FTL'll run smaller. I think the other computer in this house runs at 1280x720 or summat. One thing with FTL, though, is if you've got the general system font enlarged (Adjust font size (DPI) on vista, in th'personalize menu) it'll fuck everything up hard. The minimum resolution for th'game is, in fact, 1280x720, but you can't even see the menu options if the DPI's enlarged.

Push come to shove, maybe try the Aurora thread and get that screen resizing thingamajigger? Might be able to work something out with that. I think it's actually in Flying Dice's sig, I'unno. S'around here somewhere. E: Ah, it is. Last page Hans, on default post/page. Resize Enable. Might help.

... anyone know how much damage the BFT proc actually adds to the shrooms? I vaguely remember it being something like either a percent and a half or half a percent (depending on how BFT reacts to the DoT aspect) of max HP per duration tick, plus another two or so seconds (so ~3% or ~1.5%) after the shroom wears off. Six seconds total, I think, maybe seven... which comes out to <10% health. (Note: Mundo's cleavers hit for better than twice that, at 5/5, and higher at 1/5.) Which... yeah, it makes a difference, but I'm not sure if it's a particularly massive one. The shroom's ticks resetting the BFT proc does slightly more than double duration of a single proc... which is halved in damage due to it being proc'd off a DoT, bringing the BFT proc's damage back up to... what you get off of Teemo's Q :-\ A little more, maybe.

AP Teemo shrooms just flat out hurt is the big thing, imo, and they're much nastier on a small, constrained map than they are on something like SR. Plus Teemo's just a pretty decent hero, all around, and particularly so on TT.

What I'd call more likely than BFT being terribly out of line is that everyone's seeing an AP item that synergizes well with Teemo and playing the guy a lot more, and so his natural capability on a small, wardless, map is coming out in full force. People seem to forget that Teemo's always been a bit of a menace :P At least since I've started playing League, anyway.

I think there's a technicality on that in that you're supposed to only own a ROM imaged from your media.  However it's probably impossible to tell for 99% of things if it came from a particular disc or not, unless there were unique IDs built into the image.
Precisely that. Copyright infringement is illicit copying more than anything else, and copying anything but data you specifically have bought (and then IFF it's for personal use, generally limited to backups) generally is just that. Technically, a rom acquired through any means but creating it from your personally bought and owned media is illegal.

Things get tricker when you consider the hardware needed to make roms off a lot of non-PC stuff (handhelds, older consoles, etc.) is itself illegal to sell or purchase. Technically, there, you're supposed to actually construct the stuff from the ground up by hand if you're trying to be completely in the clear.

Obviously some of the stuff there is pretty much entirely bullshit -- especially the sell/purchase thing on the hardware, which is illegal almost entirely due to lobbyists et al leaning on lawmakers -- but it is what it is insofar as the legality of it is concerned. And it may vary by country a bit, o'course.

Mostly ninja'd!

... probably won't have anything to do with cloning tech :-\

We mostly just don't have much use for it anymore. I mean, maybe later or somethin' but apparently some degree of cellular regeneration or whatev' is easier to figure out than body clones and brain transplants, so... yeah.

But Washington never sleeps, though it is often comatose, and here we are, Shinji Ikari-like, to have a mental circlejerk over the body politic.

Or Bigfoot as a pokemon.
Bigfoot was a pokemon, was a good friend of mine...?

Marvel and DC in the Warhammer 40k universe. Winner?
Chaos, in the end.

Other than that, not much to say. There's a lot of freaky crap in the marvel universe, especially out in space, so I couldn't really say who'd win in an outright slugfest. I'd lean toward marvel on the ground-pound front (40k's got a higher average, so to speak, but some of Marvel's crap is just flat-out gamebreaking, iirc), no clue on outer space (but leaning 40k by the numbers). But. Marvel's basically got jack all that can stand up to Chaos corruption, and eventually everything they've got would be Chaos controlled. Likely th'marvel folks would destabilize the Imperium, and then it'd be a debauched orgy between Ork, Necron, Tau, and Chaos to see who manages to kill/convert enough of the population to render whatever Marvel pulls out of its ass without th'sort of support needed to keep from starving. Who knows what the hell would happen if the 'Nids got ahold of some X-gene crap or whatev'.

