No. My hands might get dirty. They might be sticky. Unacceptable. Even if I've just come home with paint and grease all over.
No, no... in that case, you just use the plate. You don't have to actually touch the food, just the parts of the plate or bowl that doesn't have food on it.

Though, personally, when it comes to food, sticky fingers resulting from delicious sauces is what the tongue is for. No waste! Lick the fingers, lick the plate!

I do refrain when in public, but it's hard. Food is for eating, not leaving remnants on the dishes. Bread or whathaveyou helps bypass that stupid social norm without trouble, but there's not always bread to clean the plate with. Bleh. It hurts us to leave deliciousness behind...

You people are all silly. There's no need for utensils. If it's not finger food, the plate or bowl suffices.

Just... bring a napkin. Maybe a bib.

Well, the likely functional reason is so they only had to make two character animation-set-thingies and then mostly just reskin them for different races.

Beyond that... man, I dunno. It's kind of a camp sci-fi thing that everything female (and some things that aren't) get notable breast development. Maybe they're lampshading. Haven't checked the official forums to see if anyone's bothered asking why the non-mammals and machines have mammaries or if the devs have chimed in on it.

Otherwise I guess the robot's racial backstory involves work in the sex industry. Taking bets now on whether the monkeys or the humans made 'em. Even odds vs. those two it was one of the other species that did it. No takes on why the fish, birds, and plants have tits too.

E: Oh, right! They could be rockets! Everybody knows any reasonable robot that has the facsimile of a female human shape has rocket boobs. I was actually kinda' idly figuring out what'd make sense for the other species, too, a couple days ago. The fishes' should glow, the plants' are probably actually extra mouths, and the birds... I'm not sure about the birds. Maybe that's where the eggs come from.

Some previous threads for your perusal.

Also, search function. It lets 4x through. Strategy's another good keyword. There's a lot of 4x threads on B12.

Personally, I've been playing AI War and Eador: Genesis lately. Very different games, but... interesting. Both have pretty brutal AI once you ramp things up a bit and are fairly polished for what they are.

Though I also have a degree of be/a -musement at the presence of dubiously positioned mammaries. You are not alone, devling.

Good to see where the game's priorities are. Not going to let sanity or reasonable biology get in the way of their goals. I can respect that... I guess.

Decent concept and interesting actions scenes, but the typos are fairly obvious even if you're not looking for them.

Pokémon fanfiction, huh? I guess I shouldn't judge. I've found readable Twilight fanfic on occasion. You heard me.
There's actually more than a couple pretty darn good pokemon fics. Stuff's been around for a while and a lot of people have mucked with it, it was bound to produce something readable eventually. Mind you, there's also more than a lot of utter crap (though probably within the normal signal/noise ratio of literature) and some stuff that's rather impressively depraved, but, well. There's some really rather solid pokemon fics out there. It's a much better conceptual base than sparkling vampires.

Though now I'm reminded of the one that only mentioned the main character's gender precisely twice in the first, like, three hundred thousand words of the fic, and never mentions (so far as I got, I got distracted and went on to read something else before I finished it) the character's name. I actually thought th'person was the opposite gender for better than half the work, 'cause I missed the first mention of it and the second didn't come in until past the halfway mark. It was pretty alright insofar as content was concerned, too.

Other Games / Re: Sony PS4 DRM?

Yeah... they're trying to do with certain ebooks, largely. That's got a hell of a long way to go in terms of sophistication, from what I recall, though, and the existence of physical copies are massive, gaping, holes in the defenses, so to speak (at least until they come up with economical paper that prevents or interferes with scanning, I guess. And even that leaves flat copying by hand.). But even physical books, at least theoretically (if not economically or actually) have DRM-style methods available. Apply the general technical field behind paper currency to a book and bob's yer uncle.

Plus, as large as the FOSS or even just free movements are in gaming, the similar sort of thing in terms of writing is exponentially larger (though perhaps only absolutely, not relatively.), so... there's, like, a greater body of great works in literature for people to turn to if commercial stuff gets too uppity.

