Electricity we can mooch from the sun or wind or tide. Or a few other things. Point of it is the ability to turn a more renewable resource (Air + green energy) into a more versatile one (petrol), one that's already accepted by important chunks of the current infrastructure that doesn't accept the renewable stuff.

No telling if it'll actually "fix" the energy crisis, but it didn't claim to. It's just another potential tool in the fight. Assuming they can manage to scale it up and get it working on a larger scale without major downsides. It's promising stuff, though. And... yeah. It won't fix global warming, but it looks like a possible way to edge human contribution to it closer to zero-sum. Which is good!

Also magic! Or would have been a couple hundred years ago. We are the wizards! Ahaha!

For my next magic trick, I am going to conjure gasoline out of thin air.

Huh.

So, uh. I'm guessing... the next trick? Lead into gold?

I can't help but wonder if the alchemists of yesteryear are spinning in their graves or cheering. It seems science has made us into flipping wizards. Again. What magic tricks are the magi of today lacking, anyway? We still need to crack teleportation, I guess, but what's left besides that?

Teen pregnancy in the states, from everything I've seen, has a lot more to do with poor education (either on the parent's/extended family's or school's part, whatever) and social stigma than anything to do with overexposure. Condoms are freely available in some places, yes, but if there's a huge stigma about obtaining them as well as misconceptions on how they work, then problems are going to arise. Folks aren't going to get them or are going to misuse them and, welp!

If there's an issue regarding overexposure it's more due to the massive hypocrisy involved in spattering sexually charged material all over the place and then saying the subject's taboo and isn't be something one should be educated about.

I'd be fine with leaving the particulars about it in the hands of family and friends, though, if it hadn't been repeatedly proven that far too many of those have no bloody idea what they're talking about when it comes to the actual particulars involving sexual activity. We've actually got well researched medical science about this stuff nowadays! We should be disseminating that body of knowledge, y'know? Until it spreads out better, well, if mandatory sex ed is evil then it's a necessary one, if we're going to see any improvement.

Laugh, fell and terrible. Or however that goes.

Without specifics, that doesn't sound too bad. Would depend on the format of the online test and the standards on the essays, heh.

Also good! Remixes and arrangements can be absolutely wonderful things.

It's usually better when there's a bit more attention given than just splicing 'em on to the end of each other, though.

Or... yeah, if just using all of those elements in the same song? By the gods, if they can manage it, I will listen. That sounds epic, honestly. It doesn't even have to be long if they want to combine and enhance.

E: In happy news, playing Helherron with hacked up characters is starting to get hilarious. It's great when three or four rounds into the fight your team (that started outnumbered like three to one) now has the number advantage, and not just because you've been killing three or four critters a round. Two undead and three small animals out per round, go shammy pair go ♫

Orcs look so titillatingly despondent surrounded by newts and skeleton wolves. And on fire and bleeding and confused and being violated by a massive stone fist, heeheehee

I guess the bard and mage are there, too. Well, they're usually busy setting everything on fire (4-14 damage per round for anything standing in the square, as well as for whatever walks through it!) but whateveerrr. And the front line. Eight man (equivalent) party is nice ♪

E2: The best part is there's still plenty in the game that can flat out party wipe me :D

Heh. I'm still working my way through the couple thousand OCRemix songs... for the second time. When I finish this time, I think I'll be emailing myself the playlist or somethin'. The variety pleases Frumple, but weeding out the stuff not to taste takes... a while.

I can't actually stand listening to the same style of music for extended periods anymore, usually. If I haven't gone through five wildly different genres in the last seven songs, it feels off. I need my accordion/banjo into death metal into classical into a cappella into hard techno opera. Those are good times.

It's difficult to not come to the conclusion that smart kids don't have sex in Grade 7 and what the fuck aaah. Please don't do this.
If this is the conclusion that "Smart People School" is leading you to come to, and your previous bit was how to reached it, then that school's failing you horribly on basic logic and proper experimental methodology. You need to kick your science teacher(s) in the shin and yell at your principle to bring in either a logician or a rhetorician. You don't have a sufficient sample size and your method of observation is hilariously poor, plus you're relying on personal observation (haphazardly gathered anecdotes, m'fellow.) instead of actual experimentation and data gathering or, y'know, research. That's just the start :-\

Anyway. There's cultural bias against it in the states, at least, but sexual activity (if not necessarily full blown intercourse) is quite common at "young" ages, generally not long after puberty (which can vary between individual, but 8-9 isn't terribly uncommon, and the early teens is basically regular.). It's physiologically and, to a large extent, historically normal. It's only fairly recently that there's been a fairly strong negative light placed on such things, and the cultural bias is about the only thing making it even approaching psychologically abnormal, or even unwise. On the personal level, said cultural bias can go bugger itself with a cactus -- I've seen it thoroughly fuck up about a half dozen people so far, and that's only what I've personally noticed in my own fairly small sample size. Understanding goes a hell of a lot further than backlash.

