General Discussion / Re: Sheb's European Politics Megathread

Honestly, it was more the "during Napoleonic times" thing more than anything. S'like... look, whoever these people are. It's been a couple hundred years, now. Whatever you were paying them for... I think you're done, alright? You'd be fine stopping. Whoever was involved back then is dead a couple times over, and "unto the second and third generation" type stuff only counts as acceptable action when you're an abrahamic god (which, given that the vatican is apparently involved...). There's no one left to give restitution to. They're all mostly (at best) decomposed. So. Why the blazes are you still doing this?

Eh. Mutts are better, anyway. Hybrid vigor goo!

Don't think of it as extinction. Think of it as improvement.

... y'know, if I ever end up in a situation where I'm designing the paint job for a child's room. I'm going to remember that, RK. Maybe get a good artist in, someone that knows how to do visual illusions with paint. Kick it up a notch, cause some genuine psychological scarring.

Part of the job to not display such, at least. Is usually pretty poor bedside manner, as well as potentially causing panic/etc. in patients. Doesn't mean they don't feel it, though, especially after the fact, so to speak. Reaction of such nature is for after the job is done, not during.

That said, folks in the active side of the medical field do tend to get pretty jaded after a bit, from what I've seen (several family members with either medical training or in related fields; emergency response, etc.). Person can get used to a lot.

Hopefully without a suggestive transformation sequence.
Doughnut gotta' uguu what a doughnut gotta' uguu, FD.

Are those yams?
Probably sweet potatoes, actually, but yams are another likelihood, iirc.

..I found it weird that they were called mini-doughnuts or worse yet, donut holes (..donuts already have a hole). I guess its in the general fact that we don't use the term munchkin as an offensive thing related to dwarfism?
Actually, I don't think it usually is used as such over here, either. I was making a wizard of oz reference :P

As for minidoughnuts, I was actually confusing myself -- they're actually tiny doughnuts (about the same size as doughnut holes, but with a little hole and everything) and they're fairly inexpensive (that's the 2.15 for 2/3rds of a pound quote). What y'all call munchkins actually are called doughnut holes, though. Fairly sure the rational goes, well. You've got a doughnut. Doughnuts have holes (except when they don't, anyway). Doughnut holes are made from the material that used to be where the hole is (note: They're not, but yeah). They're pastries made from the hole of a doughnut, ergo, doughnut holes. If you gattai a doughnut with a hole and a doughnut hole, you'd have a doughnut without a hole.

I think it's a Dunkin Donuts-specific word, Munchkins (tm)
Ah ha. So they're the ones making munchkin mince mini-doughnuts. I'll have to remember that, and avoid them like the cannibalistic plague.

*blinks*

Oh. I think those are called doughnut holes over where. Or just mini-doughnuts. Can get 12 ounces (twenty or thirty of 'em, if my memory's working) for ~2.15 USD, iirc.

Minor happy: after running a kilometer for a dentist appointment, I have procured one (1) chocolate-frosted doughnut and three (3) strawberry munchkins. Yum.
Strawberry... munchkins? I... do. Do south koreans sell members of the lollipop guild out to be consumed by its populous? Why are your people selling strawberry glazed midgets as food, Sky? Why?

That'd probably make more sense to 'em than whatever you do end up feeding them, wouldn't it? Shouldn't the customer get what they deservewant?

Yeah, I realized that m'self a bit later. Too lazy now, but... eh.

Mostly I'm now just curious who/what organization is using that as a talking point. Man versus non-man CO2 emissions are something that's been pretty firmly established as falling in our dubious favor, in terms of overall quantity, apparently.

Folks, I'm not sure. But I think this volcano/car CO2 equivalence is reinforcing my belief inthat man influences climate change.

Sounds easy, but it was set up so that no matter which equation you used, your answer would match a potential choice for the question. It makes sense, but it's also an effective way to freak everyone out.
This. This is one of the better ways to make a multiple choice test that is actually worth a shit. +1 whoever the hell made that test.

Step 0, figuring out what you want to make, can be difficult. In my experience.
I find randomization methods (RNGs, coin flips, etc.) greatly simplify this process. Put everything you can and/or are willing to cook in a Random.org list, hit randomize five times. Cook the top one. Alternately, pull out X (roll a d6!) number of ingredients, cook whatever you can make out of those.

Stuff like that. As others have noted, if whatever you end up on is sufficiently not to your liking to nix it, then you obviously had some sort of (conscious or otherwise) objection. In which case you go to the second option, haha! Different way of looking at it, if you've got nothing to bias you towards one thing or another, anything will do. So pick anything. Spin three times and point. Etc., so forth, so on.

There's clean and easy ways to overcome decision paralysis, basically.
