General Discussion / Re: Saltybet. Always bet 64.

Except all the times it's not :P

DBZ actually has a good half dozen to dozen that are legit without the ridiculous stat stuff, and more that'll probably win despite having basically no AI because, y'know, the beams and health and damage and etc. Waifu and swords both have a lot of chaff, too. Cards is probably the safest bet of those ones, but only if it's the card captor sakura ones -- several of the touhou card ones are weak as hell.

Really, there's some general trends, but... outside of Googoo (and there's even one or two exceptions with those) and AC Burst, there's so many exceptions to the "rules" the rules might as well not exist. S'mostly memorization and more memorization, from what I've seen.

E: If you're trying to make money, anyway. I tend to just bet one or two bucks on whatever most amuses me. It's led to a correct choice rate >50% and something like 8-900 bets, but a bank <$900 :P

It ain't old school until it was primarily played on vinyl, so far as I'm concerned.

No, no. Donald isn't that impressive. I don't think he's a flat out potato (though my memory may be going wonky, and could be wrong), but the duck isn't very strong at all.

Dark Donald is something else entirely :P

And yeah, I think one of the twich waifus won by dent of being literally incapable of losing. Iirc, one of them has this thing where even if they get the crap beat out of them, they get credited the match. Kinda' like how the moon heals to full at the end of the match, making a full KO basically the only way to kill it, except eliminating the whole "can be beat" part.

Today's dream involved an encounter with this thing:

... the dream ended before anything insofar as closure occurred, but... it wasn't going well for everything except the island. It's also capable of floating rather quickly!

Heehee hoho haha. Heuristics are a wonderful thing. Means that one person can track and monitor hundreds to thousands of other individuals with relatively little effort. Among all those other things that act as massive multipliers on how effective surveillance manpower can be.

Seriously, we've got to get used to the fact we're in a world where multiple organizations do have the resources to "stalk" hundreds of thousands to millions of people, especially in whatever said particular organization's primary area of interest is. We have both the technology and the methodology already, both are improving by the day and... that's really all there is to it.

Multiple governments can, could, do. Multiple corporations (hello, google!) can, could, do. It's a solved problem, and efficiency is increasing.

Dark Donald's lost a match or two, yeah. One of the twitch waifus took him at least once, iirc, then I think there was some kind of odd upset a ways back... forget exactly what happened.

Escorts are... there's a limit to them, of course (there are always and only nine), but beyond that I think there's some filters on when they can show up, at least in the early game. It's been long enough I've forgotten exactly what they are, but I think you'll only find them in the first... two dungeons, after the first one you go in to? Among the tier one dungeons (which are what you mentioned). Then they're a bit more free form amongst the higher tier dungeons, though you're incredibly unlikely to have not encountered them all before the dungeon prior to going east. Though I do believe it's possible, if barely so, for one or two to end up getting shifted into eastern dungeons. Just tremendously rare.

Also, you can go back up stairs once you start being teleported to the bottom, if you haven't already noticed. Escorts should still show up if they're slated to, iirc. If not, come back down the down stairs after clearing the level (if you're doing it from bottom up, that is). Think that may trigger 'em if the first go through didn't. Still, if you haven't found all nine before going east, it might be time to backtrack and do a quick jaunt down the dungeons* one more time.

*Though I do believe that only the "main" dungeons (barring sandworm lair and... maybe a couple other ones?) can generate escorts. There's also some racial stuff involved (the elves usually get one of the second level of their starting dungeons, ferex)

But they're not blockbusters.

I humbly disagree :P

Few of the other free GoG ones are classics/excellent, too.

I dropped my Galaxy S4 into water yesterday T_T It didn't turn off, go weird, or any strange stuff, but I took the battery out and put it in a bed of rice anyways. I hope it's ok!
... rice?

... would just letting it be toggled in the options or whatev' really be that difficult?

there are places where people actually have to check what their doctor is prescribing them? i know you're only using it as an example but i personally ran on the assumption that with my short-if-nonexistent list of known allergies available to them and the frivolous lawsuits people love to throw around with even the slightest fuckup they'd pick the best one for you. depending on who/where they are, they might go with most cost effective though.
Big pharma has big pockets, LS. It's not terribly unheard of for doctors to prescribe things that... really don't need to be prescribed. Beyond that, doctors often prescribe the most expensive medicine, even if something else is as or nearly (and definitely sufficient, many times) as effective (being fair, they do this as an attempt to avoid lawsuits, but...). Plus there's just... other stuff. It's a mess, in a general sense. At least in the states. Second, third, etc. opinions are usually a good idea, if you can afford to get them.

Personally? I had to get a second surgery done because the first doctor that did it did something basically monumentally stupid (went ahead and closed the wound instead of leaving it open to heal -- which is what should have been done, and what happened the second round). A second opinion (or a couple) and a little research would have probably cut a good three months or so out of my bed-ridden period, several years back. Was a bit too young at the time, and not the one talking to the doctors (was back in high school, bleh), but... yeah.

As for the lawsuits, well. That tends to be for people that can afford legal fees. That's not very many people, all told, and there's definitely doctors out there that just run the numbers and decide the occasional lawsuit's worth the money on the net.

"Ferality", however, is better.
... though it is somewhat suggestive of Mortal Kombat >_>

Maybe that's a plus? Baug's whuzzits could have animalities!

E: ... and now I'm imagining a God of... Dramatic Timing, maybe? That just kinda' floats about and pauses time occasionally to shout "FINISH HIM" and let the combat's victor do their finishing blow(s).

That honestly sounds like the sort of jackassery a divine would get up to.

Some of the later ones had some fairly hardcore scenes, too. I distinctly remember Raph having a nightmare in one of 'em where his skin and flesh got melted off by something along the lines of acid rain, leaving what was more or less a screaming turtle skeleton behind.

... it was pretty metal.
