General Discussion / Re: God damn it California.

However I'm sure these lot at least had the courtesy to do some research? Hopefully?
Research from a politician? You jest, even if you may not realize it :-\

If there's one thing that's near universally bipartisan, it's ignorance of the issue being legislated upon. I guess it's sorta' understandable. If they actually took the time to do their goddamn job, they wouldn't be able to campaign enough to get re-elected, or elected in the first place. No time for research, too busy blowing people for votes!

Anyway. See what happens if the bill passes, is my stance. Doesn't really matter until that happens, t'me. Wrong side of the country, and Cali's a bit more sane than Florida anyway. Not a good measure to see how things would go down on this end, but a possibly good test case to see what happens if something like that does go through.

I've found chicken's pretty good at soaking up juices if it's already well cooked... enough that it's fairly dry. I'll pretty regularly overcook chicken and then cut a fair number of small incisions into it (or a fairly large one going long ways) and dribble various sauces into the holes, then let it sit for a bit -- returns juiciness and adds flavor at the same time. Is good, t'me. I do like my meat a little gnaw-y, though, so yer milage obviously may vary.

Yeah, pretty much. It does nothing good -- doesn't help team coherancy, never gives good advice (if it's excessive, it's pretty much necessarily failed at communication, precluding any possibility of usefulness), does nothing to improve anyone's playing experience.

The person(s) indulging in it might be getting off, so to speak, but that particularly sort of belligerent verbal masturbation has little to nothing to do with the game itself. Just their own, somewhat twisted, psychology.

Not much else to say, I think.

Heh, I'll use e.g. when I'm being a bit more... formal, if you will. Ferex is easier to type, though, especially on this shitiPad, and fits a lil' more smoothly when I'm already butcherin' bits of the language. S'good to be somewhat consistently inconsistent, yeh?

But yeah, I haven't played TomeNet much... barely at all, really. S'just one of the few MP roguelikes I have played. That are still running, anyway... there's been a few angband based MUDs, of all things, that were defunct last time I check on 'em. Then a few I noticed in development that I never really checked out. Eh.

And getting together proper kit in most *band variants (TNet included there) can be a right pain in the arse, yeah. S'a reason the only one I've won is Furyband (and that reason was the chargeable ego, to a large degree.).

Bastardization of "for example." Fer ex. Ferex. Fairly sure there's no games using it as an acronym or title, but I wouldn't be entirely surprised if there was one, somewhere out there. Apologizes for any confusion not that it'll stop me from using it :P

No trumpets and saxes in death metal. No.
As for cowbell i heard goregrind song that had really farm-like vibe to it, cant remember how i found it and how was it called.
Trumpets go in anything and everything. No exceptions. If it didn't work out, you weren't trying hard enough.

Sax is roughly in the same situation. Sax solo can improve any genre. Any.

Almost as versatile as the accordion, really. Almost.

Finally finished writing all instruments to a song(First song finally complete hooray, and its good!), now got to hope that drummer will be able to play this and dont want to put in his part instead.
It feels like it needs more bass man, do you understand where im coming from with this? :P
Tell drummer to suck it up and follow tempo.
Bass nothing, bring on the brass. Needs more trumpet and sax. Drummer can blow th'french horn all the way 'till the song's climax.

Is... is there anything wrong with it being just an interesting puzzle? Puzzle or not, GSB was enjoyable t'me. Don't really care what semantics decides it's called so long as I'm entertained, y'know? S'long as the price is right for the product, I'm good.

Still, let's see what dev says, yeh? Don't really know what the product is, yet :P

Depends pretty heavily on the teacher and the class... some of them, tests are pretty much the only thing that heavily effects your grade (Though, do note: If the teacher's worth a shit, your high school test taking strategies will not work.).

Others, homework-type stuff is a significant portion of the grade, and you're screwed if you don't stay on top of it.

Regardless, staying on top of it (again, caveatted by a decent teacher, who's actually assigning stuff on the basis it'll expand your understanding of the topic) is going to seriously impact your ability to pass the classes, to say nothing of actually learning the material (tremendously more important than actually getting a good grade, t'be honest).

Though, being fair, as Dice says, most of that doesn't apply to lower level, general education stuff. Just the stuff once you're actually in your degree and working with higher level material.

Race as difficulty? *coughroguelikescough* Some of which (ToMENet, ferex) are multiplayer or have a competitive aspect (Nethack, crawl tournies). There are folks that intentionally gimp themselves (by picking "weaker" options) so they can laugh at the scrubs when they beat said scrubs into the ground, or play the weaker race simply because they find it more attractive, for whatever reason. They might not end up able to compete on the highest level of play as those races, but neither can better than 90% of the playerbase regardless of what they pick so I wouldn't really call that something to particularly care about :P

Which is to say it's a valid (valid enough, anyway) design decision, even for multiplayer. Remains to be seen if starbound'll go that route, though.

What about Aberpanapopuma?

I thought we were going to show these Celts how do their own city names properly.

Yes. This.
Seconded.

Yeah, there's a dota champ (Blood something or other, iirc) that has an ability that deals damage based on how much you move while under its effect. As I vaguely remember HoN mostly just ripping everything straight for DotA (has that got any better over time?), I imagine it's in there, too.

LoL does have a couple abilities based on stuff like that... Vayne's passive, Tryn's shout-thingy, maybe more. Dashes/MS buffs are less powerful than pulls, though, so it's kinda' understandable why pulls aren't used quite as much. Harder to balance around. Not an argument against their use, per se, but a fair reason they're not as common.

Constructing improvements is supposed to consume Gatherers, but in this case it doesn't. Odd.
I noticed it depends on the improvement! If you've got higher tech stuff (camp instead of scavenger (iirc) camp, ferex), the gatherer can use that instead and not get ate by it. It's only the lower tech stuff that includes a "will consume unit" bit, so it's not something unique to the gatherers but instead the improvements they build.

Ah. That first one's... a bit of a WTF, I guess. Still won't look, but how exactly do they get from mr. Rogers to entitled kids? I vaguely remember the show as more of a friendship/caring/positive message of Jesus sort of thing than an "I Deserve SUV" thing.

As for the second, reality TV. Dim view of that stuff, yeah. Monetizing peoples suffering, which is what most of them do, more or less, is pretty sickening.
