So, ah. Go blaster necro. Ignore the minions entirely (or pick them up much later in the game) and dakka all over the place. We just had a (higher, but still) minionless necromancer pull out a victory a day or two ago. Looks like a Lich one got through (though with considerably more deaths) since then, too, and the next one down from those two went way heavier into blasting than minions. Seems like it's pretty viable, heh.

Frumple will join!

But, a question. If you're after something <9.99, is it acceptable to pass the rest to the next person?

Of course, glaring weak points are to Imperial design theory what Aquilas are to Imperium design theory...
Sun Crusher doesn't actually have one, I think, at least in the Star Wars 'verse. Thing took a (glancing, to be fair, but still...) hit from a death star super-laser and just kinda' went "Eh." Took some engine damage, but that was about it.

Now, in WH40k land, it actually does have one massive, glaring weak point. The pilot. And... force user or not, there'd be a lot of easily pissed off psykers running around the Sol system.

Let's go back to the whole "cloning the God-Emperor of Mankind" idea for a moment. Take Star Wars cloning tech: I think we've got sufficient evidence to conclude that it functions perfectly insofar as that it creates exact genetic duplicates of the original donor, but the issue is whether it would also function in such a way as to transfer the GEoM's pskyer ability/status as a living god to the clones.
Oh, from what I remember of Star Wars tech, at least some of its cloning techniques are capable of just... full capability cloning, or something very close to it. Palpatine used that junk more than once, and force capability/knowledge apparently transferred/copied just fine. S'been quite a few years since I read the books, though, and it's entirely possible I'm misremembering things.

Also the AT field! EVA's basically a psyker bio-titan.

Which yeah, EVA and WH40k's been done a few times. The Academia Nut mentioned earlier in the thread did a good one (to my tastes, anyway).

@ Frumple: Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a TA commander need access to the raw materials to make all that stuff?
Metal makers. Technically, TA tech could construct an Imperial battlefleet from the output of a single solar panel (and I'm not talking a TA solar panel. I'm talking, like. One of ours.). It'd just... take a while. Materials on hand would (massively) speed things up, but TA can go solar -> metal makers -> fusion -> moho metal makers and basically conjure materials from the aether. They've got energy -> matter and vice versa solved, if somewhat inefficiently. And as for starting, whatever dark magic/hypertechnology powers the commanders is capable of generating small amounts of power and materials just... innately. TA construction technology allows for snowballing like little else. It positive feedback loops.

Quote
Besides, without access to spaceships and a Navigator the commander would never get off-world. Even if he did, the Imperium has massive battlefleets at their disposal.
Spaceships are an issue, yeah. The TA 'verse has spaceflight, but its extent or capability is never detailed or even particularly alluded to, and even with TA construction tech it'd take a while to start building up fleets (whose construction methodology they could just lift from patterned/cloned techpriests, after capturing or building shipyards) and who knows how they'd manage to prevent existent Imperium battlefleets from stopping the buildup. But... yeah. If the TA folks can manage to get past those hurdles, the flat fact remains that they can basically call up an infinite amount of resources and their building capability is limited strictly by the amount of resources they can pump into the construction. Given enough power (and subsequently metal -> materials), they could be spitting out entire multiple-mile spaceships out in... days. Hours.

Yeah, sans EX, things would depend a lot on how far (if) the commander got off the ground. Either core or arm could comfortably capture a techpriest, methinks, and once they've got one they've got as many as they want providing nothing stops 'em. After that, providing there's not some kind of massive disparity between weapon/material tech between the two (and in that case, TA tech would be able to assimilate the Imperium tech in pretty short order, so it'd be a bit of a countdown), it'd be really, really hard to full out stop a TA incursion.

S'like I said, TA construction technology is basically goddamn magic and considering numbers are a non-issue (infinite pattern replication for CORE, on the fly cloning for ARM -- and they can easily use the other side's tech if they feel like it.) I'd say it'd really depend on if the commander hit a breaking point in terms of manufacturing/defense capability.

