Just wait to see what nonsense ensues if Microsoft's purchase of Blizzard Activision is approved.   >:(
Probably can't be much worse than what actiblizz was already getting up to, ha.

You clearly need more blankets. Two hundred bucks worth of blankets a month for a few months and you will be goddamn toasty. Especially if you hang some of the spare ones on the walls. Get like four or five of the 30-50 buck king sized ones per go and just pile those things on. technically you'd probably do even better with even more thinner ones, but whatever, you get the idea

... anyway, personal mild-ish sads, grandfather's last brother passed today. Wasn't particularly close to him and my grandfather's like... there's not really enough left of him to really understand or feel bad or so on (dementia can fuck right off, etc., etc.)... so it's here instead of the sad thread proper, but. Yeah. Still sucks even if he wasn't particularly well known to me, just 'cause it means grandfather's out of siblings now :-\

... wait, only one person out of the group in poor health, or with just the one sick critter still alive?

I'll admit, I completely thought that was just talking about the douglas adams book with a remarkably similar name. If there's not some kind of shoutout in the game thing, I'll be disappointed...

IVAN was also, like... intentionally busted, iirc. If I'm not misremembering, at some point the original dev for it basically said straight out it's not really supposed to be winnable. It was, because it could get remarkably broken in some ways, but it wasn't supposed to be. Game was trying to kill you much more pointedly than most roguelikes of its time.

Think some of the later/branch development changed that somewhat, but in general if your difficulty/scaling is "like IVAN" there's decent odds you've done something wrong :P

I've done about as well as I can on that front, I think (household, most immediate family, vaccinated twice and either boosted or planning on it), but the county I'm living in is sitting pretty at sub 40% vaccinated, so. Y'know.

Can't really expect much in a quick resolution when places like florida are cosplaying syphilitic plague pits :-\

... most of the discussion I've been hearing lately, local wise, has been a sort of "Well, everyone's going to get it at some point" type of deal. Nevermind it means with zero doubt the stateside death toll hits seven digits, considering the rate covid is partially or fully crippling people, I think that may be an even more horrible prospect than, say, another couple/few years of what we've been doing. If that sort of perspective actually pans out, we're talking millions, tens of millions of folks less able to entirely unable to take care of themselves in the US over a relatively short timeframe, and that is just going to be a staggering goddamn clusterfuck in the near future.

tv loudly announcing in vaguely racist spanish accent, "I am boar ass, senior! Boar ass!"

I think maybe it's actually supposed to be boris, i'unno. Mr. three (plus) digit bodycount corporate mercenary (Jim Hardy, tales of wells fargo), meet boar ass. I'm sure he's a fine fellow, that boar ass.

Next session one of you can play the scars. Magic dragon scars! They gained sentience and now they fight for booze and gigolos.

It's a colony being, so one person gets to be the scars on both the survivors.

The mana line (prior to the 3D thing I won't even look at) has always had a pretty soft spot in my heart reserved (along with their soundtrack, natch). There's piles of other super pretty ones out there, though.

I can't help but think of the scenario where every member of that party thinks that :P

Hey, don't forget there's been a surprising amount of 2D pokemon knockoffs recently-ish. If you're looking for a sprited pokemon fix, you got sorta'!options.

Could swear the disgaea folks are still doing 2D/spritework stuff, too, if not necessarily mainline disgaea. There's definitely plenty of srpgs floating around, at least :P

Some species of pine are kinda' poisonous, yes. Some aren't! You can do food things to the ones that aren't. You don't want to do food things to the ones that are. Not all pine needles are made equal from a human consumption standpoint.

I've read some stuff suggesting you can sorta' hydrate off of (young, green) pine needles, so like if you're stuck out in the wild and desperately thirsty (and able to identify non-poisonous pine trees!), that'd be something to do.

Pine needle tea is also apparently rather popular -- dice the needles up fine and boil or steep them in water. Can prevent scurvy!

Got one of those 18000% crit damage (masterwork/quoozmade/acute enchanted) quooze sniper bows on a void archer. Currently diving hard to try to get the castle to gen again for some belated regicide, but... well.

Extremely late game, hyper scaled enemies in special areas might have, like, 30-50k points of mixed armor/health, things that are level 150-190 when you're 60-70. Plenty of builds literally can't damage them after a point, their mitigation stats just completely outmatch the damage output.

This thing is critting for up to literally half a million damage (usually a more modest 10-50k, but the rolls involved can stack up), from equally literally several rooms away (the major distinctive ability of void archers is that they can shoot through walls, which is exactly as busted as it sounds). It's blowing up things in this game I didn't even realize could get blown up! Presumably I'll get bored eventually, but... right now, it's a trip.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

E: Wow, I just actually one-shot the king. I didn't think that was actually possible, like, mechanically possible -- I've had other high damage builds take a regicide detour and they still had to deal with the king's phases. Not, uh. Not this critter, though. This critter deleted the king with one attack, and then deleted the king's laser beam buddy, too.

Most anticlimactic boss attempt I've made in this game, ha!

I'd wager it's pretty high, somewhere over thirties or so. Most people don't really pay much attention to the composition of their food/drink intake, heh. There'd be a lot of folks past retirement age that just never thought about it.