Though... it's not untrue that you can have a pretty darn robust gaming experience without resorting to commercial works, especially if you include commercial works that were eventually released publicly. The sticky thread should be monument enough to that, heh.

Yeah, we had a bit of sussing out about fanfiction and non-commerical works (digital or otherwise) earlier in the thread. Long story short, >40k is mostly A-OK. Not so sure about incomplete, but... eh. Considering there's a number of incomplete trilogies and junk commercially published/recognized by literature that would have the earlier portions counted, so long as the general length and cohesiveness is there, I'm not personally filtering stuff beyond word count and single-story-ish-ness.

I've been extremely cautious, so worry not. I've known her for 8.5 years, and the engagement will be long-ish, and I've asked all the questions I can think of (especially the uncomfortable ones).
My two primary notes are A) Congrats! Officially recognized and publicly announced monogamy (Well, presumably...) can be a large step in our culture. Just remember Wittgenstein's ladder ;D

... and B) Maybe talk to a lawyer at some point before the actual marriage, to find out precisely what the legal consequences are, if you haven't already.

It's annoying that there's so much fiscal/legal entanglement involved with the ceremony if you want it acknowledged officially, but it is what it is and going in with eyes wide open is... probably important. I guess. I've known a few people that didn't that ended up bit in the nether regions by it (and not in any particularly pleasing ways).

Cheese in the dough yields promising results. Next time I'll simplify the recipe a bit and alter the flour mix. Soon...
Your mention of cheesy bread dough has intrigued me, for cheese improves all things. What are you attempting?

First one down. Little bit of irregularity because I started in on something that I was already a couple chapters in to (from... weeks ago, I'unno. The tab was open for a while), but I breached 100k words reading the remainder and hit the end of current material so I'm counting it as a notch, heh. No telling how much of what I'll be reading isn't entirely complete, but... yeah. I'm just kinda' counting anything over 100k (well, technically 40k but I rarely go that low, so...) words that's part of a coherent piece. Limiting to fully completed works is... limiting :P And considering I ate through ~120k words in about, uh. Four-five hours. I think I'll be making up any slack, in terms of quantity. Hohoho. Anyway, I'm revising my goal to 52 works and 5.2 million words, just in case one or the other isn't fulfilled by its partner goal.

Kinda' confused what the argument even is, here. There's more than a few romhacks of the various super mario games that strictly changes the character sprite without doing anything else to the game. I'm... not sure what effect that has on anything? Gameplay's still identical, innit?

Got tired of my feet being a little chilly, so.

Now I'm wearing six socks, three on each foot. AND NONE OF THEM MATCH, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

My feet are warm, the air is fairly cool, and I'm quite cheery. Huzzah.

Yeah, noticed those. Off the cuff it didn't seem like that'd be enough to get a three year dropping streak, but maybe the gains aren't terribly large or somethin'. Judging by the BLS site, though, it looks like that latter change may be doing most of it. To wit:
Quote
The majority (83%) of the decline in the correctional population during the year was attributed to the decrease in the probation population (down 81,800 offenders).
for the 2011 period. Though I don't know if the rehab thing is what caused that or if it's something else.

We've still got a flipping ridiculous incarcerated population, of course, but... gains are gains.

Actually, iirc there's no hard limit in GH2 once you get innovation, either. It's just a mostly insurmountable soft limit :P

Could very much be wrong, there, though. It's been a while, but I could have sworn some of my cheat characters just laughed and started playing GH1 in SPAAACE (via their knowledge/m.engineering score being in the hundreds :P). And yeah, m.engineering is somewhat less powerful in GH2, but it's still pretty incredible. It just leans a bit more towards part swapping (switching limbs, moving stuff around to optimize, etc. Slap a set of light wings on a trailblazer, ferex, to get a really dominate early game machine.) than the silly (if delightful) stuff you'd get up to in GH1. You can get some pretty serious gains out of mucking around with stock mecha.

Here's hoping the trend continues.

Any idea what's causing it, though? Linked article didn't seem to suggest much along those lines.
