It's... yeah, unintentional consequences may be an issue, but WBC itself is kinda', well. I don't think anyone has sympathy for those folks. They're bastards that are intentionally exploiting the limits of legality and targeting the emotionally distraught for more or less the sole purpose of being able to throw lawsuits at people. We have and do legally censor similar types of behavior (it's along the conceptual lines of fraud, I'd say). The petitions themselves are obviously not well thought out, yes, but finding some way to prevent the WBC from doing what it does would kinda' be a serious improvement, all around.

And... I don't actually know of any group I've heard of that garners similar disgust to what the WBC garners. They're a particular breed I don't exactly see much elsewhere, and the disgust aimed at them seems to be a bit different from what you get directed at most other "socially unacceptable" behaviors.

"INCORRECT! TO THE ENTRANCE WITH THEE!"

Arglefargle *incoherent cursing*

Dick move, game. Dick move.

... though amusing. Now I just have to figure out if it's less trouble to actually count the damn statues or just run through the place (at most) three more times. After I go do something else for a little bit.

E: Stella... Stella's maids bounce. Welp, there went my absurdity switch, time to go eat breakfast and take another break.

Hey guys, guess what I just downloaded.
What, uh. What it is? It looks touhou-y.

Also, link! Statements like that require a link! If the link doesn't violate forum ToS, anyway.

It's written fine and it tells a story. That's pretty standard, as books go.
I have seen some atrocities of literature that fit that heuristic.

Fanfiction, man, fanfiction. "Written fine" and "tells a story" leaves a lot of wiggle room to violate your soul with a writhing orgy of splintered broomsticks.

Aye. We're good, bad, evil, wonderful, all of the above.

Humanity is varied. That's just about the only generalization you can make about it.
Ehng. Only generalization we can make about individuals. The numbers game involving our species as a whole is a somewhat different story. It's pretty easy to argue that we're inherently self-destructive on a species level scale*, ferex, and there's more stuff along those lines. Humanity actually is evil (and necessarily so, though it may have the capacity to at least mitigate that somewhat.) by the general concept of evil I work off of**, but individual humans generally aren't.

*Which isn't exactly saying much, really -- most species are when they're not held in check by something.
**Acts which reduce the chance of species survival while causing nothing but harm to the self or others. Good is that which increases the chance of species survival while causing no harm. Most things are somewhere in between the extremes of the scale. It's been a pretty effective heuristic, so far.

Because they largely aren't, we just have a better memory when it comes to crappy things. We remember bad times easier than good times.

As for the reason they keep reappearing, well, because it's easier to get folks that have been trained like that to do shit you want them to. So folks wanting to get people to do things not in their best interest keeping utilizing the same methods.

I'm necroing this for the specific purpose of saying that Mothbees can go suck a rotary saw.

Also, got this recently! Steam, flash sale, etc., so forth. Awesome game so far. Mothbees are a pain in the goddamn arse. Least favorite screen so far has had like, three mothbees, a pair of merkids, and a merkid mage. This game has had me vaguely imitating someone with coprolalia. Especially when I don't have a minion to possess (because AI Arche is like 10 billion times better than me :-\).

Merkids, so far, are my second least favorite foe (After mothbees. Fuck mothbees.). They killed poor Sana... so many times :'(

Though... interesting to note, it seems that my original response to this game was also "Mothbees *fistshake*" Neat to see the response held in the full version.

Welp, signup's closed on Eador, so... going ahead and doing the random-thingy.

Spoiler: Random.org sez (click to show/hide)

So there you go. Fairly sure I need an email Sirus, so PM one my way and I should have the game comin' to yeh within a day or so. Probably some time tomorrow, since th'online purchasing method I actually have on me isn't liked by GOG and it'll take a lil'finagling better done during daylight to get it through.

Ehn... Hell's Angels specifically have a bit of a troublesome reputation, though (to put things lightly). I've been fairly specifically warned by bikers to stay away from HAs if possible, iirc.

It kinda' depends on the biker group in question. Some are pretty solid, some... less so. Bikers on average seem to be pretty alright, though.

Hunt down used book stores, find your local thrift shops. When you include shipping, it's really hard for online purchased books to beat local deals.

I've found places that'd give out paperbacks for a quarter, which were just... I had to restrain myself, y'know? Sometimes. Other times I just bought the place out of books I'd read in one go. I've came away from book hunts with twenty, thirty books before... and spent less than twenty bucks in the process. It's wunnerful *teary eyes*

Though yeah, finding something you'd actually be willing to read in the mess those places tend to be can be difficult. But the hunt is half the fun!

I'm a bit short T.T  5'9'', I suspect people choose to intimidate me as a result.

Isn't the average American male 5'8"?
Nope.

Go to sleep, holding out on buying a game in hopes in gets hit with a flash sale or somethin'. First day of keeping an eye on the things.

Wake up, latest flash sale is precisely the game I was holding out for. WTF Steam, did you read my goddamn mind!? I mean, shit. I am not complaining about getting Fortune Summoners for a quarter the normal price, but that is some bloody serendipitous happenings right there.

Midnight winter rain ♥

Current weather conditions, that. S'a bloody shame going outside would probably wake people up, or I'd be out there... probably under the porch, but still. Able to look outside without waking people up, and it's bright enough out there that the rain just makes everything... prettier. Beautiful. For all I hate Florida, the times where it's cold and rainy things are pretty great.

Also, midnight winter rain is totally an awesome title for like, a song or poem or something. Or a heavy metal band, I'unno.

First hour or so of bastion was pretty awesome, too. Definitely three fiddy well spent. So. Decent afternoon/early morning, so far. High point to go to sleep on, anyway ♫

More along the lines that clerics in DFO are more frontline brawlers than healbots and teamcomp seemed (considerably) less important than individual player skill. You might need four bad enough dude(ette)s, but you either didn't need a set team composition or any class could shift itself enough to fit into whatever grouping of skillsets you did need.

More accurately than that, I don't even remember which of the critters in DFO was something even approaching a healbot/support monkey. That kind of stand-offish archtype dunnit really fit in with DFO's aesthetics.

And... yeah. DFO's clerics are one of the best "holy" class implementations I've seen, insofar as style goes. They got hella' moxy. Pick up dat crucifix and beat the shit out of things with it, priest-o man. Or just walk up and deck that giant monster thing bare handed, whatever. Dude gives no cares.

Whatever its faults, DFO's player classes definitely have a pretty solid sense of style and flash lacking in a lot of other games.

E: Speaking of that, why would I be playing this dragon nest thing when I could be playing DFO instead? Both Nexon games with the problems that entails, but what makes this nest thing sexier than DFO?

Bastion for like four bucks and me with some christmas money to burn. I'm... not complaining! I hear good things about that game.

Also some other stuff. Gonna' be able to pick up a few things I've been wanting to actually give some money for. Not much, but... more than before. It's somethin'.
