Yeah, that combustio scroll was pretty neat. Actually got one in keeper mode (villages can have stores! Shopkeeper can be killed, free amulets, etc., etc.), which I promptly used to set fire to a castle.

Or, well, leave a bonfire at the entrance and immolate a few peasants as they fled from my 10th level named humanoid running around with speed boots (also shop) and an antique axe (duke!)

Apparently you need a certain amount of library squares to research higher tier stuff? I haven't really noticed, m'self.

Beyond that, more libraries are also more things that can catch on fire, haha! And your keeper defaults to standing in them, so they're nice firehoney traps for your keeper, for when you want to die a horrible death.

Just a note, you can continue fighting with a sword after you've lost an arm. You just need to pick it up and re-equip it again.
Yes, Undead are our Black Knight.
The amusing thing to me is that it seems, at least when you're controlling critters, getting your head chopped off doesn't really slow you down. I've had it happen while possessing golems, vampires, and the named humanoids. Fairly funny when you release a minion to see its head laying on the floor, and then the critter just trundles off back to work.

Hey, cheers Miki! Doing good work, and apparently pretty quickly.

Suggestions, though, haha! It might be really nice if imps would put out fires inside your dungeon, ha! Or at least maybe make the keeper immune to environmental fires (if not stuff like lava golem attacks). Maybe a warning that your keeper is standing inside a raging bonfire, cheerfully attempting to read a book that's in the process of immolation.

Full keyboard control in keeper mode would be glorious, heh. At least being able to scroll around with wsad or the arrow keys would be really nice. It took me a good half minute to minute just to figure out how to scroll the view, ha. And that was after I actually figured out it was mouse controlled :P

Multi-tile selection would be pretty great, too, especially for digging. Click one square, click another, select everything between the two, sorta' thing.

Probably on the bucket list, but the keeper (and possibly other critters?) automatically using buffs if it'd help out with their current task would be nice. It's really great that haste self ups the mana generation in the library, but it'd be even greater if the keeper'd do it without prompting.

Minor thing might be to have researching shortcuts inside the summoning bits, so you could upgrade both within, say, humanoid breeding, or the library menu.

More of a message prompt or indication that golems (apparently?) can't use (can't even pick up?) equipment would be pretty nice, too. Letting them pick up (but not use/throw/etc.) stuff might be a neat thing; give 'em a high weight tolerance but inability to do anything with it as a sort of packmule role the other critters don't fit in.

Possessing imps? Imp leveling?

I'm guessing more doors and whatnot are eventually planned? Upgrades (or just better ones to be built) might be neat. An odd thought might be to have something modular. Say you stick a gas trap on top of a door -- now you have a door that goes up in gas when it gets broke down. Boulder falls down (crushing whoever breaks it), training room might fight back, library spit fireballs... etc, so forth, so on.

Any thoughts on expanding the team functionality at some point? Being able to collect (and possibly assign, potentially with subtle changes to the leader(s) and subordinate(s)) teams outside of possession and whatnot has potential. Beyond having a group that sticks together (good for defense), you might be able to specifically assign a gnome crafting squad, keeper bodyguard group, etc.

Anyway, back to sleep. Good to see you around, Devfellow!

There's something vaguely... something... about a quote pyramid developing from a conversation about fear of heights. "Let's talk about being scared of being up high by building something slowly going further vertical!" "Brilliant!"

Note to self: Fire spheres (and maybe lava golems?) can set your training rooms on fire. The fire can spread to doors. Possibly imps. And definitely the library which your keeper is in.

And the keeper is like a frog. If the library slowly ignites, the keeper won't notice and gradually cook to death.

There went that dungeon.

My avatar would look pretty good in a Nazi uniform.

...

...what? With that monocle he totally would.
Let's be honest here. Just about everything looks pretty good in a Nazi uniform. For all the Nazis' faults, they trended toward pretty snappy dressers.

Yeah... as a general tip at th'mo, if you're looking to ease things a bit, set your training room up just past your entrance (leave a few squares for gas traps or whatev') and get a handful of iron+ golems (I've seen clay+stone+iron+3 lava flat wreck a final attack, losing only the clay) running around. They default to training (as do undead and I guess the upper level humanoids, so they'd work, too), so when invaders come they have a nice hoard of angry critters waiting for them on the other side of the door/before they get to the squishy bits of your base. Easy mode is definitely easy, though. It doesn't take much to build up a pretty vicious group of high tier critters. Core it around golems (who more or less can't use equipment) to kit up your dudes off of dead enemies and you're pretty golden.

Only downside to using lava golems is they can and will set the forests on fire if they chase someone into the woods. It's kinda' amusing, but can have you lose out on some easy lumber. Also potentially imps if they go after stuff laying around in the forest fire.

Also, to (tediously) speed mana generation, you can possess your keeper, cast haste self, and then release it and let it work. It'll speed up the generation for a little bit. Bit of a shame the keeper won't auto-buff itself, but eh.

Ah! Yeah, that 20 turn stall wasn't an event. That was the illians' world spell (I think, anyway. Something they're able to do.). Tis a royal pain in the rear, especially earlier on, and something you can expect to see pretty much every game that has the illians putzing around. Fortunately it is a one-shot deal, so it won't happen again.

As for the ashen veil second founding thing, from what I could tell playing with the new version it looks like something that can happen (with more than one of the religions, actually, I think) when you have a civ that starts with a particular religion. Not sure what triggers it, but eventually that religion can get founded more-or-less a second time. No clue if there's any bonuses or whatev' because of it, though.

Might have been it. Vaguely remember some kind of hoofhala causing the split and the LO side of it being somewhat more on the metaphorical side of goodness. S'been a good couple years since I actually looked into it :-\

Hrnnn. Though I do have to consequentially link you to Libreoffice, for... reasons I've actually forgotten. Something nasty I'm forgetting the details of went on with Open Office, and Libre forked from it sans whatever that scruff was. More or less the same thing, just not connected to whatever it is that owns OO nowadays.

Think there's actually one or two more major FOSS office suites like that running around, actually. It's honestly kinda' neat, the history and whatnot that's been going on with those projects. Or I remember it being neat the last time I looked into it, and have since forgotten all details.

... that is some serious Shuma-Gorath channeling right there.

Kinda' makes me wonder how viable a marvel vs. capcom match would be.

Hrm. Crashed on me just as I was starting to ramp up vampire lord production ;_;

Doesn't look like there's a very robust logging feature, so I can't even report the error whatsit that popped up. Shame...

S'definitely changed since the third alpha, heh. Looking good, though some UI extras (click and drag, aiieee) would be nice.
