Bad dubstep is like entering your PIN number into an ATM machine.
Dubstep is sort of like this; you can use the sound of an engine creatively to make art and music, but listening to the sound of an engine dying is not music.
... depends on the engine and how it's dying. Maybe if you've got several in array kaputting at different frequencies. I'm pretty sure someone out there could manage it.

... also, is that, uh. Legal, FD? I mean... health issues. Banking on suing forty years from now when your lungs have committed spontaneous fiberglass assisted failed mitosis?

Hurricane season on the West Coast? Is the Earth spinning the other way around in California?
Hurricane season's actually longer on the west coast, Sheb. Starts in May, ends for both coasts in November. East coast doesn't kick off 'till June. Going by the national hurricane center, anyway. Hot water is hot water, really...

NOAA is a somehwat less sanguine about it. Tornado watches in NE Iowa, southern Wisconsin and NW Illinois.
I'll admit I only half-heartedly pay attention to the weather outside the south-east, but... isn't that kinda' normal for this time of the year? Probably a bit worse than average cause of the general trend of things re: weather, but...

E:Also, pretty awesome map. And I just noticed you can RSS feeds for local(ish) weather. Neato.

What music does she hate that you happen to like?
Music wars never end well.
I'unno Kaij, I kinda' count any good excuse to break out the noise music as ending well...

Lot more likely to get hit with a noise violation if you pull that out, though. Though neighbors may mistake it for some kind of industrial accident or something instead, that's always a possibility.

Goddamn headache. I'm going to take two advil every fifteen minutes until this goes away. If I stop being able to feel anything else as well, that's a bonus.
I've always kinda' wondered about headache medicine, m'self. Ever since I stopped taking them, the frequency and severity of my headaches have dropped... fairly considerably. As in from weekly t'biweekly/in-need-of-headache-medicine to every few months/sometimes-barely-noticable. It's been pretty drastic :-\

... what kind of information are you looking for? Looks like the standard summer storms are deciding to kick it up a notch, which is something folks have been predicting (fairly accurately, insofar as I'm aware) was going to become a trend for a while now. S'kinda' hurricane season on both coasts right now, and the sort of meteorological phenomena that causes that sort of thing doesn't exactly kindly sit on its arse along the coast. Summer's heavy storm time all throughout the states, usually.

Also I think maybe you mean derecho. Desura seems to be naught but a game distribution platform, heh. E: Caught that. Cooee.

If we instead stick to our generic OTANJSM insults, we can eventually phase out the others, through a sort of herd-immunity-crossed-with-Newspeak thing, because hooray 1984, I guess.
Honestly, if our insulting vocabulary was more comfortably seeded with generic orangutan jism insults, I think the world would be a better place. I'm not sure what Orwell had to do with that sort of thing, though.

If it were...hypothetically, $200k instead of $100k, there are places even in the US where you can buy houses for $80k. Buy a house, lose the car, have hobbies like playing computer games or writing books...yeah, even $200k doesn't seem like enough. But that's more than the vast majority of people have.
For what it's worth, the house I'm living in right now (three bedroom, one bath, alright back yard) is within fairly comfortable walking or definitely comfortable biking distance from one of the world-reknowned beaches in the states. Cost the owner $30k for the house and the lot it's on, plus maybe another four or five thousand in refurbishing and whatnot. Could use a few hundred more in varying touchups, but it's a pretty decent joint. If you're not aiming too high and you find the right seller, it can get relatively cheap.

Wouldn't personally retire here, because Florida is fucking miserable to live in, but if that's the thing you're looking for it can get pretty low. $100k isn't much to retire on at my age, though. It'd be a helluva help, and I'm fairly comfortable in saying I could probably stretch it for a decade or two (providing I end up inheriting at least one of the family's properties, anyway :-\), but not three or four. Now, enough of a nest egg to comfortably live off part time instead of full employment for a long damn time? Yeah, that it would be.

Which, with 100k flat, is probably what I'd do. Go somewhere colder that has seasons, find a comfortable part-time doing something more useful than retail, and do that for the next few dozen years. Honestly, with a slush fund to that degree, working for a relative pittance for something that's actually societally beneficial would be a lot more viable... and I'd rather be doing that than just bumming around. I mean, I like bumming around, and I'm really good at it, but being able to support myself while doing something helpful would be considerably more... life affirming, I suppose? Like with a lot of things, I don't mind working, I just don't want to have to work, ha, and working for most businesses is somewhat, hrn. Call it ethically troubling, yeah.

