... drunk solid light nightwalkers? Hell, if we're dealing with that level of technology, they could probably taste like cake.

That said, condolences O & Co. If it makes you feel any better (admittedly doubtful, considering the no-cake was a small part of it), I haven't had cake on my birthday for a few years now. Usually treat m'self to meat, instead, but eh.

Huh. It does precede the trilogy fairly notably, though... buncha' stuff that happened to bilbo basically enabled a buncha' stuff that happened in LotR. It might not have been originally written to be a prequel to the later three, but it still... kinda' is?

That said, though admittedly the trilogy is more popular, I have to note I've read the hobbit like... probably more than twenty times. I re-read it a lot when I was younger.

I never actually finished reading the trilogy. Iirc, I stalled part way through either the second or third one :-\

A week free from quickbooks, and now I'm back to it, hahaha!

Today's buggerup: For some reason or another, Quickbooks is now refusing to actually load (It otherwise crashes immediately on opening) unless I delete the user .ini file. I have to go back and delete it again any time I want to change company files. It is, of course, hidden in the local appdata junk instead of somewhere that makes the process non-troublesome.

Getting better at dealing with this piece of shit program, though! It only took like half an hour of support database trawling and metaphorically kicking the goddamn thing until it started working again. Still makes me want to feed the program's QA people to a wood chipper. Well. Maybe just part of them. The brain, maybe. They don't seem to have been using that.

E: And, of course, being introduced to new aspects of the program continues to make me want to grab someone by the throat and shake them until they explain why no fucking aspect of this goddamn UI is consistent.

... y'know, things being as they are, it's not entirely impossible Hans did at one point, and just can't remember it.

... and it's still better than a great deal of published works, occasionally matching literary greats. Sturgeon doesn't apply to fanfiction much more extensively than it does to any other form of writing.

And yeh don't have to be a prick about making your point, aye?

I, uh, think with MZ the problem with that would be better value == bigger cost, with the 90/m already likely putting more strain on the budget than desirable.

Gods know I'm not looking forward to when family stops helping me out with that bit. 90 bucks a month is basically my entire food budget, and I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it's more expensive in my area.

*vague shrug* It was thursday when I responded last.

Regardless, it would still have been the same. Same wording's used M-F. Y'just ran into a dialect difference and I didn't find it pressing to respond to something asking about stuff two weeks out. Can call that an effort fail, but it wouldn't have happened if you'd just said "this weekend" :P

Last weekend or the passing weekend (usually the latter, 'cause sometimes last weekend gets used like next weekend if it's early enough in the week.)) is for weekends before (or "yesterday", or "day or two ago" variations for monday, sometimes tuesday with the second). This weekend or coming weekend is for weekends approaching. Next weekend is for weekends after this weekend.

And that's the Digital Dialect Vagrancies Diary entry for 28/3/2014.

Why cheese on everything?
*vague shrug* Don't question me as to why cheese tastes good on nearly everything. I've got nothing substantial to do with the fact that cheese is one of the foods of the gods. CWHW stands self-evident. It's frankly telling I only had to swap one letter to get that jest to fit. Even Abraham knew that cheese is like unto YWHW, and he didn't even use an alphabet that it fits well in. I'm guessing, anyway, since I don't exactly know hebrew or whatev'.

Seriously though, cheese popcorn is solid, plain popcorn with cheese melted over it is quite decent, plain popcorn with cheese powders of varying sorts applied is also pretty alright.

There's a short list of foods that don't go well with cheese, and an many-times-exponentially-larger list of foods that do. Cheese is great.

And to be fair, it's not cheese on everything. Just almost everything. Everything cheese improves, which is nearly everything edible and some things that aren't.

E: What I'm saying, is that when the Grecians spoke of the Ambrosia of Olympus, they were talking about a fine cup of melted Gouda. Deal with it :P

The answer here is either Tarran is not specific enough, or Frumple failed a perception check.
Hrng. It's more that "next weekend" is... very unspecific, where I'm at. You say next weekend on a thursday/friday, it can either mean the coming weekend (i.e., 1-2 days later -- "this coming weekend" or just "this weekend" is, in fact, what is generally used) or the weekend after, and more often the latter than the former.

But yeah, I could probably manage to show up this weekend. Next one, I may or may not be able to show on saturday, but sunday'd be free.

So the sky is currently doing this.
... why isn't this in the happy thread, exactly?

Your pretty video of electrofury reminded me it's been a darn long time since I've been in a proper thunderstorm... kinda' miss it, now that I notice the lack.

Okay I'm jealous because lightning is so cool and that's all cloud lightning. Bolt/ground lightning is terrifying as shit.
Ground lightning is also awesome and wonderful, so long as it's not hitting anything important or particularly flammable. The thought of (near) instant electric death is somewhat troublesome, but A) Awesome way to go, and B) It's still incredibly beautiful. After the first one hits and the sound of a strike stops startling you, it's even a really neat noise ♫

Eehhh, pointless I wouldn't call it, least for my region. Popcorn's actually one of the least expensive salty snacks on the market around here, and it's not too bad with some cheese.

Or just cheese popcorn period, but that's more expensive than the plain stuff. *shrugs*

I've screwed up making popcorn. Get outta here, acting like messing up browines is something.
... screwing up making popcorn is pretty easy. Hell, I've had the same microwave, the same day, at widely spread times, burn popcorn when the exact same timing, brand, etc., didn't burn earlier in the day.

And that's not getting into different brands, which can burn at different times, or different microwaves, or different preferences among the popcorn eaters for how burnt the stuff is and just...

... I've have an easier time cooking, like, full course meals than I've had consistently cooking popcorn. Popcorn is my preparatory nemesis. Which is sorta' good, 'cause I don't really like it so I never really pop any.

It can happen, B. It can happen.

Not really the easiest thing in the world to screw up, but it's not impossible.

And... look on the bright side. Nothing caught on fire, right?
