General Discussion / Re: AmeriPol thread

Also many people outside US see Biden as a weakling with senile dementia (what the fuck happens to him when speaking sometimes?).
Far as I'm aware, the big thing going on with him and speaking oddities is that the dude just has a stutter. Between that and being old, it does stuff like what you see.

... anyway, actually living with people with dementia these days, my worries over biden actually having it has honestly fucking cratered. He doesn't act like someone dealing with it, basically at all. He's old, but dementia hasn't set in at all, to all appearances.

If you wanted to see what a dementia addled speaking pattern actually looks like in the wild, you'd be better off looking to one of trump's rantings -- the sliding around subjects, repetition, insistence they know something or other off the wall, divorced from reality shit is legitimately dementia 101.

General Discussion / Re: The Dream Thread

Dream brain decided it was time to play capcom vs nintendo, the pvp olympics metroidvania. You had two groups of players, one on a hero track that played the rounds normally for hero points and one on a villain track that tried to also cheat. Part of the game you were racing through a 2d metroidvania pre-game thing, fighting both groups for limited powerups in an area repleat with secrets and spike laden platforming and intermittent fighting game style segments when you encountered alternate track players.

Once players had completed the pre-game area, they'd go to the 3d sports events, where each player would have their own ones to compete in for that round. On top of the events themselves, you'd also have the hero and villain groups competing in the spectator area, as the latter tried to cheat (to either boost an allied villain's performance or sabotage a hero's) and the former tried to stop them. The event I saw before waking up had a golf course in a glacier, with I think toad golfing as everyone else (I was piloting chun-li, wario was somewhere in there, there were others I'm forgetting) was piling into ice tunnels under the golf course in preparation to start fucking hard with either the golfer or the folks trying to do that.

It was overall hella' rad, with high octane platform exploration, regular fighting game brawls, and then mario party style interims with the weird minigame being more the side-game to a proper sports game on top. Looked like something that could legit sell well, like mario party crossed with smash brothers crossed with a metroidvania.

Finally listened to... anything... Hazbin Hotel related (I've been watching Helluva' Boss and its stuff muted), and well. It's fairly nice? Fairly nice. Between it and this, part of me's kinda' jonsing for more, uh. More literal? Devil's music.

... just not metal junk, stuff just makes me sleepy these days.

Only often, yeah. When they're scraggly and chunks are missing and bleeding and whatnot, or... worse... they're not particularly photogenic :-\

Kitties are photogenic when they're not reminding you they're actually sacks of meat instead of balls of adorable murderous floof.

I mean, it definitely sounds like a sign to start sending out employment applications elsewhere?

Forget to mention it, but I learned yesterday that the world's longest audio book has a playtime of about 101 days. Over 2 thousand hours. Recording of a book that's like four foot thick, when printed.

Some kind of religious thingamabob made to honor some holy figure, or something like that. Title is Shree Haricharitramrut Sagar, which apparently translates into "a nectareous ocean of God's pastimes".

I guess that's what they mean by sit and spin.

If sandwich heresy is delicious, it's not really heresy :P

You can make a sandwich out of meat or cheese, no problem. Just have slabs of either where you'd normally have bread, and then whatever your filling is in between. Any sufficiently large vegetable or fruit or non-bread grain will work, there, too.

... exactly how large "sufficient" is depends on how big a sandwich you're making; I've made mini pb&js using apples on the outside instead of bread, ferex. They a'ight.

Has anyone ever opposed sliced bread before?
They definitely did back when it was first introduced, and has since caught more specific shade when it firmly became part of lower income diets. There's folks out there, right now, that will turn their nose up at sliced bread.

... there was also a period in 40s that the US flat out banned sliced bread for a few months, so.

Hypnotoad could manage it. It wouldn't be a particularly verbose speech, but it would be effective!

It could be argued that the europeans in fact did ended a terror regime the aztecs had on a lot of other people on the region (to put down their own fucking regime of course) and introduced advanced technology, while also replacing a religion that outrigth demanded human hearts for another religion that at least not demanded human sacrifices (but was still used to condone the mass killings of A LOT of people, you know, like 99% of religions at some point).
I wish I could remember where I saw it, but some time earlier this year I read something where someone went and, like... checked... to the extent possible with available records, just how murderous the Aztecs/related regions actually were, and then compared them to similar metrics vis a vis europe at the time.

There's no prize for guessing which way the scales tilted :P

Could be... that'd open up, uh. Basically everything? Even a lot of newer games don't break 1 gig hd space. Most emulation that's not PS2+ era fits under that, too... even plenty that is that new, for that matter. It's a wide field to choose from, ha.

Eh... it had a reboot/continuation in 2006. Idle google makes it look like you can find most of the episodes for the original or '06 series online pretty easily, too. It's less lost than a lot of the oldies, heh.