And yeah, on the personal anecdote level, I've known quite a few 12 year olds (and folks in and around that age) that are and were capable of understanding the potential risks and suchlike of sexual activity to the extent I'd consider them capable of giving informed consent; it'd be considerably more common if American culture in general had a sex ed component worth a shit. Which it largely doesn't. The only reason I'd advise against it unambiguously is in regard to potential legal issues, and among peers that's usually less of a problem. Modern medical practice in regards to sexual activity largely deals with the rest of potential issues. Providing access to such is available, which is a different discussion :-\

Heh. I actually find it kinda' amusing the frequency that people mix up my gender over the phone. Common enough to be noticeable, it is.

The neat part is that the person calling tends to go with their opposite; men will think I'm female, women will think I'm male. For whatever reason, it cheers me up a little when it happens.

Dude. You got might have a boss that cares.

Cherish this momentCheer wildly if you haven't lost half your fellow employees by the end of next week.
I can help your cognitive dissonance. The CEO is obviously just trying to make things more efficient so he/she can fire part of the workforce.

Now you can stop being confused! You may maintain your fear state.

Of course, if your workforce stays the same or, by some ungodly miracle expands, without pay getting slashed, then, man. I dunno. You've got Dagon or something as an employer, if that happens. It's not human, whatever it is. Enjoy your temporary antediluvian domination. It's better than monkey suppression. Tentacles, if nothing else.

Pretty much, yeah. Incidentally... this was a hell of a line
Quote from: emphasis added
When Gray took the matter to court, the judge ruled that "a prisoner has no constitutionally guaranteed immunity from being falsely or wrongfully accused of conduct which may result in the deprivation of a protected liberty interest." In other words, it is not illegal for prison authorities to lie in order to lock somebody away in solitary.

Once again, America's justice system displays just how fucked up it is. Not sure what else can be said about it :-\

Looks too pretty for me to play.

That said, more giant robots is always a good thing. Hope it makes it.

How the fribblefrack does that thing stay upright? Looks like she's wearing murder-heels from hell. I... I guess, like. The hair? On spiders? Invisible, I suppose. But, leg hair. Everywhere?

Man, I dunno. I've got like ten bucks of spendable money to my name. I'd pay that much to see those two do a musical number together. You know that pair could get a mad rage-on burning for each other and channel that into awesome broadway level shenanigans. Or at least fake it well enough no one could tell the difference.

It might go a long way into breaking down the partisan loggerheads, too.

...

Of course, now I can't get the thought out of my head that whichever of them wins... just after the inauguration, they're going to divorce their spouses and spontaneously elope. Right after the acceptance speech. Like, right on camera and everything. I can see it, in my mind. The declaration of living a lie. The embrace. The tearful explication, of how the stress and constant pressure from their parties led them to find solace... in each other's arms. It'd be like romeo and juliet in the new millennium. With the original message that love makes you batshit insane and everything. I'unno. Three AM. Sleepy, I think.

I can't help but wonder, somewhere in my head. Would that scenario cause an impeachment hearing? On what grounds?

Earbuds hurt. They hurt a lot.
Not once you get used to them! Which may take a while, and a certain modicum of pain, yes.

Unless you've got the kind of ears they just don't agree with. Then, maybe. That's what the uber-cheapo non-earbud headphones are for, though! Those are only an issue if you're listening to something you, ah. Don't want others to hear. Then you might need something higher quality.

Though nowadays I'd probably stick 'em under my gunrange sound muffler whatsits. Do that with earbuds occasionally, basically jury-rigging sound-canceling headphones. It's actually kinda' nice.

Or you can just say buggerit and stick to cheap, short lived, earbuds. Or headphones, I guess. "Two dolla heary heary," says the skanky ear plugger on the corner.

Costs less on the net, generally. Tend to last me anywhere from six months to a year. Compare to more expensive headsets, and they've got to last like half a decade to match cost efficiency. I've... never had one manage that. Soo...
