General Discussion / Re: Things that made you sad today thread.

Weather is absolutely freakin' GORGEOUS outside. Like, *perfect*.

And I'm stuck inside at a desk.  :'(
Weather going over seventy (E: And it's over 80. Nevermind.) fills me with naught but dread. The helltimes are coming, and there's no longer the blessed sanity of the fifties and sixties between it and me.

Ehn. It's been annoying when I've tried it so far, and it does involve more maintenance/greater mess. The price differential irks, though, yeah.

Mm... definitely even with the pre-shredded stuff, some kinds of cheese (I've never really bothered to track which, but... yeah) will clump together after a while and sometimes solidify a bit, especially if it's being let just sit. Even with a good fridge. It's fairly trivial to mostly prevent or greatly extend the period before it starts doing that just by giving the bag a good shake every day or so, though.

... fridge? Fridge. Bag o'cheese lasts, uh. A while? When chilled.

Bag o'bread lasts longer when cold, too. Generally no need for that, though. Can eat loaf or two before it starts to mold fairly easily. Really have to crack down to eat bag of cheese before same.

In PMs. If at all.

Honestly, though, that's a fairly complicated request in my eyes. Exactly which would fit in that category could vary based on a lot of things... definition of prevision or lewdness being used, cultural mores involved, whether tact (yes, you can be tactfully perverse or lewd. Sometimes it takes things to greater heights, depending on the audience.) or quality should be a factor in the response... the reason that the person is requesting it. There's a lot going on, potentially.

"There are serious fucking wars brewing"

Where exactly?
I must have stated them a number of times now. Please, go look back through the thread.
All the ones you brought up were pretty comfortably refuted, unfortunately. The NK thing is a overall non-issue and the more local stuff are all non-starters. If you want to look to other conflict areas, like the middle east, Africa, or South America, those are all either doing more or less business as usual (ME, Africa) or improving (SA). Invasion just isn't particularly worth it these days, especially of the larger powers, and by and large the chance of any genuinely major military conflict happening any time soon (and by soon, I mean in our lifetime, barring major ecological shifts or somethin.) is pretty darn small. It's just not really how things work anymore.

You can get away with invading Iraq or installing a puppet dictatorship in South America or whatever, or jumping on your neighboring banana republic, but trying to jack something like AUS just isn't going to happen. Too many people with too many guns, up to and including the nation being invaded, stand to lose too much to just sit back and let it happen. Large scale invasions are a non-thing at this point -- the advance of the military machine and the political state of the world has rendered them obsolete and unprofitable. War between and against large powers (and AUS is large enough to count, really.), to the extent that it exists, is fought through proxies and trade nowadays. Not ground wars and direct conflict, where it's pretty much impossible to come out ahead.

Anything big enough to shake things up to the point ground war or direct military conflict with the larger nations becomes an actual possibility is going to destabilize everything, to an extent you'd have plenty of time to prepare and react. The chance of blitzkrieg or something similar happening nowadays is functionally zero.

Just a kind of generic thing to the last spat of discussion... Vec, there's folks out there that straddle the same area in regards to spiritual belief that you do. They're kinda' rare, but... I'm one, I've met a few others -- few of my professors, some fellow students... one or two folks in my general life (amusingly, at least three of them were ordained Christian priests >_>). Folks with an actual thorough-going understanding of faith and an appreciation of both "sides", so to speak, of the argument, even if they lean one way or another. Not to say you shouldn't give what's available a try and see what happens (for good or ill, I guess.), but just a sort of... don't lose hope kind of thing. They're out there, if that's a primary issue.

As a general thing, you might try hunting down some Buddhists or some of the related belief systems. From what I've seen (limited sample size, etc., etc.) they (the "eastern" spiritual beliefs in general) seem to be a bit more open on that front than the abrahamic inspired systems.

... I suddenly wonder if Ms. Paint's going to come out in a red dress. If Eight was powered by the green sun...

Not that I can recall if the red one actually does something. Probably will if it hasn't already. It'll make the story go faster!

Well, it'd be an amusing way of introducing the incredible delicacy that is astral monkey brain back into the market. You'd think the forces beyond the veil would have figured out to stop sending jumped up animals after we ate the last batch, really.

I think the most extreme necro I've seen on this forum was 2 years, on some thread in the Upper Forum.
There was a time or two someone or another was just posting in whatever the oldest threads were. Didn't last very long before Toady nuked it, but... yeah. Not sure if it'd really count since it was troll posting, but. Eh.

Link's Awakening. Was also Oracle of Seasons/Ages, which messed with time a bit, but the whale thing was pretty specifically LA, iirc.

E: It wasn't before LttP, though. Couple years after. Can check this out for a fairly nice timeline/list.

... tempting. Think I'll pop in for a bit, heh. Just as soon as I find that ruddy autoclick script.

E: Played for a bit. Had... three people show up! 'sides me and th'server thingy. Dug a firebreak for the corruption surrounding the spawn on both sides. Don't exactly expect it to last, but... do attempt to, if the server stays up for long. There's exits on both sides. Just leave a five block space between the corrupted/corruptable side and the clean side, and don't leave blocks thorns can grow on on the ground for the corruptable side. Walls/ceiling fine, just not ground.

Milkshake consistency experimentation continues apace. Much closer now! Next time, probably a little more milk. Went too far in one direction, slightly.

... only problem is I have no straw. Ah well. Time to eat the milkshake with a spoon. Or wait for it to melt a bit, I guess...
