Hypnotoad will finally get the intragalactic recognition their warty splendor deserves!

Yeah, my grandparents have basically had no response other than some drowsiness to all three shots... they're generally the same when they have flu shots or whatever. Some folks just don't have a major response to vaccine shots.

I'm also a "generally don't take pills" person (mostly because when I was doing it for eyesight induced headaches as a child, it seemed to actually make things worse over the long run), but like. Fuuuuck that when you're shaking like an overloaded beatbox on full blast. Mild fever symptoms are just whatever, but this wasn't mild :V

I am having the most horrific sweet tooth and designing the most unholy abominations in my head. Milkshakes with cake batter mixed in. A "pizza" where the crust is a cookie, the sauce is frosting and the toppings are all my favorite candies. Donut sticks with melted ice cream for dipping/drinking. Queen Anne's Cherries with Fireball whiskey added to the inside.

Basically, if it has sugar (especially chocolate,) I'm in the mood to combine it, no matter how little it makes sense or how childish it is.

The mildly upsetting part is I have no capacity to do any of this right now. :'(
For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure all of those (except maybe the whisky infused cherries?*) are things you can just... buy. Cake batter/cookie dough milkshakes are definitely a thing, cookie pizzas they literally sell at pizza hut, donut sticks with what amounts to milkshakes for dipping is pretty easy to get, etc. You're still making enough sense major fast food chains produce it :P

*e: nope you can apparently buy some kinds off amazon lol

... problems with the union? If this involves strike busting or somethin' I'm going to be intensely disappointed :-\

Yup. It's not the worst shivering/shaking I've experienced -- there was a period medication was making me so unstable on that front it was intermittently dumping me on the floor, and I've at least avoided that -- but it was probably top three or something.

Actually felt genuinely, sustainably cold for the first time in... probably over a decade, I'unno. House wasn't even remotely cold enough to make me shiver like that under normal circumstances, heh. It's backed off a bit on that front, but I am wildly exhausted. Hit the point hours ago you're tired enough it's hard to sleep, blech.

2106
Blech. Reaction this time feels worse; fever symptoms (some of the worst shivers I've had in my life, kept me from sleeping more than like a hour last night), ache, extremities weirdly sensitive. It's not major, but it deffo sucks. Seems to already be clearing up a bit, but still. Pretty rough this time. Not nearly as rough as the actual plague, tho'.

One crit failure away from kaboom isn't particularly comforting, no. Probably pretty decent in some sense or another, but anyone that's spent much time gaming with anything involving probability is likely just looking at that number and wincing at memories of xcom or fire emblem or anything using a d20. It's a distorted impression due to how human memory functions, but my oh my does knowing that do remarkably little for the metaphorical stomach butterflies.

Nah, I meant the OG Nergal, old Mesopotamian god of (among other things) pestilence, war, and the destructive heat of summer (i.e. global warming). Nurgle was named after the critter, but Nergal was an actual worshipped deity from human history, and like... its negative aspects in particular fit the US right wing to such a degree you'd have an easy time claiming some sort of prophecy. They look dead on like some kind of runaway Nergal cult these days :-\

I mean, most issues these days don't really have a moderate position, yeah? Least not the ones folks are staking positions on in american politics. Healthcare was and still does leave millions out in the cold and gives us horrible returns on investment relative to basically every other country of relevant note -- status quo or going backwards on that front isn't even a little middle of the road. Our foreign policy has historically been various shades of atrocity, and "just a little bombing civilians and whatnot, like, on the side!" isn't actually a "moderate" position. Greenlighting police brutality and corruption doesn't really have an in-between position. Our infrastructure has been crumbling for decades and only one side of the political spectrum is even bloody trying to fix that to any meaningful degree. LGBT rights don't exactly have a compromise position for most of its issues, you either treat folks like other citizens/actual human beings or you don't. The list just... keeps going. And going. And going.

People want to call themselves moderate but they don't want to think about what that actually bloody means in our political ecosystem, y'know? The steady radicalization of our right wing since... fuck, reconstruction or some shit, has left basically anything that's not pretty ensconced on one side of our politics decidedly not moderate by any reasonable use of the term. When a chunk of your political spectrum is cosplaying Nergal worshippers, there stops being much of a middle ground :-\

I've definitely found that, for all its other problems (bugger off amazon i don't want to register stop asking), kindles are remarkably sturdy for tablets. I've fiddled with a few others and owned one other sort outright and just... none of them have held together or lasted as long as the kindles, so far. I wouldn't recommend one for someone without enough tech savvy to bypass most of the built in nuisance, but if you can handle doing an end run around amazon's junk they seem to be fairly solid workhorse tablets.

Household is now boosted, yay. Probably a little late, but hey. Hopefully(?*) it'll help.

*Well, actually hopeful would be hoping to just not catch the plague at all, but, y'know. Florida. You got to adjust your expectations, unfortunately.

you can probably drop the "without college" part of that pretty easily, heh

... but, uh. Good luck? Remote work is still sorta' expanding, I think. You might get lucky in the near-ish future? Maybe.

Burn the city down and/or infest it with xenomorphs? Can't be worried about the fate of derphy merchants if there ain't no derphy left!

I don't think it has to be a massive grindfest? I've seen it beat fourth run, I think. Basically no grinding at all. Someone was trying to optimize fewest runs from fresh to finish and, well... did.

I actually thought it was probably just a misaimed post, something for the terrible jokes thread or whatever, but... just in case, heh.

I hear you on the gifts thing, though. I've always been kinda' eh on it, and for the longest longest time I didn't really have the money or much in the way of interpersonal connections to give much, and haven't expected anything in... I'unno, ever or somethin'. Lately-ish I've been starting to dabble a little more. Gave a spice mix (plus recipe, for what little mixing together a couple different kinds of noodle seasoning counts as one) I'm fond of making to the person who taught me my current job, copy of the driving music to younger family, big ol' pile of OCRemix (32 gig flash drive, slam full -- pointedly, it's something with a copyright license usable in public work!) to a co-worker that'd lost a spouse and had to leave for elsewhere, stuff like that.

It's a weird thing to wrap your head around, and reciprocal gifting in general is just... no. Y'know? Gifting with an expectation to get something in return just feels off, same as being given something with the expectation to give something back. If there's strings and expectations and whatnot involved it's just not a gift anymore, yeah? "You don't have to give anything in return" was something emphasized a lot as I was growing up, both ways, and I guess it internalized really strongly. That feels right. You don't give with expectations or strings or when it's a financial/whatever burden, you give because you're able and you want to, and you give freely or you don't give.
