So... like, has anyone ran the numbers on the win ratio of the no-leg strat? How often does the team with less legs achieve victory? Is there a breakpoint in which leg number makes a notable difference?

Just had a terrifying idea: The Thong assimilates Kenny from South Park.
That...

... that is indeed a terrifying idea. I'm not even sure what, exactly, the former is, but anything with a name like that assimilating Kenny would probably end up soul scarring.

Yeah, that's where the shoeimp (I think the proper name's Draemor or something) is. Should be somewhere on the map, killing it opens up a portal.

In addon news, I want to happily point out this. Zizzo, of old time T2 yeek fame, has put out quite a number of little tweak addons that can be pretty useful if you find certain aspects of T4 to be somewhat annoying. This latest one, which I linked, completely bypasses the locks on classes and races, opening up the entirety of the game's core content to whoever wants it. Better, it doesn't mess around with the allow_build or whatever, allowing you to run this alongside a more "pristine", if you will, game in which you accumulate unlocks as you please. Considering how much unlocks annoy me, and how annoying it can be to hunt down the allow_build file, sometimes, I figured folks here might like the heads up :D

Also, an education proposal I'm ambivalent about. It's certainly a good idea to make parents more responsible in their kids' education, with sticks as well as carrots if need be, but I also feel like this is the wrong way to do it...
Yeah, actually read that after Sheb chimed in. Frankly, there's nothing to be ambivalent about -- that is an incredibly shitty proposal. Want to know one of the primary contributing factor to low grades are? Parents in a poor financial situation. Want to know how to not fucking ameliorate that factor? Put the parents in a worse financial situation (which, hey, directly puts the kids into a worse situation, too!). That proposal has "I didn't think for two goddamn seconds before opening my idiot mouth" written all over it.

Incentives may be a good thing to have, but sticks of that nature are blatantly counterproductive. There might be room for penalties for poor child performance, but it's going to have to be penalties that don't openly contribute to a known primary cause of said poor performance.

Seriously, good gods alive, someone hit the guy proposing that measure with an idiot bat, like, fifty times in a row. What the hell!

By that logic, I should use Shalore for Dexterity-based characters and Thalore for Willpower-based characters, which to me is kind of ass-backwards since I am used to picking a race based on their stat bonuses and not their racial abilities. You can blame Dungeons and Dragons and that glorious bastard Gary Gygax for that. My apologies, it's just that I tend to be a creature of habit.
Any race can do any class decently well (well, except undead and wilders unless you muck around with the code a bit), but yeah, the racial stats outside of XP penalty and life rating are pretty much irrelevant past level one or two, frankly. Most of the racial stat modifiers are less than what you'd get from a middling ego. They're there, but the difference in the long run is maybe a point or two of foopower or something. Not much.

Thalore actually are one of the go-to willpower class races, though. Shalore make fine anything, really, and of the dex based ones the only one that maybe isn't benefited whole heartedly by their talents is bulwark. 10% passive crit chance boost, timeless, and a nice global buff make everything better, heh. Downside being if you go AM with a shalore you lose out on timeless (and the first tier, I guess), iirc, which... yeah, less than optimal. Doable, but less than optimal.

To be honest with you I don't see that as a reason to make my characters short, hairy manic-depressive alcoholics that for the most part hate arcane magicks and aren't waifu material.
Dwarves are actually kinda' okay (comparatively, anyway) with magic in T4, and in general aren't really much like DF dwarves (outside of the digging too deep part). No opinion on the waifu part, all @s look the same to me :P

I don't mind squishy characters to begin with because I've grown accustomed to playing such a character. Therefore I usually ignore the Life attribute when making a choice of what race to use for my characters.
Yeah, once you get used to playing low health races, it's not that bad. That said, life rating makes pretty noticeable difference. Hundred+ extra HP by the end game can mean you didn't get one-shot, heh.

