S'somewhat harder to find work at night. And education and stuff. And a lot of the good nice things that happen in an area (concerts, etc.) tend to happen, well... often at night, but fairly early in it.

You might have decent luck in a large enough area, but by and large the majority of our species is unfortunately diurnal, so there's not much support infrastructure for those otherwise inclined. Good damn luck finding non-higher education at night, though. Probably have to home-school or go online for that.

Seriously, if it were easy to stay functioning and fed on a nocturnal waking pattern I would have said "Screw off" to that goddamn daystar a long time ago :-\

When you have no source of teleportation, there is precisely two things you can do when a vault dreaming horror on ID 8 drops a solipsist maelstrom on top of your head. The first thing is jack. The second thing is shit. You can do precisely jack shit. No more, and no less.

But it's pretty darn funny when it happens when you're about five steps from the stairs and vainly trying to run for them, getting pulled back into the center of the maelstrom after every turn you try fleeing.

Eehhh, this is the Imperium. There's no real telling where each individual squad came from, or how experienced each one is. It's entirely possible one of the unlucky groups of bastards have been through quite a bit of combat and just didn't improve from it from whatever reason, so wildly disparate reactions among the squads (based to a degree on the willingness or unwillingness to RP, perhaps ;)) and hilariously varying professional behavior are fairly explicable.

What I'm saying is that if one of us happen to actually know what they're doing, instead of being as wildly inept as PDF are wont to be, we can handwave that just fine. Which is good, 'cause I don't really have any clue what's going on :P

I don't think the Chinese are a minority in China, Novel.
 O_o;
I... kinda' gather that there are, in fact, chinese groups that are minorities in china. The native chinese are not exactly one monolithic ethnic group (and I do believe that's notably understating things, actually), from what I understand.

Ok i'm lost XD  Could you rephrase that, Novel?  'Cause I didn't understand a word of that.
There's plenty of minority groups that shit on other minority groups, Euld, even when what would benefit the others would benefit them. You see it a lot in the states with LGBT stuff, where minority ethnic groups (usually immigrants) will be quite homophobic, or LGBT folks infighting or whatever. Good example I've personally experienced was with Florida's Amendment 7 a bit back, that had heterosexual couples campaigning for it on anti-homosexual grounds, despite the fact that the amendment hit them harder than it hit the homosexuals.

S'actually a fairly interesting question. Can we start down the path of technoheresy? If we do, how far could we run with it, and how much repercussive hammer would come down on us?

From what I understand of WH40k fluff, unless we had a particularly radical Inquisitor of some sort backing us, trying to fiddle with the Tau kit would probably get us a nice hole in our head from the higher ups in pretty short order. Or possibly our entire regiment/planet glassed if the use spread too far. Which... would probably count as mission failure!

Still, the scenario swapping to Guard on Guard part way through 'cause our dudes couldn't keep their mitts off Tau loot might be pretty amusing :P

Yeah, that was a fairly recent change. More specifically, any and all mind damage you deal out (at least via solip talents, dunno about other sources) won't hurt your thought-forged critters. I think if it's a projectile it can still smack into them (but deal no damage. I don't actually recall if solips have any bolt mind damage, though), but AoE stuff you don't have to worry about.

Don't count chickens before said chickens hatch. S'no telling how much will still be standing after this fight, after all. Someone might have tricksies, and adwarf did insinuate the Tau can win this >_>

I would have been slightly less appalled if there was a simple way to disable that start shell thingy. But in the short period I tried buggering with it before giving up in disgust and just telling my grandparent the multiple-step process of getting to the desktop, I couldn't find one. Tentative web searches suggested that the only way to get rid of it was installing goddamn third party apps. That's just kinda' vile, t'me.

Also blah, windows 8.
... man, I touched a windows 8 computer not too long ago, 'cause my grandparent apparently got a laptop with the OS and needed a little help getting something set up.

My hands felt scuzzy afterwards. Had to go wash 'em. My current opinion of Win 8 is "That is a goddamn abomination."

*hoping to go to sleep at a decent hour*
*house owners come for overnight stay*
*promptly turn on fuckoff huge TV with fuckyoutoosir loud speakers* *
*so much for goddamn sleep*
I wanted to sleep :'(

*Even if I block out the sound, the bass is enough to make me vibrate through the walls. Less than 48 hours of cold, quiet, bliss. Now it's back to >70 and too-loud-to-sleep.**
**Eye on the prize, they're going back to other-house sometime tomorrow morning and probably not coming back before I run out of food. Week and a half, week and a half, week and a half of no fucking TV and AC set at 65F and lower.

The proper way to build Warhammer sets.
That poor table. That poor, poor table. What did that table ever do to that guy to deserve such treatment?

Pretty good if you're still alive, actually. I'd imagine most folks don't survive to reach that number.

There is a terrible, horrible, no good response to that statement, but by the gods, while I will acknowledge it, I'll refrain from outright saying it.

Quick E: Especially considering this isn't one of the emotion threads. How is a relatively non-spammy topic heading in this direction, again? Scriver and novel seem to largely be to blame. And now everyone responding to them.

Suddenly:

Mind sear!

And they all die. But yeah :P Point in thought forged critters early on really helps yeek solipsists, by the way. They don't exactly need it, but a meat shield you can mind sear through makes getting off the island even more of a breeze.

In related yeek news, my yeekzerker has surpassed Amatathon in accuracy and physical power... at level 32. Doesn't hit as hard, obviously (Amat's got that delightful +80% all damage, among other things), but it's pretty darn hilarious anyway. Yeekzerkers are just kinda' beautiful, so far~

No clue what to invest my prodigy in, though. Just kinda' sitting on it, at the moment. Gonna' get some kit together and a few more levels for stats and see what else I can qualify for.

Even if the scheme failed, there's still a lot of cheese. Triple mozzarella, feta, double parmesan/asiago, double provolone. There's also some anchovies and spinach in there.
Do remember you can always add some more cheese when you get a hold of it. It looks like it could use some more, if you've got some in the fridge or whathaveyou.
