Other Games / Re: Terraria - 1.2 now out!

Also, I expected the Flaregun to make a better weapon than it is, though I do know that it's more of a torch-shooting gun (and also a torch when held) than anything else. Maybe I'm too used to TF2's Flare Gun being a nasty weapon.
The flaregun's actually really damage efficient for the level of the game where you find it... I've been finding each shot can do a good 20-25 damage (and pierces!), it just takes a good long while for the damage to tick through. Kinda' neat if you're willing to play the (very) long game versus early mobs. Makes a mess of bloody everything, though, in terms of aesthetics.

Mushroom biome previously was no big deal.

Now it spawns minibosses.
No, no... they're not minibosses. I think. Just... normal mobs. That kinda' hit around the level of hard mode mobs, really. Average >200 hp. Barring the shroomzombies, move pretty quickly.

And spawn pre-hard mode. Also those bloody ladybugs are monstrous. One occasionally follows someone back to spawn. Usually claims a few lives before someone puts it down.

The... the mushroom biome on forsaken's server may have been a minor mistake. It's very pretty, though! And there's a couple NPCs stuck in it, now >_>

(Protip: Later tonight it's probably going to get bigger, as more jungle mud gets transplanted. Do think I'll build a overhead transverse, though. Maybe a tunnel under it. Something to make getting through less of a pray-a-ladybug-doesn't-spawn thing.)

General Discussion / Re: Things that made you sad today thread.

Problem with not relying on other people is it's pretty much impossible to get anything meaningful done otherwise. The days of the world changing individual are pretty much dead, and have been for a few decades now. Same for pretty much any scale over a small town, really... if that.

'Course, even the great individuals of yesteryear usually did a great deal of what they did only with the aid and support of other people. Funny how that works...

... which really is kinda' a sad thing because it can be a royal pain the hindquarters to actually do. Whoever noted it as being as hard as herding cats has obviously never actually herded cats, which honestly isn't that difficult. Far less troublesome than getting people moving in the same direction, towards the same goal :-\

Jumping the gun a bit, then. I haven't actually looked in the starmade thread since like the first page or two, heh. Apologizes, FK~

Do not raeg at forum members, either by name or by indirect attacks. Do not post links to other Bay12 drama here. Do not post links to other forums with the intent of stirring up people to post there. None of that is the purpose of this thread. Raeg at "things" all you want, but not the people behind them.
Not. Involving. The. Forum.

... unless that was directed towards some other one, in which case maybe clarify :P

Rules:
No escaped loons.
Sorry Ny. Judging by the rate you're posting you won't be one for long, but generally that sort of rule applies to when the thread's made :-\

... especially when your first post is for the giveaway...

Standard early access for certain press-type people/things, I do believe. Something along those lines.

Oh hey, this guy's stuff. Tiruin, I... I don't know what to say. The spiders don't need spiderweb. They just crawl on backwall. Maybe the background itself, I'unno. Also their abdomen pulsates!

What exactly do you mean by a one-house policy, though? How would it effect something, like... well, my own situation? Family owns some "spare" homes (sometimes they're rented out)*, that from time to time have housed other family members that were down on luck, having trouble, etc. Most of the homes titles are held by a particular couple. If things were limited to one title per person (especially if married couples were counted as a single person, or single households only allowed to have one), well... I know a fair handful of people that would have been in pretty bad shape. Myself and most of my immediate family included.

I can see what the concept is trying to avoid, I think, but even outside of profit-minded stuff there can be very good reasons for a individual to (want to) hold title (that is, legally/socially accepted control over a particular land parcel and its contents) over more than one home.

*And that'd be a question to SG's quote, I guess. What about stuff that's in between? Some folks live in a place part of the year, rent it out the rest (sometimes this is because leisure, sometimes because work-type stuff, sometimes it's family/tradition (religion, etc.) related), or will rent over a period and have non-renters live there over another. Where would stuff that's not strictly one or the other fall?

... yeah. Just... browse through the one/two star stuff on pretty much any flash game aggregate site. Kongregate, newsgrounds, armorgames... whatever. You'll find worse. Low quality flash games are a rabbit hole of excrement that never stops spewing.

... thing learned today I wasn't quite aware of. Being hit in midair (say, landing on a slime) does not reset your fall distance. So, say, you're one square away from water and something knocks you over a bit, onto land? Splat.

Ninja assassin slime's murder power borders on precognitive.

I... don't know? Google says 30-something. I've been as north as upper thirties, as south as upper teens. Noon is up.