If it's stopped before then (and really, the commander itself is pretty flimsy, so it's not exactly out of the question), then the Imperium wins. If it isn't, the TA incursion goes Borg on the Imperium and in relatively short order take over the joint (said joint being the Imperium, and ultimately the WH40k galaxy. "But Chaos!" You say. "But God-Emperor of Mankind cloning", ARM says.).

I dunno if the outcome would be quite so one-sided. Remember that forge worlds require massive influxes of new materials to keep the factories running. It would all depend on how well the adeptus mechanicus could defend their warehouses and assembly lines, and if they get a good defensive line up early (remember that the Titans are at least as big as the Commander, and probably equivalently armed), the Commander would be forced to scrounge scraps and may find itself on the wrong foot.
Oh, titans (barring maybe the scouts ones, I guess) are probably much larger than the commanders and almost doubtlessly better armed -- the D-Gun has a hell of a kick to it, but other than that all they've got is a single laser. Commander's big thing is the construction/command capability, and TA tech base would be able to do things with materials on hand that I'm not sure WH40k's tech could even dream of (and remember, given enough time a commander can just direct the construction of a massive metal maker/fusion farm -- they can basically go completely reclaimless if they really feel like it). A forge world would probably be the equivalent to a metal world in TA, and those just get silly.

Core would also have the fun potentially of possibly setting up Krogaths for the go, and, well. Those probably are as large as the titans and similarly armed :P

You'd have to do a lot of futzing around insofar as weapon powers and suchlike goes, though. I don't recall how much in the way of hard(ish) numbers TA had...

Though I'd probably call it ultimately for the Imperium, likely via exterminatus. It'd depend on a lot of factors, really... Commander managing to actually assimilate Imperium tech could cause gods know what. The TA construction capability is basically goddamn magic and them setting up to spew out Imperium warships and Titans (enhanced however with TA tech, of course -- ARM getting a hold of a geneseed, ferex, might cause hilarity) could cause some craziness. There's just... a lot of variables involved, heh.

'Course, if a diplomatic solution of some sort was reached... game over. Any of the WH40k sides getting a hold of TA construction technology would be a game ender for everyone else. Barring maybe the 'nids, who'd probably just eat it. 'Course, ARM cloning getting a hold of 'nid organisms...

SupCom/TA vs WH40k, perhaps. Yes, I know I'm throwing WH into everything, but imagine what would happen if one of those giant Commander mechs found itself on an Imperial Forge World, against the thousands of freshly-built war machines (crewed by Skitarri and techpriests, of course) and the Titan Legions. Who would win?
Honestly, I'd say it'd depend on if the commander managed to capture enough to kick off the Imperial build tree before someone able to get through its cloak showed up. Once a commander gets things rolling, well. See my above edit.

It'd also depend pretty heavily on which side showed up. I'd... actually think Core (self-replicating intelligent machine spirits say what?) would be more likely to manage a diplomatic solution than Arm, at least with the Imperium.

TA/SupCom is the obvious first xover. How to go about it though?
Now that, I couldn't say. Don't know SupCom's fluff, like, at all. Warp gate malfunction is an obvious plot hook from the TA side, though. Could probably land a commander pretty much anywhere (in terms of cross dimensional shenanigans) and then it's off to the races.

E: Though I imagine, conceptually, there'd be something of a similar effect to this little gem. Having what amounts to something startlingly like a sentient von neumann machine show up on the scene can create a delightful amount of disturbance in pretty short order.

Or exploded.
Dat's wot eye said!

Anyway, yeah, I'unno, I think I'd like to see some nice total annihilation Xovers -- though with what, I'm not too sure. TA actually had a kinda' interesting backstory.

You... kinda' have to balance that against the rest of it, if you're going to try to justify the state of USA government to, like... anyone else. The states are kinda' legitimately terrible in a lot of ways. We do a good chunk of nasty shit both to other people and ourselves. Whether the rest of it (whatever you define "rest of it" as) makes up for that or to what degree kinda' varies based on person and heuristic being used to measure.

Which is really, really driving off the metapolitic cliff, methinks.

There's one that's actually decently lengthy... and from what I remember of reading it, decently written. Didn't get around to finishing it, though, and yeah, it's not complete.

I think there's a few on spacebattles that never got ported over to FFN, as well. Probably others, who knows...