Ok. So let's expand the scope of the discussion then:

How much money would need? Where would go, and what would you do?
To this, hum. Give me... let's say 9.6k/year (figure 200/mo food [I actually eat about half that, but that's what food stamps pay out so it's a good baseline], triple that for everything else, almost definitely overestimating). No, halve that -- 4.8k/year, room, board, utilities, etc. Almost certainly (still) overstating, but still. I'd probably be able to make it another 50 years without too much trouble, so... 240k. Plus enough to buy a little land and housing... eyeball it at maybe 50-60k on the outside, so 300k total. M'not sure how taxes and whatnot would interact with overall budget, so overestimating a bit is likely a good idea, so say somewhere between that and 350k.

I'd go somewhere colder, away from this bigot-infested hellswamp. Washington's always been tempting (at least the coastal/near city stuff), but I'd shop around, I'm not terribly picky so long as the weather's more sane. Spend said 50 or so years playing, reading, and doing volunteer work for something particularly useful... I'd love to help out with research or whatev', but anything education related would likely be invigorating. I wouldn't have much trouble living the rest of my life like that.

* Frumple says, "I'm in!"

And Vec, I don't think you actually have to have something to trade, just have to offer up steam ID to dark so he can gift it. Somethin' along those lines. With the other ones, all it takes the is key, no friending shenanigans involved.

M'in the prefer key crowd, but either way is fine~

Well... Who do your character go to to sell stuff drunk customers forgotten in his taxi? Maybe he has a history of during work hours doing delivery jobs for one of the crime organisations and knows a guy in it, or some low-level Johnson? Maybe his boss (unless he's a "self employed" taxi driver ;) ) is some a guy with street-level connections?
Self-employed, hahaha! At this point, in any case.

Also nothing was ever left in the taxi, by some miracle. Or nothing of value, anyway. Chim's probably turned a pile of worthless junk into some kind of strange monkey nest.

Point being, there may have been some inefficiencies/glaring weaknesses in Jack's initial setup :P Such as an utter lack of contacts. Jack may dress slick (note: He doesn't actually dress slick. All the formal wear in the world isn't going to make that troll pretty.), but there's a reason dude's Cha score is 1. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what that reason is, but it's there.

Time being I was intendin' t'see about getting smartgun systems into anyone's weapons that don't already have 'em (including the tasers, ahaha!), I think, and I'd like to swap the sound suppressor into the hammerli if no one wants the ingram (or at least if no one else wants it quiet, ha)... though I'm fairly sure Jack doesn't clear the threshold on the latter, hrm.

More than that would probably have to be on request, or depend on what gets looted in the future (assuming Jack lives that long, heh.). What's available on hand and what needs to be done'll determine what Jack's looking to do.

Unrelated to mod swapping, just plain creating a personalized grip for the hammerli and the cane would be nice... would have to invest some karma into a specialization (I'm... guessing just firearms would cover it? Or weapon accessories?) and armorer bump, but that'd be alright. And... what counts as heavier than armored clothing, again? Thinking of adding an armored vest to the "shopping list", so to speak. Especially if it's cumulative with the clothing and possible to sink a little extra nuyen into fluff to have it look like a proper dinner jacket, heh. That and it's possible for Jack to actually get one, anyway.

Lesse... other things I could think of for in-between stuff... Jack does have this little problem where he knows places better than he knows people, hrm. Maybe it's possible to be hunting for (if not actually finding) low key contacts, as a kind of slow burn/long term thing? Problem being I'm personally not entirely sure what would be a good idea to be aiming for in that arena :-\

... I think we'd probably like to know that, too. I'm not entirely sure how we were even managing to get it all back to... wherever we're stashing them... to begin with, ha. Also, any response to this? Aanndd... getting a hold of new kit, et al. What sort of hoops do we need to be jumping through? M'thinking of investing in a fancier (surveillance) drone, hrm, but it might be something Jack has to hold back on due to lack of contacts and whatnot.

And... just to double check... we should keeping up with the chummer file (or equivalent) on our end, right? I have been (well... mostly >_>), but I was wonderin' if you're keeping copies on your end.

... and if the party has no one capable of stealth or lockpicking?

Then he doesn't have the skills or tools to break someone out of jail.
Are you... quite sure? Bribery, sapping, various magical(/technological, depending on setting) shenanigans, contracting local criminal element... the list goes on. Maybe lure something big and nasty into town to rampage down the walls. Etc., so forth, so on. If the group wants to break someone out of jail and they think they can pull it off...

Probably be up for it if I'm home. Not entirely sure when that'll be t'day, though (likely around 2-3 pm GMT -7). I'll kick steam open when I'm available, yeah.
