@Starver: Dude(tte), the last driving game I played was in like '97, '98. Something like that. It had been years since the last time I played one when I got my license. It was mostly just knowing the whole turn-wheel-other-way-when-reversing thing that games taught me.

As for failure rates, I have no clue. Wouldn't even know where to look. Being a bit more fair, I don't even know how representative that test is for the rest of the state... just that it was sufficient to get a permit. So it might not be as bad in areas that can't be acceptably described as bumfuckistan, for all that it matters when all that means is taking a trip to the more lax areas.

@RK: Yeah, lil'amazing the death count isn't higher, innit? Primary reason I even bothered to go through the course is so I would be (will be, anyway) able to carry a knife legally. Mind you, basically the entire male population in my area (and a good chunk of the female population, too) carry decently sized knives as a matter of course anyway, regardless of permit. Being fair, they do come in handy pretty often. Not just for stabbing people things, either!

And yeah, that's part of the reason that insidious urge for a highscore occasionally pops up while driving. Extra points if you can get another car to take out some civvies instead. Skillshot equivalent, y'ken?

I actually don't know, though I'd imagine so. Then again... maybe not. The Florida permit isn't valid in all states, though... a lot of concealed carry permits don't cross borders, or only cross some. So you could likely get one if you're from out of state, but it might not cover your area.

And belated to RK, down here in Florida, at least, you don't actually have to take a training course to get a driver's liscense. Just pass the test. I've never been in drivers ed, any equivalent, or even really fucking taught anything about driving (the totality of my driving knowledge prior to obtaining the liscense was almost stictly observation... and video games.) and the idiots still handed one out to me. No accidents yet, but I neither drink nor am addicted to speeding or ever in any particular hurry. Most of the primary causes are thusly avoided :P

Stuff like that's why I'm a little agreeable toward stronger regulation, especially regarding qualification, heh.

Heeheeheehee... want to know what Florida's concealed carry course was? A 45 minute or so lecture, followed by an eight or so question true/false test -- where all the answers were true -- and firing a round from a pistol into a target in the back room of the gunshop that was hosting it. That, a $200 processing free on the background check/paper work, and you're done if you the clear the check.

Competence check it was not. Blindfolded drunk idiot, etc., etc.

Eh... English can say just about anything with one word, once it gets around to either making that word up or stealing it from some other language that's already using it. I... I guess it's a sort of advantage?

Why does age and gender mean a bloody thing when it comes to enjoyment? What's fun and pleasing is fun and pleasing. Society's age expectations for R&R can go bugger themselves with a rusty spork. If there were adult sized jungle gyms in the park, I'd be crawling around the damn things. Muttermuttermumblemumble.

What's really fun is to put two circles beside each other on a page, and then cross -- well, it's more like slightly unfocus than actually cross, really -- your eyes just enough that they overlap. After a few tries, you can actually do neat shit like write half a word in one circle, the other half in the other, and be able to read it clearly when they overlap, or start playing around with other shapes, half shapes (each half separated by distance, then your refocus to view the shape as whole), so forth, so on.

It's actually a kinda' neat way to pass the time, you can do it with crap like the cracks between bricks on brick walls and stuff. Anything with the same shape in relatively close vicinity, or complementary shapes similarly. I've heard some silly shit about it getting your brain's hemispheres to work together or something, but I've some doubt as to whether there's any weight to that. Still a neat trick though~

Je ne parle pas anglais. Vrai? Mais non. Or something. I can still count to ten, damnit, and find telecharger on a webpage, and that's 98% of what I've used french for since my two years of dual enrollment in high school. It is sufficient.

Yes! The forums don't exist! Please let it be so... But seriously, let's all agree that it's sarcasm, as I have no intention of using Hanslanda as a blood cannon anytime soon.
What the buggery... is "blood cannon" some kind of euphemism? Because it sounds like one.

Buggery hell. Open shed/barn thing to get something out and find a trio of dead kittens laying on the floor of the thing. Still fairly fresh and in one piece (i.e. it could have been much worse/messier), but m'mood could have done without that.

Well, that. Also, while I'm all for apportioning blame, let us make sure we apportion blame fully and to all involved, not just the most visible. If we are to blame, we must blame the school system, the politicians that cripple it, the parents that don't notice or care their children are uneducated, or are unable to do anything about, the society that engenders this state of ignorance, and finally the people themselves.

Gods only know I wish I could shift all the blame onto someone else (High school did almost everything in its power to cripple me for higher education and actual society), ultimately, the knowledge is there if you seek to find it. To not have it is to not want it, or at the very best not have the will and energy to find it.

Vaguely hilarious, but one of the B12 ARAMs I specced had Eve going something like 12/6 and either first or second on 'er team in kills. I... I couldn't really figure out how her player was doing it :P Those spike things were getting spammed constantly though...

Out of curiosity for ARAMs... are they genuinely all random, or just heroes you have/are free?

Pwwaegf. Puh way giff? I've seen worse.

I'd imagine considerably more than just 100%, though UK's rates probably aren't zero (exotic pets, etc.).

Man, I've fired up the lawnmower at six before. I'm constantly tempted to do it around four or five AM, actually, just as the sun's rising. Possibly earlier if I've got the lighting for it from somewhere else. Only the chance of noise level crimes or whatever stops me.

Because noon? In Florida? Ahahahaha, your sleep is not worth that.

... but seriously, 8 is early? Nono. Two is early. Five is fairly standard (go to sleep at nine, get eight hours). The sun comes up then during the summer.

Actually, I'm cool with explosions and heavy metal. The higher quality stuff, anyway. It's basically just TV.

But yeah, if I ever get a chance to just wander around, China'd be up there on the list of places to wander. Whichever part's coldest and/or most heavily forested.
