... it's not like I haven't seen worse, no. Was penny ante if you're going for maximum mindfuckery after roaming the net for over twenty years. S'just got a bit of that whole twilight zone feel. Think there was something with crystals a few days (weeks?) back that gave a similar vibe. Even ignoring the blatant stuff, walking in to someone's wall of fetish fuel unexpectedly is, y'know, somewhat offputting. Plus the consistent quality of it... I spent a while just kinda' boggling at it.

Think it might have been invoking something in between body horror and uncanny valley, as well. Weird sensation, thus wtf.

*looking up thief from tear ring saga*

*comes to warn you all to probably not give a google for the word yuni*

Apparently there's a deviant art artist by the name with... tastes. Either that or it's a word with a hella' meaning in some other language.

Like. Bendy is good. But it can maybe go a little far?

... yeah, pretty much every door in this house, internal or external, has a lock. The ones that didn't, I've mostly swapped the doorknobs out for one that does. After a year or two in a dorm, I sleep better when I can lock the room's door.

Also been fairly standard everywhere else I've been, in this area. Usually, if there's not a lock on the door, it's probably a kid's room. Specifically, a kid the parent (or parents, I guess) doesn't trust with privacy. Master bedroom is almost a guarantee'd lockable door, as are bathrooms.

... this is why doors come with locks.

And if yours doesn't, let me just speak from personal experience and tell you that doorknobs are both fairly inexpensive and quite easy to install.

You know Guardian, you've never actually told us what is wrong with being, as you put it, "pro-Western". And I'd like a reason besides Yeltsin, anybody that far into fatal alcoholism would have screwed up running a country.
... didn't the thread just go over how one of the major western powers likes to go about screwing people? Pro-western would kinda' mean supporting folks that do that, which... y'know, has its problems. Major powers in general, western or otherwise, have a storied history of buggering everything. Media metaphorically fellating them is naturally something that should be viewed with suspicion.

Sounds like typical American climate politics to me.
Yeeeeup. S'pretty much par for the course.

Bay12, I've decided to get back into 4x games and buy myself one of the SOTS games. Question is, which one, 1 or 2? Or should I get both? They're in a deal on steam in that way.
... you should get 1. From what I understand muddling through the LPs, 2 is still somewhat of a buggy mess, with emphasis being able to be put of either buggy or mess. 1's pretty solid, though.

Hnyeah, three's good for a decent game. I'll leave y'all to it... no point in dragging a game down if there's enough bodies already. Someone take autobombs for me :P

...m'also considerably more tired today than I thought I would be... probably going to sleep through the starting time, ha.

Few folks, yeah :P

Personally, probably won't be buying it when it comes out, but almost certainly will at some point in the future (after price drops, et al). If it's only as good as the earlier ones, it'd still be solid. Even if it's not quite as good, well... it'd still be pretty solid. AoW games are definitely on the good side of excellent, heh.

That... sort of came out of left field, didn't it? At what point did I reference B&W, or even suggest mechanics like those in it? I'm talking about a management game/ship designer/FTL-like combination. Also, from a purely technical standpoint, ships don't, as you put it, "shit".
Bioships, you princessless fool! Not only do they shit, when they do it, it counts as orbital bombardment. The great death poo from the sky! *rainbow*

... seriously though, as Cul notes, ships have unwanted byproducts just as much as fleshier things. They just tend to have to have folks climb around inside them and manually remove their crap, instead of the ship doing the work itself. On that thought, though, I'm now wondering if it wouldn't be better if ships were built to take the occasional potty break.

That... sheds some light on things, N. Danke, heh.

I think you've officially taught me more important things about QB than this course will.

... mind you, understanding diminishes not the wroth. But... yeah.

Though I do half wonder if it's not, like... what's that word, something like burden? Not quite a responsibility, but somewhere in there. For the folks that are of the electronic cohort to, like... shield the poor folks that aren't. What good our glory if we cannot save our brethren from depredation, ahahaha!?

By which I mean we totes need to get our mob on and go burn down Intuit headquarters. Something along those lines.

19587
And that's who QBs is targeted at. I sort of automatically have more respect for anyone at a business that works with Quickbooks, because I know they had to put up with it and learn it, which is no mean feat for Southerns living in BFE selling truck parts.

But yeah, there are several layers of stupid built into QBs, from the user level to the developer level. Why they have two different APIs for Canada/US boggles the mind.
... and ah. Yeah, respect for that, but what I picked up from it is they don't know software well enough (well, more like haven't been exposed to it long enough to pick up a sense of decent aesthetics re: functionality.) to know they're getting shit peddled to them. Which... I can understand. I don't have beef with people that use QB. Just the bastards that made it, who I currently want to strangle the incompetence out of.

Also tells me there's a potential market there, which I'm terribly surprised someone hasn't exploited. It wouldn't be terribly difficult (in a relative sense -- it'd still take a lot of work, s'just the bar to pass isn't exactly high) to make something that's less of a train wreck than QB. Doubly makes me wonder why the blazes QB hasn't fixed their mess and locked the market down. Someone is being monumentally stupid, it seems.

19588
... that mildly boggles my mind. How are they managing that kind of market control when they've got a UI that's less consistent than the game this freaking forum is built around?

Seriously, no shit, I've had more alternate control schemes between windows with QB, so far, than I have with DF. It is painful. I would honestly call QB's interface worse than Dwarf Fortress, right now.

E: Jesus hell I just clicked on two different entries in the same window, under the same conditions (clicking into an entry box from a different one), and got different reactions. KILLFRENZYKILLFRENZYKILLFRENZYKILLFRENZYKILLFRENZYKILLFRENZY

19589
Forget one thing -> Have to re-enter roughly an hour's worth of data entry. Because, of course, there's no means of correcting the mistake. At all.

Fuck. Quickbooks.

Just... if it hasn't been implied. Going through school now to help make getting into the accounting field a bit easier. Once I'm there? I will never. Ever. Purchase any piece of Intuit software for professional use. I will also strongly suggest to anyone who asks: Do not buy from those incompetent pieces of shit.

I will sooner do the goddamn accounting by hand, scribing the numbers on parchment made from my own flesh with ink forged the blood of my customers. Than ever willingly add another iota of profit to that godforsaken company.

... This thing? Guessing one of the contributing philosophers?

No, the original title (and likely release) is German. Dude's name is Greg Becker if you really want to google him.
Ooh, that dude? One on top, at least. Apparently interested in heidigger. I can dig that, dude was interesting.

... your school has an interesting name, scrd. Rolls off the tongue like jagged jello.
