Whoever decided it was a good idea to market formal wear that's thin enough to require an undershirt to avoid violating public decency laws in fucking Florida needs to be dragged out into the road and shot until their composite parts occupy no less than twelve states.

The pants weren't too bad, though. I know I can stand khakis now. Fairly comfortable, really. Undershirts, though? Next person that tries to get me into a shirt than needs one of those bastards are getting punched unless it's at-minimum three hundred miles north of this hellswamp. Eighty fucking Fahrenheit on the first of goddamn december. I'd say this state could go to hell but apparently it's already there!

vvvv
While. Let him, her, or it die as the rest of us suffer.

Any idea how many is "most," MSH? Googling's actually having some trouble finding, like, a list.

Also, seems like most of the R&J stuff doesn't decriminalize something like what Reelya was talking about, but instead reduce it to a misdemeanor instead of a felony. Apparently underage intercourse is illegal period in some places in th'states, at least if I'm interpreting the stuff I'm running into correctly. S'just not a felony charge.

Be nice if someone a bit more familiar with the legal aspect could chime in, really...

Scythes also don't work that way.
And bat guano doesn't do this. :P
If your pile of bat guano isn't doing that, you're not adding enough high explosives to the pile.

What? No. They're oppressing, in that sense, for offspring. Most of the bullshit provider crap has its formative base in ideology founded back when women were basically property and lineage (and making sure that the bloodline was provided for) still had a great deal of social importance.

It's not untrue that American custody cases are a fair bit messed up, though. A lot of our legal and social systems in place to support unstable family structures (do note: stable family structure doesn't necessarily mean nuclear.) are basically shit. S'just part of the pile. If you were dealing with a decent law (which you're probably not, but that's a state by state, case by case thing), child support payment would be the burden of whoever isn't the primary custodian of the child(ren).

Regardless, at least where I'm at, child support isn't an automatic thing or anything of the sort. The person with custodial rights has to pursue it in court before it's assigned, and there's nothing legal stopping the parents from coming to some sort of out of court arrangement for the support of the offspring.

Most states, yeah. It can depend on other factors, too, though.

Frankly, I've known a few folks hit with statutory charges that were never actually physically involved with their partner. Just got caught on the wrong side of someone willing to abuse the system. Most of the causes I've seen of statutory charges are more along the lines of "the parents didn't like someone" than anything else :-\

S'a pretty fucked up set of laws, really, in general.

That... depends pretty heavily on a lot of things. Area, state, whether the mother presses for it, probably other things. Gods know my own didn't pay shit for most of my life and was never tossed in jail for it. Other things, sure, but not that.

... also could use less biased language. Child support generally isn't enough in and of itself to provide fully for the child, so there's still a lot of provisions coming from the remaining parent.

In other news, a freshly smoked Three Toe rap has been posted.

Yesss... and then I slipped th'previous post history into that gizzogle thing and... it was kinda' great. Gonna' refrain from actually posting the results, since anyone that feels like seeing it can just throw th'url in themselves, but it was good for a laugh or two.

And Random.org says the winner for Arcania: Gothic IV is ...
Woah. Ah, accepted the thingy. Actually downloading the demo right now to make sure I can actually run the thing :P

If gifts are re-transferable, go ahead and send it... if not, give me a mo' to make sure it shouldn't be going to someone else on the list, heh.

And thanks, regardless!

Well, let's put it this way MZ. Your research was probably more methodologically sound than most academic research into the subject before quite recently, in a relative sense. Lot of the oft-cited or predominate theories were... they had issues. Just terrible science, all around. Genuine and well founded statistics on th'subject are a lot more in line with reality nowadays.

Not much of one, because feminism has never been about female supremacy outside of fringe/radical parts of the movement and such isn't implied by the name, but more than currently exists.

Much like Misko's questioning, do you have any examples? I've been trying to think of somebody outside the troll Femitheist Divine but I can't recall anybody who has seriously tried using Feminism to advocate for giving women more advantages than men.
Nah, nothing I can remember. I barely remember any particulars about the movement and would probably have to start digging out notes (which are currently ~300 miles from me) to even recall specific names.

One of my professors while I was getting the BA had worked under one of the... sorta' more recent ones (not a major name, per se, but not an unknown one.), who did some writing on the female orgasm fairly recently (as academia goes), so m'professor was fairly familiar with the movement at large and did some talking about it here and there as th'course in question progressed (Philosophy of science, iirc. Subject came up in relation to methodology, really, as previous -- male dominated -- research into th'female orgasm had... problems. Problems you could -- and she did -- drive trucks through.).

S'came up in other places, too, but... yeah. Not really my field, m'afraid. Know a fair, if cursory, bit about the basics of the movement's history, but not well enough to spout it off without some refresher research.

KILLFRENZYKILLFRENZYKILLFRENZYKILLFRENZYKILLFRENZY

Frakking hate TV. Hate it so much. Hate it with every ounce of my being. One day. One day, every TV on earth will spontaneously transmute in a diseased mush of the blood of unborn children mixed with the ground bones of amputated orphan limbs. When people try to clean it up, it will ignite. I will be to blame for this event. My hate. All of it.

Also, TV announcers, and news anchor people, and everyone with that particularly penetrating TV voice. All of you bastards. Go die in a fire.

...? Academic feminism and the majority of the movement in general has been about gender equality since... pretty much the get-go, and especially second-wave, iirc. What scriver's mentioned is pretty much exactly what's been going on.

The name is somewhat deceptive, really. The primary reason the role of women originally got a heavier emphasis (and thus th'name itself, to a degree.) was, as I understand it, due simply because that's where the majority of the disparity was at the time. As the movement matured it expanded into the realm of male gender roles (gender in general, really.) as well, and has long had a stated goal by th'majority of its adherents, especially the larger names in the movement, of trying to obtain either gender equality or the abolishment of gender roles in general as a thing.

If for some strange reason "whitepowerism" was originally started by disenfranchised Caucasians seeking equality and had since expanded into a movement that sought the abolishment of racial bias in general, then there'd be some sort of parallel there. Not much of one, because feminism has never been about female supremacy outside of fringe/radical parts of the movement and such isn't implied by the name, but more than currently exists.

Perhaps you forgot your Sarcasm Font, Hiiri?
