Heh. Definitely looks like the point about standardization is apt, though.

I've kinda' noticed a number of things towards that direction over the last while, hum. Folks breaking standardization so stuff'll only work through their software, stuff like that. Nasty precedents, bad program design. Happening anyway. Definitely worth a mote of rage.

Weird. http://what in Opera went to, uh. What.com. Navigating to C:\ or whatev' goes to C:\. When I tried to go to http://yarbleyarbleyarbleneeweble/, though, it gave a unable to reach server thingy.

Got any other examples of what buggers up? I wanna' poke Opera more and see how it reacts :P

... sounds to me like it needs a toggle, honestly. Or just better programming to account for power user edge cases. I do kinda' like the behavior, m'self*, but for whatever reason I haven't had any issues with the fancier stuff when using this browser. Mind you, I don't mess with the fancy stuff much either, but still.

*Making a new tab with Opera defaults your cursor to the address bar... it's one or two keypresses less if you can just search from there (as opposed to having to tab over to a search box), which has overall saved me, hrm. Probably quite a lot of time, really. From a UI perspective, I'd call it an improvement. Saves a bit of screen space and a bit of time.

Cooking Skill Reacquired: Bacon!

Though it did come out a bit crispier than I prefer. Nothing burnt, but I like it a bit more limber. Not bad for not having cooked it stovetop for a few years, though.

Now to make little barbeque sandwiches out of it! Breakfast!

Just above the wandmaker there's a dude that can adjust the appearance of your spells. There's usually at least one combination of what's available that isn't a CPU sucking monstrosity.

Though with that combination in particular... at least unless it was fixed, firing off the edge of the map with a digging beam can bring your CPU to a screeching halt. What may have happened is that by upgrading to rock A, the beam got enough dig distance to burrow through obstructions and off the map, causing the slowdown. Avoiding it is... mostly a matter of being careful where you aim, or not using beam at all.

The latter of which isn't actually a bad idea. The beam's kinda' junky outside a couple uses (debuff application, silk thread shenanigans, some enchantment stuff), really. Changes the way damage is applied, but doesn't increase damage or do anything particularly useful beyond that. The change can be useful, but it's usually pretty suboptimal (if pretty, ha).

Expedition? Looks like it's mostly dead... Slash seems to have toned back roguelike stuff over the last year or two. Still doing 7drl stuff, but if there's anything else it's behind the scenes. Further updates are... fairly unlikely, I'd imagine.

I just... I just want to say. Any sheet music that includes the command "Duck" more than likely has my full approval.

Also, the world needs more gong duets. And... to hell with cattle. Release the penguins!

All we've got is right here. S'missing the first 45 minutes or so, but the majority of it and most of the interesting stuff's there At least one of us should probably be using a dedicated IRC client, really. That'd... probably help make sure the logs are complete. If I had a better idea which ones are decent, I'd offer, hum.

No interest in the SMGs for Jack. Jack wouldn't exactly complain about getting the mook money, but the extra over the original mission reward covers that bribe and, well. Narayan probably wants to start working toward getting a new buggy, heh.

What I am kinda' wondering, though, is costs, etc., for getting licenses and whatnot for Jack's varying junk (Pistol, knife, and drone, primarily. Possibly both for Jack and the fake SIN he's got). Things would likely become tremendously simpler if some or all of us could move through the borders without having to worry too much. Some sort of idea what other stuff costs (drones, upgrades, etc. Doesn't Jack needs a simrig to really do riggy-stuff?) would be nice, too.

Well, wondering that and whether everyone had any issues, like, getting back to wherever. Did, uh. Did we swing back by and pick up Narayan?

... n64 has emulators, these days. Frumple does not miss it.

Though that's mostly because I don't really get an urge to play N64 games very often. Ogre Battle's about the only regular one. Well, that and sometimes Mischief Makers. I was so damned close to getting a perfect run on that bloody game, mumblemutter.

Sounds not at all like 'fixing' people. Nope.
Especially considering what "enough drugs" tends to do to people, heh. Fixed definitely isn't the word for how that often ends up.

Going back to the cake metaphor, I stand in front of the bakery and admire the cakes on display :P
... the sort of bakery that has a cover fee?

Though now I'm kinda contemplating that. Do they have all you can eat bakeries? E: Looks like there actually is a few out there. Wonder why that isn't more of a thing. Cost?

Y'know... there was one thing. Only one. When (much) younger, sold off some kind of... luggage thing, I think. Something like that. That belonged to a passed relative and, iirc, was fairly valuable. I didn't know it wasn't to be sold, or what it was, or... anything like that. I was just hawking stuff as directed, and it got sold off for a pittance. That'd probably be the thing.

... mostly because there's not really anything else I can recall I mind missing. I mean, I don't even really mind having sold that thing off (I didn't have any personal connection to it, but some of my relatives did), but I think that's the only object I kinda' wish I could get back. I've never really had much attachment to, well, stuff. Generally, it's... just stuff, y'know?

Now, if it goes beyond stuff, there's definitely a few pets I wouldn't mind having back.

As the aside... doesn't this kind of thing fit better over in forum games or somethin'?

Ha ha. Everything I learned about such things I learned from library books and the internet. No parental talk or guidance, no school related stuff, not even any social cues picked up about the subject. Just... wandering around literature and varying other things online and in text. And, y'know. Fanfiction.

It's... ended up a lot better than a lot of people seem to, honestly. And a hell of a lot better than it could have. Some days I wonder how it happened. I mean, I'm not complaining, s'ended up with a fairly healthy view of things. But you're supposed to end up some kind of freak of nature when left to your own devices like that or... something. That seems to be the implicit message I see a lot, anyway.

At least it's left me with the ability to occasionally terrify people by being able to truthfully say that almost everything I know about love I learned from porn and fanfiction.* That's something.

*The trick is to derive your lessons from the really good stuff!

All the better, Scel. All the better.

Yeessss... give the random assortment of strangers your itinerary on a public forum. This is a good idea *steeples fingers*

Nothing could go wrong, wheeeee.

...

Sad thing is more likely than not nothing would go wrong. It's been somewhat disillusioning, really. I was promised abduction and burglary for open information sharing like that, and yet 75% of my country's youth hasn't been sold to some south american brothel. I mean, plenty probably have been and that's terrible, but there was a fundamental causation mismatch going on back when the internet was younger :-\