For the convenience of those who don't have it bookmarked already.  Passive Skill Tree URL
Ah, useful. Came up with this. Basic concept was just to pick up as much +minion life stuff as possible (which turned out to be all of it), then as much bow stuff as possible (which turned out to be most of it). Let the minions tank while the ranger does the damage. Does there happen to be anything painfully obvious I'm missing that someone can eyeball and identify?

Hrn. So far, not too bad, barring the reoccurring memory leaks. Computer can run it, at least, though I wish I could disable a few more things in relation to graphics.

Any idea how poorly optimized an archer/summoner would be? Zombies make things surprisingly painless for the templar I just gave a go, even though magic in general seems hilaribad early on (guessing it takes off later or something?). Meatshields for the critter actually doing damage and is fairly flimsy is... tempting.

Anyway, just kind of fumbling around, enjoying things. Marauder, templar, ranger, so far. Regen-focused tank (so far, anyway), aiming for lightning blaster (though I currently have no idea what the zappy spells beyond spark [which sucks balls, so far] are >_>), and no clue (though loving poison arrow), respectively. Still on the first... act? I guess. Furthest dude's killed the giant crab thing in the cave. I'll meander more tomorrow.

Yeah... it's honestly kind of idyllic, to me. Give me a guaranteed source of food and shelter (internet would be nice, too) without the spectre of homelessness and starvation looming, and I'd spend somewhere between half and a third of my time volunteering, helping around the community. 'Cause I could afford to sink the time into it and wouldn't be distracted by trying to find a way to feed myself.

Totally love to be able to walk up to a research lab or something and just say, "Hey, fuck pay, there anything I can do to help out around here?" too. Stuff like that.

There anywhere out there that's, like, tried it, so far?

Three almost certainly would if you didn't have +air gear. Default's 100, three in a row would cut it by 90 plus whatever you lost from normal suffocation.

It may have changed on some point, but at one point it didn't. I... lemme do some code checking.

E: Yeah, after some quick bugging of the IRC people and accidentally stumbling across the file the code's in, it looks like it can't directly kill via damage (maybe at 1 or <1 HP, but nothing higher than that). It does, however, look like it can suffocate you to death by itself. Effect of sand dropping on you appears to be half your current life in physical damage (so it can be resisted) and 30 air. Presumably if the air catches you below 30 to begin with, it's a kill.

Impressive, True! *thumbs up*

Has to be an incredible feeling, what you felt. Dunno what else to say beyond that, yeah.

Heh. Wyrmics have the best way to deal with sandworm lair.

Activate burrow. Activate lightning speed. Shout "OH YEAH" Or optionally, huzzah. Profit.

Electric tunnel rhino wyrmic goes where electric tunnel wyrmic pleases. Unless the wall's not diggable, I guess.

Also, what is it with Florida? Is there something in the water?
It's the heat. It's the goddamn heat.

And the drugs. 'Cause... look. There's a lot of drugs passing into and through this state, alright? Don't know if it's fluctuated since the last time I checked, but iirc Florida's in like the top five or so states, in terms of estimated illegal drug throughput.

Lot of reasons (Ports, proximity to certain other countries, the fact that the economy in Florida is pretty goddamn shitty even in relation to the rest of the country), but it is what it is.

Well, look on the bright side, such as it is.

The sand itself can't kill you. It can trap you, so you suffocate, and it can hurt you, so a worm mass can murder you, but the damage from the sand falling can't kill. It halves your health every time it lands on you, but, so far as I'm aware, it won't kill even if you're on 1 hp.

Anyway, sandworm lair gets pretty routine after a while. It is recommended that bring along a source of teleportation (runes, psychoport torque), though. Just in case.

Pretty though, innit?

Seems like the plot's just starting to roll. Despite being, uh. Nearly three hundred pages in. S'doing an alright job of setting some things up, though.

Which, being fair, each page is more like a panel in your average webcomic, so. S'coo.
