Uh. Dance... taxes? What? *checks*

Oh. On... clubs. And suchlike. I was thinking, just. Y'know. If you do a little shimmy Uncle Sam's going to molest your pockets for booze money.

Why the blazes did Washington give MS a 1.5 billion tax amnesty, anyway?

E: Looking into it a bit more... what the flying fuck. Why isn't that in the rage thread? Was it in the rage thread? WA gave MS a 100 mill tax break and 1.5 billion tax amnesty, cut education spending by nearly 175 million, raised taxes, and are letting the unemployment benefits for disabled lapse this last(?) year. What the flying monkeyfuck happened over there? Wait... that happened... a year ago? Two? Site ye' linked to GG doesn't seem to give years :-\

Anyone know what happened?

... y'know, there was something about that tirade that suggested "Unnatural fondness of sheep." I think that being missing was what threw folks off, GG.

Frumpy, those spirally ones -are- fluorescent bulbs.
... huh. So they are. Which is... kinda' odd. The small ones seem far less annoying than those huge ceiling ones for some reason or another. I mean... it barely matters anymore 'cause I basically just leave lights off 90-95% of the time, but... hrm.

Have to look into LED lights, then. Got any suggestions for room lighting via LED, MSH?

... I faxed it, yesterday. Note I mentioned commercial service. Ended up swinging by a nearby UPS shop, which was the closest thing offering fax service to me. Ended up a bit more than three bucks for two pages faxed (the request and a copy of the driver's license for signature confirmation) and the transcript request itself printed and a copy of the license made. Which was... a little overpriced compared to what was offered at my last school (Would have been about two fiddy or so total, iirc.), but... yeah. Cheaper than traveling and a hell of a lot faster than snail mail.

Bit more expensive than snail mail (but not by too much... would have had to snapped up envelopes from somewhere, too, and still needed to print the transcript and copy the license), but "that day" instead of "probably sometime next week" was kinda' important in this case. Registration opens next week, ha. Was already admitted for some reason despite not having all the transcripts in, but they couldn't start seeing what credit hours transferred until they all got through. And the sooner that's done, the sooner I'm aware of exactly what I have to take to get what I'm after.

Didn't accept email requests either -- mailed, in person, or faxed was it. Anything else just thrown out. Important part was the signature, so that might have got through, but... bureaucracy being what it is, that's doubtful.

Seriously though, I don't have a printer or scanner and insofar as I'm aware the public places don't have scanners (or fax machines, o'course). It was fax via commercial service or trip, and well. Three bucks and a bit versus twelve-fifteen in gas for the round trip (plus a ~two hour drive vs ~5 minute one). Not really a choice.

... why would I scan it to a PDF, though? Just send a couple .pngs or somethin'. Still have to print out, sign, and scan in, but... eh. PDFs are a pain in the ass.

Does anyone know how to get this to run windowed? DxWnd doesn't like it when I tried, but I may just be using the wrong settings.
Try here, maybe. Isf seems to be this joint.

And what I'm really hoping for is if someone has played Weird Worlds and thinks it's worth purchasing.
That in the OP would have made me a lot less confused than it being worded like it had just gone free :P

Messing with peoples' memories like that, for shame. I joke, I joke. Mostly.

Weird worlds seems like a nice overall upgrade from SAiIS, though.

Wait, wait. Didn't this go freeware a quite a while ago?

*checks* Yeesssss. 2009. No wonder I was feeling confused :-\

Just finding out about it now, eh?

GMT -6. Weekends probably clear. Afternoon/night generally clear regardless, depending on how exhausting the day is and how early I need to wake up :P

Mm... to the eye conversation, from what I can recall sight deterioration due to lowlight conditions takes, like. Reading/writing intensively in candle level illumination over the course of years/decades. Even just a computer screen is pretty well over the threshold for that, and eye strain is more of an issue than illumination, iirc. So just popping up the zoom a couple degrees nips that in the bud.

Yea, fluorescent lights are bad for your eyes.
Incandescent lights are actually best, but they always burn out and use too much energy.
... which one are those spiraly ones, again? I like those, personally. They last for goddamn ever. Used a single bulb constantly through both middle and highschool, I think. Somewhere in that range, it was over five, six years of almost-always-on. Ultimately the bulb died because it got dropped and shattered, not because it burnt out.

And yeah, fluorescents can go blow themselves. One of the reasons they fuck you up is that they're constantly... shifting or something, just below what the threshold to register as light change but enough to bugger with your eyes. You can actually see it pretty clearly when they're damaged or somethin'.  Iirc, the damned things have be experimentally proven to cause headaches and reduce mental functioning (which is kinda' hilarious/enraging considering how prevalent they are in schools :-\) because of what they're doing to your eyes. Hate them with a frothing unholy passion.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

These are all the countries Great Britain have defeated in war and invaded.

Unless you are Lichenstein, Luxembourg, Sweden, Mongolia or any of those white patches on the map, VICTORIA!
Dude, I'unno. Y'all apparently got ganked by Bolivia and Chad. Who the hell gets their arse kicked by a country named Chad? That's like getting booted out of the Bob country or some such nonsense. Minus 100 points, your other conquests are irrelevant. Y'all got beat by Chad. Paraguay too? Weak.

Or Cakecrustacean :I

... yeah, with that overlay my brain's going more "is that a shrimp? That looks like a shrimp. Maybe crawfish? Lobsters come in blue and white, right?". Not registering it as parrot at all. Or bird, really. Unless maybe flamingo...? I think mostly because that doesn't really have the shape that I'm used to for parrots. Beak's too small, not curved/scissory enough.

Honestly, you'd have nothing "over" maybe chaotic neutral. Like it or not, they're all profit driven as their first and foremost goal and in D&D terms that doesn't leave much room for any variation of good, or true neutral. You'd be left with CN, LE, and NE, I think. CE wouldn't work 'cause they wouldn't organize into a business to begin with in that case. For-profit doesn't really leave much room for alignment shenanigans, usually.

Eh. You go easy on the flavor packet. It doesn't actually take the whole pack to get good flavor. Like, it barely takes a third, if that. And even a full one is below the daily 2k cal diet thingy.

Beyond that, lemme hunt up that... thing. Someone made a good post about high salt diet a while back. The tl;dr version was it's actually not that bad for you, and better than a low salt diet in the long run, iirc. And now I can't find the damn thing, argh. Must keep hunting.

E: Must surrender hunting. Tired, in pain, vaguely ill. Try again later. Maybe. Can ignore second part. First part still stands. Yes, ramen's salty, but overall not that bad and you can leave most of it (or all of it -- my grandmother eats the stuff by cooking the noodles, pouring the water out, and then seasoning it with cumin) out without meaningfully impacting the edibility.

Mm. I'd be fine waiting for the current one to finish or whatev'. I've got... three expansions? Nei-something, something spire, zenith something? So fairly flexible on that front, I think. Someone ping the thread a day or so before the next one starts up, maybe?
