Re: X-COM, it's still going (along with pretty much all of the older generation) for the same price of just Enemy Unknown on Steam, over on Amazon. Also looks like it might include the DLC with it. Does look like it might only be available to US residents, though :-\

Mind you, that's also what they do when you make the right moves, so it's kinda' hard to tell. As Siru says, too much hassle.

Would depend on the type of grass, looking in to it, since apparently grass includes a lot of stuff I didn't really realize it included. Wikipower, etc., etc.

As for basic lawn grass... I'd be surprised if it was very good (grass itself tastes kinda' bad...), but. Maybe give it a try? Looks like you could get a seed pack for pretty cheap, and there's almost certainly a number of places in your area that sells 'em.

E: Googling revealed that... apparently some sorts of grass seed are sometimes used in the brewing of beer. Apparently has a taste similar to an acorn? So, I... guess it's fairly possible?

... what do you intend to do if it does?

Incidentally, best idea for stealth robotics prank during the holidays? Yes. Yes, it is.

Ah ha. Yeah, looking at the list of destinations I can see how you might be worried, GL. Looks like the travel company in question's been around for a while, though, so... trust in the experienced? It does look like it'll probably be pretty interesting, all things considered. Probably have some impressive stories when she gets back.

... consider it retracted, then. Figured it was someone of age if they were going (presumably) overseas/cross continents for an extended period.

'Course, it could be the other meaning of eating and GL is... disappointed, somehow? I guess it would mean she was probably having a good time...

Actually that isn't a commonly used phrase. Trust me, I am an English native.
... I've heard it often enough, m'self. Maybe a bit less common than "Foo won't bite", foo being he/she/it/I/etc. Might be a regional thing, though, of course, with roughly the same connotation.

Really, though, I don't think there's much need to worry about potential cannibalism in SE Asia. Other things, sure, but I don't hear much about that from the region.

Tentative searching points to "unfortunately not".

Which is almost surprising, t'be honest...

*blinks* Oh yeah. Yeah, I didn't even think of that. Rice is for eating, not throwing*. What sort of crazy person throws something you can cook at people? You could eat it!

Then again, it's not terribly edible at this point so I guess that would be a good use for burnt rice... maybe I can freeze it for later...?

*... and apparently drying things. But mostly eating.

I would not feed bad food even to someone I hate :P

Like cooking too much for that. Might not feed 'em, but bad food...? No. I will not feed anything I won't eat to another human. That is anathema! Primo cooking...something something. I only got half credit for that latin class.

... barring stuff I can't stand the taste of but can cook fine, anyway...

And yeah, states.

Excuse me XBone people what the fuck are you doing
It's not serious.

And yet somehow it's still not funny!
... well, no, but... is there a particular reason it's not funny besides it being lame? I feel like I'm forgetting something important.

... hrm. For the first time in my life, out of... probably a couple hundred batches... I have apparently burnt my first pot of rice. Seems there either wasn't enough water or it wasn't covered well enough, one of the two. Which is odd, because it was using the same amount water and degree of covering that every other batch I've cooked here has used, but... whatever, I guess. Does look like most of it is salvageable though, once I pick out the burnt grains. Is something.

E: Or... not. One, this is next to impossible, or at least so time consuming I'd probably finish sometime tomorrow. Two, the rice now tastes like burnt rice, even the rice that isn't burnt. Time for plan B, potato chowder.

... also have to figure out what to do with the rice. I think this is also the first time in my life I've created unpalatable food without a handy less-discerning-than-me animal nearby. Guess I'll stick it in the fridge 'till garbage day...

-snip-

We do the best we can, with what we've got.

Maybe that can help you find something, Frumple?
... I'll definitely look into it, at least. Looks like there's a couple in town.

M'kinda' in a weird spot, health care wise. No income, but I've got insurance (being paid by a family member who I'm fairly sure isn't claiming me as a dependent) and... it just causes problems with certain things. The insurance in question isn't really optimal for someone in my situation due to the co-pay related stuff, heh. Really need to sit down and figure out something better, but life, school, etc., and I honestly don't seem to get sick terribly often so it never seems to put sufficient pressure on me to do something about it, or at least further investigate if anything can be done. Which does occasionally leave me in situations like these or bulling through a sinus headache (second worst pain I've ever felt in my life, ahaha! Admittedly a somewhat distant second because holy shit kidney stone pain, but yeah.), but...

Pretty much goes this way for that sort of illness:[snip]
Yeeaaahhh... had a sandwhich (using up the last of the bread, heh), which isn't giving problems so far, and am cooking up a pot of brown rice. Which is, unfortunately, about the healthiest thing available to me at the moment insofar as stomach troubles go.

And yeah, I've been in this situation more than a couple of times over the years, heh, from food poisoning to stomach viruses to kidney stones. Fairly familiar with what to do these days :P

Th'sentiment is definitely appreciated though, from everyone that's offered diarrhea 101 tips. S'fortunately not even remotely the worst I've had, but unpleasant enough (especially considering it's been a while since something like this hit) and terrible timing.

Haha, yeah. I've literally dreamt of being able to afford preventative care a few times. Maybe in another 5-10 years... but right now, even the least expensive of doctor visits comes to something like a month and a half of transportation costs/2-3 weeks worth of food, and that's not even getting into prescriptions or anything beyond a checkup-with-nothing-done. And my budget is somewhat limited :-\

Go see a doctor.  NOW.  I was hit a couple of years ago with type 1 Diabetes; what you're describing is pretty close to what I went through before ending up in the Intensive Care Unit at the local hospital.  It's not a good scene, believe me.

Better to waste an afternoon at a doctor's office, than have to spend months recovering from a near-fatal state.
Would be nice if it were an option, but it'd be a couple days at best before I could drum up the cash to go to the doctor. Don't really have the free money to cover co-pay at the moment. Not to mention I still need to find a GP or somethin' in the area worth a flip. Folks that know the region still haven't got back to me on that one, bleh.

On the other paw, checking on the symptoms of type 1 I'm not actually displaying any of them. Fairly sure I've just caught some sort of stomach bug/indigestion. S'mostly just been intermittent diarrhea and a little nausea -- and I ate something yesterday that had me giving out odd tasting burps for most of the day. And then I went to sleep early, woke up ten hours later, and have spent the rest of the day as is. Never again, Burger King sausage. Never again. Honestly, s'not even entirely surprising considering I've had fast food less than a dozen times in the last six+ months... some of the stuff they do to those things (spice/seasoning/preparation wise) can be upsetting if you're not accustomed to it.

But yeah, if it doesn't clear up within a few days, doctor trip will be in order. Somehow or another :-\
