What the hell is a "sentai JRPG"? That isn't a term I've ever heard before, and Googling just results in Power Rangers-style tabletop games.
Shorthand for a jrpg drawing significant inspiration from the genre power rangers came out of, basically... it's not common enough to have an actual term for it (at least that I'm aware of, so it probably wouldn't show up in a google search), but it's an easy way to describe the aesthetics and whatnot. LoD was basically a jrpg with heavy sentai/tokusatsu elements, right down to color coordinating the main characters and having regular transformation sequences.

... but yeah, I loathed the qte mechanic in it. It's not impossible to incorporate that kind of thing into a turn based game well -- the handheld super mario rpgs managed pretty solidly, and there's been non-smb franchise games more recently that have, too -- but LoD... didn't :P

e:
while not the whole game, there was a story arc in Saga Frontier that would fit that description...
Though yeah, other stuff involving that kind of design exists, and both pre and post dates LoD, but it's not exactly common, especially (officially) localized and outside the Power Rangers franchise specifically. Still, you know it when you see, heh.

Was Legend of Dragoon really as incredible as I remember it being?
My memory of LoD was that it was a mediocre sentai jrpg (which, fairness where it's due, is a neat concept that had gotten very little play in english before and barely any more since) with a frankly miserable combat system (back when I played it, I'm pretty sure I eventually hit it with some kind of cheating method to make that bloody qte horseshit sod off). Like, outside the frustrating combat mechanic it was alright, but it wasn't incredible, t'me. One of the better 3D jrpgs, just in an era where most 3d jrpgs were remarkably shit for one reason or another, rather than being particularly good.

Mostly an aside here- but I really miss, like, quality spritework. The shift to 3d models between, say, Pokemon and Disgaea has clearly stifled in the variety of characters or creatures either is able to proffer, and I think the loss of variety isn't worth the shift in rendering.
There is a ton of just wildly beautiful sprite work of a wide variety of styles coming out of smaller/indie studios in particular and has been for a while. Rather than miss it, you've just been missing it :P

... super small, but pretty disappointed when a search for "stay a little longer remixes" on youtube turned up a surprising amount of remixes (including a trap drop remix, to which my initial response was "holy shit put that in my belly")... none of which were remixing the old western swing tune that I was actually looking for.

My body was very ready for a few moments, there, but rapidly unreadied :-\

I don't know what a trap drop remix of an old western swing tune would sound like, but gods, now I want to know.

Yeah, marche was... not sympathetic, on a lot of levels. Lot of folks that bother paying attention to the plot come off wondering if you're actually the bad guy in that one.

FFT and the FFTA line is a pretty different sort of thing thematically/plot wise. Deffo recommend if you liked the FFTA gameplay but wanted something with a different taste to it, though.

... and if you want the OG (heh), Tactics Ogre is on vita, too, I think. The rerelease thing was pretty ace. Same for FFT, really, the PSP releases for both were largely considered improvements over the originals, far as I noticed.

Or not. If you're comfortable and it's not causing problems otherwise, why care? Trust frumple, after the number of misgenderings breaches three digits it becomes easier to just go "eh". No skin off my bones if the person on the other end of the phone can't quite tell what they're talking to, y'know?

... so does anyone happen to know some acapella classical, except it's, like. Angry? Rather manic or something? Say someone's doing khachaturian's sabre dance, but instead of a bawoo for the bawoo parts it's more like death metal screaming and the leadup to it is like jojo atatatat. Basically they're doing classical music acapella but they're also kinda' beating the shit out of someone at the same time?

I was reminded sabre dance exists today and it really struck me something like that would be a pretty neat adaptation.

Dark purple. Now that I check I think it's the pitch black? Fairly sure, that rings a bell.

2063
I honestly don't remember what it was called, just that it was dark purple and makes remarkably good tea that's entirely too caffeinated.

Are you absolutely sure it’s lemonade?

Well tbh I ordered Mello Yello at the Arbys the other day, and either the soda fountain for said mello is very, very FUBAR or they gave me lemonade instead.

