So I got this game months and months ago, but never actually played it. Now that it's been updated I figured I should get into it. What the hell am I meant to be doing? :/
Looting, killing, building, in whatever your preferred order is.

Jesus, the Spectre set is so damn OP. Combined with a mana flower, you will pretty much never die.
You don't really need a mana flower, heh. With full mana and spectre armor, your regen is such that you can keep a magnet sphere and a steady stream of, say, inferno fork shots going pretty much indefinitely. And with those going indefinitely, you're pretty close to unkillable.

Why would one bomb the jungle?
Think it was mostly to see what kind of chlorophyte proliferation going hardmode causes. As per Gir's post, it turns out "not much, initially".

It was also to bomb the jungle, though. That was the whole of part of the reasoning.

Though if you do go into the dungeon... I might recommend going deep rather than staying up top. Ragged casters are quite possible the nastiest thing in there (frankly, in the whole bloody game. Paladins have an incredibly easy trick to them if you can manage to set it up right.) right now, and they stop spawning part way in. You get diabolists instead, who are their own brand of nasty, but it's a lot easier to avoid their attacks and get out of them if you do get hit. Plus no uberdarkness debuff. Plus they (very occasionally) drop inferno forks which are totes one of the best magic weapons in the game :P

I think the Ghost Wings are bugged and just look like the Angel Wings.
They're slightly translucent. Otherwise pretty much the same thing, yeah.

Oh, ha. Yeah, my first go at skeletron prime this update was... kinda' amusing. Was walking the poor guy, but I started better than half way through the night. Get him down to <100 hp and... it turns day. Cue him going dungeon guardian, instagibbing me from full health... and then spinning off towards spawn.

Which had another player loitering around it.

A player wearing turtle armor.

...

And that's the story of how skeletron prime died during the day and I got me the souls of might I was after. UnwittingNoble turtle wearer who's name I've forgotten, your sacrifice will be remembered. For a few more days, at least.

Well, ranged does have nice new toys... tac shotgun hurts like the buggery, and the rocket launcher can do some work. Especially with higher mark rockets, methinks, though I've only messed with the mark 1s so far. Still, shroomite non-rocket hat and it was hitting about as hard as the initial inferno fork shot, if not the lingering bit, which isn't bad at all.

Either of the high velo weapons (magnum, sniper rifle) can be kinda' fun, too. Stick high velocity bullets into 'em and giggle at the hitscan~ Damage is definitely comparatively (to magic, melee, tac shotgun) crap, though. Even 500+ damage crits on stealthed sniper shots is puny compared to the combined damage of a fork fireball (two shot wyverns, yes yes.).

I'm definitely digging all the extra ammo types. They can be fairly interesting. S'all pretty much suboptimal compared to the higher tier magic and melee stuff, but... it's still pretty sexy.

Yeah... it's pretty definitively the go-to ridiculous armor for most things. Especially if you've got multiple people running around with it. It's definitely something when a pair of folks can just sit themselves inside plantera and take basically no damage. The HP goes down, the HP goes up, ayyiyiyi.

There's a few tricks the other armors can pull (tiki and turtle especially, methinks), but spectre's probably the "best" right now, at least for general use.

In other news, the crimson equivalent to crystal storm is just... it's definitely a thing. It's disturbingly effective for what it is, too. Especially if you're tiki-spec'd, since the debuff it inflicts reduces enemy defense.

Apropos to nothing, the way the pygmies surf around on their spears is entirely too adorable.

... especially once you start succeeding and the ladybugs start spawning while you're spreading the biome further >_>

Well... you could swing by a server that's got the steampunker and truffle NPCs, if you've got some cash to burn. 2 plat for the terraformer gun and then... probably another huge chunk of change for mushroom ammo for it and you can convert the surface jungle to mushroom pretty quickly.

Mind you, I did hit up like five pyramids before it showed up, but... yeah. Large world = many, many pyramids. Apparently.
