater expertise in the realm of environmentally hazardous crossdressing.

... so how would the nailbat option work? MZ gets huge piercings? Or just very pointy clothes?

Because by the love of all gods, I am now imaging a vaguely amazon one-eyed lady swinging around a short fat man wearing a spiked metal bra. Impaling all the fools on his icepick nipple guards.

It would create the most amazing mass killing headline the world has ever seen.

... I don't think most feminists really try to explain physical preference all that much. Cultural stereotypes and media bullshit is an issue and a problem, but personal tastes are still a fairly untroubled thing. Mind you, where the line between the two is, exactly, is a different question but the average feminist I've ran into is more concerned about unhealthy physical image (See: Media.) than any preference one sort of bosom or another.

Still, there's plenty of reasons, ranging from mildly creepy (YOUTH!) to fairly blasé (simple aesthetic preference with no underlying cause, attraction to other secondary or primary sexual characteristics, omnipreference of varying degrees). Liking the curves doesn't mean you dislike the straightaway, or really care which road you're motoring down. Maybe you're concerned more about where you park, I'unno.

Porkchops and bacon are two very different taste/texture sensations. They may be made from the same critter, but they are almost nothing alike otherwise. Liking one means little to nothing in regards to the other, yes. So it's not really that weird if you like one but not the other*.

*Though a dislike of bacon is a confirmation that you are not, in fact, of the human species. Tell your alien overlords we are on to them, and that giving such an obvious tell is bad craft.

I've yet to encounter a chocolate I could not eat, but some of the darker ones have really tempted me. I don't really have a preference, beyond "more" and "something other than dark". But I'll still eat dark chocolate, too. Normal american-style chocolate is fine. Fancy other-place chocolate is also good. Syrup, white, cheap, quality, whatever. Bring on the chocolate.

Even if I have been trying to stay away from caffeine and the moral issues that pop up from time to time regarding the chocolate industry are fairly troubling.

Since you don't have any ranged sacreds short of the Conj-9 Seraph
And the conj 6 harbingers! Who come with a3 and an AoE ranged attack to boot. Kinda' iffy attack though... may be AoE and armor piercing, but it's only a base 5 damage vs anything not undead or demonic. Still...

... again, the likely explanation, at least from what I've seen, is that it's there for more or less the same reason men have nipples. It's so strongly selected for in one sex that it happens to stick around for the rest of the species.
