High velo's definitely seemed to do full damage, for me... it just tends to put all the little popup texts in the same place :P

As for biome importation, it'll definitely be a valid biome (there's a crimson patch off to the west on forsaken's server I may or may not have been the cause of) but I've no clue if it'll spread.

Welp.
Last mission before the final battle. I think... I think I'm going to win this go at it.

Maybe. Just possibly.

... s'almost enough to make me want to register for th'arcen games forum just to, like, ask if this is intentional >_>

E2: Victory! On normal. With uberturrets of doom and 20+ capacity shadow torpedos. Good times. Nice to see the victory screen, such as it is, is as underwhelming as AI War's :P

Spoiler: =D (click to show/hide)

In other news, nearing 60 sensor range on the turret bot of doom. Between that and a concentrated effort to boost phantom torpedo ammo (up to 16, so far!), I can now open up and taunt the entirety of most areas without really needing to move much. Combined with the ridicuturrets, it's doin' some work :P

E: Broke 100 trap skill. In the 110s, now. Turret range 45, damage >3k, 70 ammo. Roughly 7.5 freaking thousand shield points. Why do these guys need exobots again?

E2: Bloody hell, overdrive missions. The turrets are doing 37.2 thousand damage per shot. Also the railgun I just shoved some parts in to is doing >100k. Over. One. Hundred. Thousand. The toughest thing on the map is my turrets at 7-something k hp ;_;

I'm honestly not sure if you can legitimately call those things' weapons "light" or even "machine gun" at this point. I'm not really sure what you'd call them, considering the outdamage every other weapon I've got access to (at least without a concentrated effort to boost damage, anyway) and outrange almost everything, too (not quite as long range as the railgun or phantom torpedo... yet).

Also haha "too close". Too close is apparently the other side of the freaking map.

I'm okay with that.

Also, to reiterate.

I can spit out 40 of those per mission.

Yeah... I'm still relatively sure the tac shotgun has the best ammo efficiency of the guns. Clockwork has a guaranteed 1:3 and megashark has that 50%, but a tac shotgun puts out six bullets per trigger pull. That's double the clockwork, and roughly equivalent to, what 600% ammo recoup? Pretty sure I'm failing the math there, but it's early and headcold so yeah. Somewhat harder to land all the shots, but eh.

Still not entirely sure which has the best damage/shot of them. It really is a tossup between the sniper and the t.shotgun, though. Easier to get a high damage crit on the former, but if you get full crit on the latter... not sure about actual raw DPS, though. I'd suspect the megashark to outperform the sniper rifle, but m'not sure on where the t.shotty'd stand. I kinda' suspect it outdoes both, though. From what I remember, when I was doing 500+ damage crits with the sniper, the shotgun was doing 150+ crits per bullet, which would have come up to a solid 900+ potential damage per shot. With shots coming out a lot faster, heh. It really is kinda' insane.

Ignoring the non-bullet/non-arrow ranged weapons, of course. Piranha gun's damage per shot is theoretically infinite, I think (though it's actual DPS is kinda' low, really...), and iirc the star cannon outperformed the megashark at one point (maybe not now with the new ammo types, but yeah.).

Ultimately, though, it's mostly just amusement that would lead someone to number crunch or whatever with these things. Any one of the higher tier weapons can pretty much wreck anything in the game, generally.

Well. Gen a new world, crack open its temple, murder its golem until it drops a picksaw, then go back to your original world and dig your way in. Easy peasy.

Hnn... life is beautiful, anyway. Beauty doesn't necessarily coincide with good, or pleasant, or enjoyable (or at least one's own bit of any of those). Or... much of anything, necessarily, beyond beauty.

It is a good thing that beauty can be found in anything, though. Contributes towards understanding/reacting to things around us, which almost always contributes to one's good.

... one of these days I'll actually dive hard into aesthetics. It really is the most fundamental of things. Even before metaphysics or epistemology or logic. Which is part of what makes actually getting into it so bloody daunting. Very little (if any) underlying structure to it, since it is the underlying structure. Makes it a royal pain to actually discuss or analyze. Mumblemumble midnight need sleep, etc.

Not much to contribute to the more meta discussion, so...

