Initially, yeah.
Anyway, not much to say about stat tracking. Honestly, multiplayer games in general -- including in the flesh ones -- have a general tendency to just have a really shitty atmosphere for folks that aren't exactly hypercompetative, or are even remotely sympathetic to their fellow man. Good sportsmanship has always been a bit of a farce, extending back into perpetuity, so far as I've been able to tell.
S'always assholes ruining other peoples fun for whatever reason. Most stat tracking does is give 'em another thing to harp on, really. I just make myself comfortable with whatever /ignore feature games have and don't use VoIP. Not that I could anyway, lacking a microphone, but whatever.