Meanwhile the next day the store has yet another mountain dew flavor, a pink lemonade one.  Which sounded disgusting but as I tried all like eight other mountain dew flavors from like the past two years I felt obliged to give this one a shot as well.
Protip, if they still have the purple dew it makes for remarkably good tea.

... anyway, that's also what you do with the lemonade. Boil it and make tea with it.

Quote from: The First Order, chapter 29
This time, Xiaoyu waited for the needle to cool down before she used it to suture the wound. But just as she was about to use it, she had a dilemma. “Xiaosu, should I administer the anesthetic inside or outside the wound?”

They had never used anesthetics before, so Xiaoyu was wondering whether the anesthetic would be more effective if it was administered into the wound.

Ren Xiaosu was taken aback. He had also not thought about it before. “I’m not sure.”

The man beside them listened to their conversation and nearly pissed his pants. “So you’ve never used anesthetics before? Do you even know how to treat wounds in the first place?”

The man had heard before that Ren Xiaosu could treat wounds. Coupled with Ren Xiaosu’s good reputation in town, he immediately thought of coming here to get himself looked at.

However, it didn’t seem like that was the case!

“So where should I administer it, Xiaosu?” Xiaoyu asked.

Ren Xiaosu saw the patient’s expression and gave it some thought. “Why don’t you administer it on his leg instead? Prevent him from running away afterwards.”

The patient was surprised.

The problem with modern philosophy on pronouns is that they have broken the old cultural shorthand - you used to be able to, with 99% accuracy, be able to use a pronoun when first meeting someone new just based on physical appearance.
Like, I don't think that's actually true? The accuracy wouldn't have been much different than it is now, it was just more culturally acceptable to shit on the folks that were being missed, and they were even more worried about pushing on it (due to entirely legitimate fear of being beaten, murdered, etc., that still isn't exactly nonzero) than now. The "cultural shorthand" was "to hell with anyone that doesn't match the standard designations, if they complain take them out behind the shed". It wasn't exactly an improvement, ha.

I never realized it could be seen as delegitimizing someone's gender.
Yeah, can confirm it definitely can be seen that way. Sometimes someone or another will be really invested in one gender or another for whatever reason, and dislike to whatever extent being labeled somethin' else, even something intended to be a catch-all.

I've noticed I've been kinda' drifting away from using non-personal pronouns at all, probably because there's like... not a general use term that doesn't trip over someone, and a lot of the time I just don't have the goddamn energy to pay attention to and remember that kind of thing, especially not on a case by case basis. I try, because you try to do right by folks as a general thing, but gods alive is it something I'm just not built or raised or whatever to keep on top of and I'm always goddamn exhausted dealing with everything else these days.

Nevermind gender issues specifically, it's a pain in the ass to remember to pay attention to outward expression at all -- it's really hard for me to give a shit how I'm presenting to other people, and that translates to how I (don't) expect other folks to present... probably either some sort of non-conforming/non-binary/whatever or somewhat schzoid, from what I can tell.

Manage to an extent for survival reasons but, just... I wish to fuck we all didn't have to manage it all and could just chill with life without it running the risk of hurting or getting hurt by folks, y'know?

If the game's designed around tank controls well, it can be alright, especially if there's thematic reasoning for it (i.e. actual tanks) -- brigador, ferex, doesn't exactly have a lot of really fiddly corridors and tables and shit you need to (fail to) navigate around, at least what's I've played of it. also it's, y'know, top down/isometric 2D, which is a pretty different design schema to begin with

It was generally goddamn miserable getting around in the intial forays into that kind of design. Those old early 3D games were not designed around that sort of control scheme well :V Maybe it got better as the series in question iterated, couldn't say. Haven't played them and probably won't, heh.

2069
They actively made it less scary, for me. Too busy fighting the bloody controls to be jittery about whatever the hell was on the screen :-\

It's, uh. Actually fairly easy to hammer a nail with a scalpel, though. Just make sure you cap off the blade and hit with the other end of it, which is usually flat, larger than a nail head, and pretty sturdy.

Hammer a nail with a noodle might work better, especially since it adds alliteration and that's always an improvement.