... I just want to note that high trap skill (low 30s, currently) sentry turrets are completely and utterly insane. My science bot right now, about... 12? Days into the game, can spit out 45 sentry turrets. Each of them have >1.5k shields, hit from ~17 squares out, and deal >1.1k damage per shot with a 26-27 shot capacity. One of these things could mostly explode my entire bot force in a straight up match. I have over 40. On one of my exos. Seriously. Completely ridiculous. It took three (and then, only because I didn't feel like luring the rest of the map to the first two I put down) to completely wipe an assassination mission. I had spares left over! Numerous spares!

S'kinda' glorious.

Well, it... it's not exactly tedium. It's... kinda' like watching or playing with a falling sand simulator? Or, again, like playing tetris. S'playing with an action-reaction event and seeing what happens. Stuff like that. Honestly not too terribly far, sensation wise, from playing DF. It's a mathematical slinky and the information you're feeding into what you're doing is the stairs. Everyone loves slinkies... right? When you're actually playing with them, the time passes quick and after a bit it starts taking less and less time 'cause you're more comfortable having it skip stair steps or bounce off people's heads or whatever.

At least, so long as you don't come into it thinking it's tedium. Readjust how you look at it, would be my suggestion. It's something to play with, y'know?

As to that pic, well... some of the stuff's been slightly different for me (Drawing was generally just withdrawls for the earlier stuff, and has transitioned into dividends as we're working more on corporate stuff, and owner's capital has largely transitioned over to stockholder's equity.), but really... I, uh. I don't think I ever actually memorized all of those. You only need (if that) to know half of them (maybe less!), really :P So long as you know the normal balance of one of the accounts you're dealing with, the rest tend to fall into place due to obvious reasons, heh. Though there are plenty of little... wuzzat things, acronyms or whatever (like, ferex, one of my current class largely deals with LACERD -- Liabilities, assets, common stock/stockholder's equity, expenses, revenue, dividends, and they alternate normal balances: CDCDCD.). There's a fair amount of those that can help out if you're actually trying to full stop memorize things.

Contra and adjunct accounts make things more fun, too~

E: Also, yanking out a spreadsheet program and using it helps ridiculous loads when it comes to keeping track of things :P

It's a puzzle where all the parts fit together. It's like turn based tetris with numbers and fairly basic math. It's both convoluted and basic, engaging and meditative. Accountancy is the zen of simple fiscal math.

Accountants work because it's actually fairly interesting reading what messages the language of money says, and playing with the grammar and sentence structure.

It's just... it's kinda' neat, y'know? Just enough detail minded to need some attention, just formulaic enough you can mostly turn your brain off regarding the mechanics of it and pay attention to the big picture. It's... somewhat fun. Getting that damned equation to balance can be frustrating and engaging and rewarding when it finally comes into equilibrium and the numbers check out. Good times.

Why do we not have a Salty Bet thread yet?
Probably because there's not really enough to it to constitute a thread, t'be honest. For all its glory and splendiferous awe, it's fairly shallow and there's not terribly much to talk about regarding it. Just enough passing emotion to occasionally coagulate E: crystallize* into an emotion thread post.

*Fixed for salt.

Yeah... it usually caps at only like 3, 3.5k viewers. Keeps a fairly steady thousand or so watchers 'round the clock, near as I've noticed. Think the twitch channel has a few million... somethings. Not sure what since twitch's layout borks right to hell on any computer I have access to, but still. Salty's got a fairly sizable following, all things considered, but not really that large in the grand scheme of things. The suggestion was just google being the invasive data miners they are :P

Well... okay, I guess? I mean, I know why the statues were there :P

You don't need the water at all, was what I was saying. Fairly sure lava won't uproot the statues regardless (I don't recall, but whatev'), and if it's not deep enough it won't torch the gel, either. Just drop a single bucket in there and click the timer on.

Basically, can this still be done? I'd find out myself but I don't have any slime statues.
Dunno, but you can just have that thin bit of lava in front of the statues. That works just fine. There is (or was, anyway) a working one on forsaken's server if you have (/want to ask for) access.

Not sure what you'd want all the water for anyway, honestly...

There may have been extended negotiations involved.

Nah, nah. If what was in the glass in the end was sentient, it wasn't capable of communicating in a way I could comprehend. There was certainly more than just liquid at that point, though :-[