Alternately, the Orks would eventually win. S'not really any way short of exterminatus to get rid of the damn things, after all.

Beta43's out! This is the last content update until V1's released, so it's polish, balance, and bugfixing for a while to come. I haven't been playing the SVN, so it's going to be interesting to see what's changed -- there's been a good chunk of stuff happening, from what I've heard from the dev folks.

Checking the user manual, really, would be your best option. Can probably find th'thing on acer's site, somewhere. Seems to be it. Maybe try struggling through Acer's customer support, or checking with a local tech shop or somethin'. Looking at the manual, it seems to have four two-gig DDR3 DIMM slots. The video card's integrated, so you're SOL there. I feel your pain. Looks like it might have a PCI slot for a graphics card, though...

E: Wait, wait, scratch most of that. Wrong user manual, I think.

That said, looking at the thing it doesn't look like something that's, well... terribly upgradable. Even if you can get a new cpu in there, you'd be looking at possible heating and power issues, I'd imagine. If you're looking to incrementally improve as you go along, you seriously, seriously need to get an actual desktop.

Otherwise, well! Welcome to the world of low-end gaming. May I suggest roguelikes?

As an aside, mein gott but acer's website is a steaming pile of shit. Pretty does not excuse poor functioning, damnit.

Why has no one mentioned Warlock: Master of the Arcane yet? That game is awesome and fits the bill.
S'alright. Wouldn't go so far as awesome, but it's pretty decent. Thing is, it's not free :P

OP was askin' if there were any free fantasy 4x stuff, specifically.

But I usually assumed that crackers waited until a game finished it's huge selling curve to release the crack. I've never seen a cracked game released on release date.
General term is "Zero day" releases or games, or somethin' like that. Stuff released on or before the release date. It's... fairly common, really. Never indulged myself with 'em, but I've seen quite a few in passing (There was a point I had a couple release sites RSS'd just so I could see what was coming out... cracking groups seemed more on top of releases than actual gaming new sites, a good chunk of the time.). Vaguely remember it being surprisingly ubiquitous with handheld (GBA, DS, etc.) roms, for some reason.

Battle of Wesnoth, maybe? It's a bit more limited in scope than most 4x games, but it's got the medieval fantasy thing going on.

Full out free fantasy 4x games, though... I can't recall any, t'be honest. This thread, from another forum that google pulled up, seems to have some suggestions. S'more sci-fi than fantasy, though.

Hey, neat. Just chiming in to say looking forward to more. I've heard FE's better off than its preceding game, but still kinda' iffy in an objective sense. Be good to get a better idea of what it's like before I decide upon acquisition or not :P

Re: Drinking gasoline:
Quote
Ingestion

Gasoline is not as readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract as from the respiratory tract. In adults, about 20 to 50 g can cause severe intoxication and 350 g (12 oz.) can result in death for a 70 kg individual. As little as 10 to 15 g (less than one-half ounce) may be fatal in children. Symptoms of intoxication by ingestion of gasoline can range from vomiting, vertigo, drowsiness and confusion to loss of consciousness, convulsions, hemorrhaging of the lungs and internal organs, and death due to circulatory failure. Ingestion can cause irritation to the gastrointestinal mucosa and can be complicated by pulmonary aspiration, resulting in chemical pneumonitis.

So yeah, there you go.

As for the head thing, I'd imagine it'd depend on the head and the water. S'obviously more likely to happen in sea water and if, say, the brain's been removed or somethin'. A skull alone'd sink easy, but if the skin covering was still there and the inner bits removed... maybe. Might have to stop up the holes. Point being it's easy for water to get inside a normal, untreated, head, especially one that's been decapitated, and so it'd sink pretty quickly as water filled the thing. A water-tight head that's had its insides... exhumed, so to speak... would likely float, at least in sea water. Not sure about fresh water, though.

I believe you mean "Not enough." If I was doing it right, I would have woke up from a dream and actually been back at the desktop ;)

Maybe before I die they'll have biometric detecting computers that notice when you're waking up and turn themselves on. Maybe fix a cuppa' tea or somethin' for yeh, too. Robot butllleeeerrrr.
