... at least in your home town, that you know of.

Which is kinda' a good case in point, about how that sort of thing tends to be less visible in wealthier nations. Stuff gets less pretty the more you dig, usually.

Ah. See, I was taking you noting Russia's wealth as some kind of indicator that wealth level is somehow indicative of lack of child beggars, and that even higher GDP nations would consequently be lacking them. Which they don't. S'far as I know, no one at all, ever, has managed to totally remove that sort of thing. S'considerably more than just a matter of available resources, et al.

But nah, y'just holding Russia to a standard no one meets, which makes the statement more sensible.

... think you mean "so many". There's underage homeless/beggars/panhandlers in every nation. Including the most wealthy nations. The wealthier ones just seem to be a bit better at keeping it out of the public eye, honestly.

I likely posted about it earlier, but I was at a science museum last week watching a documentary on polar bears, and the entire movie was basically about how polar bear males will eat their babies, and they just followed this mother running through pretty ice sheets as papa bears would chase after her. It was terrible!
... yeah. Extinction rate, environmental degradation, etc., so forth, so on. I'm not so sure there's going to be much in the way of happy nature documentaries, going forward :-\

They could play on a happiness in the face of adversity angle or somethin'. Welcome to the reality of post-apocalyptic nature films, I guess... we don't have rad roaches, yet, but the bears have turned to cannibalism. The future is now.

Why, uh. Why'd you buy it three times? Like. What sequences of events lead to this happening?

Normally I would spite you for that, but my paranoid rage directed at the person who stole my rightful soda continues to distract me.
... so go get some vanilla and regular coke. Mix, fixed.

e: do we have a tera rising thread and why is bay12 not immersed in the beauty that is that game yet godDAYUM
To the former, we don't, and to the latter, probably because it appears to be an mmorpg? B12 threads regarding those generally have a rough time, from what I've seen.

No, no. That particular linguistic confusion needs to stay. It makes the statement "I'm not wearing pants" much more amusing.

... also "trousers" is still used, albeit rarely (at least in my area), in the states. We actually know what those are, yes.

Then comes the realisation that you are talking to cats and are probably going insane.
Eh. Cats're somewhat capable of recognizing tone (particularly) and phrases (somewhat less so, from what I've seen). Yapping at 'em doesn't hurt, and definitely isn't a sign (in and of itself) of insanity. Involving vocal cues is generally a good idea regarding any animal you'll be dealing with on a regular basis.

Most of American industrial capacities are already located in China or elsewhere.
Ehn. States are still one of the top three industrial powers in the world, just with domestic stuff, iirc, despite industry only accounting for like a third of its GDP. Yeah, something close to or past a majority of its industrial capacities are elsewhere, but that still leaves a goddamn ridiculous amount of production oomph inside the borders. S'one of those weird things, like th'fact the states have been operating at a trade deficit for a while now but are still one of the largest export economies in the world.

So... yeah, it's likely pretty possible, ha.

... I don't actually own anything not jean, in way of pants. Nor do I wear much else. Khakis feel a little too flimsy, sweat pants are, well, sweat pants (and this is goddamn Florida, help is not needed), and I don't think I've worn anything else that's leg covering. Nor will I go out in something not leg covering, unless I'm specifically going swimming. No point in making it easy for the damned mosquitoes. Or the varying forms of thorn/rash-cause bearing plants, or the varying sorts of parasites, or etc., so forth, so on. Bloody swamp.

Need to get around to hunting down better material for swamp walking, though. One of these days, one of these days...

That's why you name the species You, instead of I.

... I named one of my cats You. I still kinda' miss that cat :-\

... far less reasons to, though. Not that there's really notable amount of reasons to invade Russia, either.* Canada's already got a free trade agreement with the states. Occupation'd just be more or less a political formality, not so much an economic one. There wouldn't really be a reason to bother.

So... don't worry, Descy. Your joint's already under the stars n'stripes jackboot. It's just, y'know, formal wear instead of an actual jackboot.

Something like that, anyway. I've already been awake long enough my head's going fuzzy.

*There's much less expensive means of control to use, after all.

Spent eight hours screwing everything. Sometimes my job isn't so bad.
FTFY

It really is better with the second sentence.

Would be a pretty boring cookbook. About all I have in the truck are apples, a loaf of bread, and a jar of peanut butter.
You might could work with that. Would just need to figure out a way to cook it. Maybe get some extra seasonings or somethin'.
