Other Games / Re: Its called "AI War: Fleet Command"

Fortify up the home system a bit, grab a full cap of mk 1 raid starships, go blow up the MK IV's command station. Hit/run (or throw a bomber ball at) the invincibility granting stuff beforehand. Shouldn't have too much trouble making fairly short work of a couple MK IVs, especially before AIP starts ramping up.

Well... on difficulty 7 or lower, anyway. Not sure about above that.

Ogre Battle >_>

Well, the units/battle part of it, anyway.

There's also, like, all the tower defenses in the world ever.

Honestly, barring the TDs there's not nearly enough stuff along these lines. We need more ogre battle-style games ;_;

... it's probably less than 100% recorded fatality rate, actually. There's plenty of folks that go missing but the body's never found, after all. Sure, you can presume death, but...

... until you've got the corpse before you, burnt to ash, mixed with something toxic and spread over a seven hundred and seventy seven square mile area, you don't actually know. For all we know there's a growing population of immortal lost ones wandering the planet in the shadows between shadows.

Vick tree, et al. Was nice. Ran a bit later than I intended to play*, but eh.

Totes throwing in a vote for a high handicap game at some point in the future, though. 300% across the board, including the AI. Probably ultra low cap, but... would be interesting. Eco issues greatly lessen :P Becomes more about what and where you direct your unending stream of doom against the AI's unending stream of greater doom. It's pretty neat~

*You know it's getting past bed time when you start contemplating deep bone massages powered by the screams of tiny abacus monkeys.

Man, I bloody wish.

You never really forget the sight of a flea infestation. When something like 50% of your leg's skin surface is covered in moving black dots, it sticks in your memory.

Buggery things are almost as bad as mosquitoes.

... I'unno, unless Soli's pre-edit had a wildly different tone, that was more informative than anything approaching rude. Not so much lecturing about supposed wrongdoings as informing of consequences (many dead birds) of actions (letting cats you claim stewardship over roam freely during a particular period) and a fairly simple way of mitigating said consequences (keep the little critters from free roaming for a few months).

Now, if you see those consequences as wrongdoing, well...

Other Games / Re: The future of the rogue-game...
« on: May 22, 2013, 05:53:54 am »
Yeah... there kinda' is a whole bucketload of in dev RLs of varying levels of innovation and/or polish (though there's more outside that list). Production has managed a fairly steady upward trend over the years, plus we're seeing penetration of the roguelike concept even more strongly into other genres (Like this, ferex). The future of roguelikes is basically "more, more varied, and better". We will continue to see an increase in raw number of projects, the innovation and experiments being done by those projects (especially specifically in relation to what roguelikes have done before; do not be surprised if you see even more of the RL ethos being applied partially or in full to other genres. The "roguelike-like" will continue to spread, too.), and an increase in the level of polish involved with those projects. Perhaps not all concentrated in a single project, but eh.

The future is bright.

Maaybe? Depends on the when. Barring something coming up, I think I'll be back home around... well, 6-7 PM GMT and have somewhere between nine and ten hours of wiggle room after that. So if it's in that window, I can probably make it.

You better believe there's a tickling market. S'just not entirely legal in all jurisdictions. Not sure what kind of market share it has, though. I mean, the overarching market it's involved in is pretty prolific (ha), but tickling specifically is a bit of a niche product.

you can step over the xbox

the xbox is not a vertical monolith extending beyond the human capability to overcome

admittedly there's usually a wall there but that's what the sledgehammer is for

22196
XBox One, 'cause when you see it, you'll turn one full circle and walk away.
... why is that in here? And are we actually going to be doing that exact same damned line again for this next generation?

At least end it with a mario jump on the piece of junk or something.

So.. Frumple, what would you say YOUR kidneys be worth?
Well, on a personal level I consider them largely priceless (at least while I can still make use of them), hence the possible interest in, ah, "borrowing" our less attached friends kidneys for the purpose of acquiring steampunk paraphernalia. I mean, if they mean so little you're willing to place a price point on them (indicating the willingness to sell), I'd be more than happy to take them off your hands!

Also, ultimuh, you would appear to have removed the wrong person's kidneys. Whoops, huh?

22198
So I'd only need one of Ameablable's kidneys and a minimum of two of Dutchling's kidneys to be able to afford a steampunk outfit.

Let me just... note that down somewhere. Who knows what a fellow can get up to on a rainy day.

Don't really have any advice to offer, but... good luck, AC, keep the spirits up, etc. Definitely a shitty situation. Hopefully you'll catch a break, just... remember you actually have to catch it when it comes flying by, et al.

Well... neat. I couldn't actually get Planetside 2 to run, at all, so... having tried and failed to do so netting a go at seeing what PS1 was like is kinda' awesome. Thanks for the heads up!

I'll definitely be going Vanu if the thing functions on this computer. Purple is best color.
