And of course, the plot of Roadside Picnic (and by extension, the STALKER series) is exactly that. Aliens dump a bunch of gadgets on Earth and leave. We proceed to try and figure how to use and/or reverse-engineer them and mostly die in horrific ways.
Well, yes. There's always that off chance the xenotech is powered by Azathoth or somethin'. Tings go down in dat scenario :P

I've read a good chunk of nice fanfiction playing off the very concept. Fun stuff~ Though even with that, we do tend towards figuring out stuff faster. Just... somewhat less safe.

It'd be a neat trick. Maybe last day of presidency or somethin'? Just for the lulz?

Not sure if I'm missing something. Other than short-term (unless the room is very cold?) I'm not sure what's so bad, conceptually, about bacon curtains. They've got a dress. Why not go full furnishing? It's bacon. Cooked, preferably.

Maybe just get some bacon scented candles. I'd be really surprised if they don't make them, somewhere.

Journey of a thousand miles and all that, etc.
Starts best when you jack some poor fool's car.

You hear that, aliens? Hurry up and park something groundbreaking somewhere we can reach it. You don't have to leave the keys in, but it'd be nice.

E: P.S. You can have the chassis mostly back when we're done. But we're keeping the rims. And the engine. And everything but the walls. We're only keeping some of the walls. Material science, y'know.

For 200 USD it better be pretty damn comfortable :P

Seriously though, the comfort of it is probably dependent on the mattress. Which, being dorm room beds the thing attaches to... yeah. Probably not that comfortable. Bring padding.

It's honestly not much more than a jumped up privacy screen that attachs to a bed. Could do the same thing with like, three, maybe four sticks, some duct tape (well, probably zip ties considering general dorm policies), and a few towels or somethin'. Cost like, I'unno, ten bucks? Something like that. Maybe less.

Oh god I... I think I need help.

I have a change of majors form in front of me and I'm about to check "Religious Studies"
Hey, the actual studying is interesting as hell if you're getting a solid grounding in it. Just... don't expect to get hired because of it. Ever. Maybe in academia itself, but in that case it won't be because of the degree, it'll be because you schmoozed like a mofo and got some connections.

Now, if you go in heavy on something non-Christian and dual-majored or qualified as fluent in something like Arabic, well... there might be something in that. Almost always someone that can use a good translator.

Uncut Hebrew is the only way to get the real high, maan. That king James shit is laced with like, medieval politics and bad translations and shit. It'll fuck you up. Go original.

PRIVACY TENTS
That... actually looks pretty nice, if entirely too large to fit into any dorm I've roomed in. I had a raised bed a couple times (think bunk bed with the lower bunk just gone. Wish to fook I could find a good seller of those that didn't price gouge like a m'fooker, because they are flipping wonderful for small rooms.) where I would stick the computer/work desk under it and occasionally drape blankets from the bed itself to block shit out. Light, TV, room mate's debauchery, whatever. It's soothing, and makes it easy to hide disorganization/mess from roomies' company. Same concept, just juryrigged.

In personal wtf, was bringing in some peanuts still on the vine that were dropped off. Wasn't much, but as I was picking up one of the last bunches that were laying near the ground, something like fifteen millipedes dropped out of the mess. I was somewhat surprised! Mostly by quantity. Millipedes flipping everrywhere.

Heh. Last time I was in a courthouse (riding along with folks picking up someone), the cop on duty at the metal detector just kinda'... waved folks through. Especially the lawyers, but other folks as well. Thing was going off constantly, too. But no ID checks or anything, noope.

Small town though, yeah, closest court to th'house. Pop of about 2.5k, services pretty much the county as a whole.

Reply: Padding. Then the pincers are only a boon.

So like... does that work with other insects? Fleas, maybe? They're dead now (turns out the neurotoxin apparently just took a couple days to kill off the stragglers or somethin'), but for future reference...

I forgot which game it was, but one JRPG had a fully voiced intro movie song.
Belated chime in, but... Tales of Phantasia. Actually what I was talking about when I mentioned the voice acting :P

Definitely one of the greats that didn't make it overseas during the period. We got... PSX and gba versions later, I think.

Battle Clash, maybe? Lots of giant robot fights in that one. Was actually a really good shooting gallery game.

Weren't too many super scope games, and the only other one I remember with robots was a terminator game.

And serious mode, the most technically impressive SNES games would probably have to be one of the following: Star Fox, Pilotwings, or Yoshi's Island.
Japanese were hiding some stuff from us. Like voice acting. Starfox 2 (beta was leaked, at least. Good stuff). Who knows what else. Some of the tale end stuff that was seriously technically capable just never got localized before SNES stuff stopped being sold elsewhere.

You have to have at least some idea what you're looking for, though. Many of our younger bretheren... don't. Have that. They've been largely inundated with modern culture, which... has some commercialisation issues? More than previously? Aggressive commercials, twenty-four/seven, drowning out... everything. Or something. I'unno. Internet access alone isn't quite enough.

Incredibly strong facilitator, though, and stocked full of us older folks that actually were like, there and crap.

I still have my super Mario kart, uh, cart, laying around. SNES broke long ago, but I've still got the game. Somewhere or another, heh.
