Prison's... pretty much never the better option if there's a way to avoid it. The four years sound stressful as hell, but compared to two of outright hell followed by, what, a sixth or seventh of your entire life with the constant threat of being thrown back in? Four years sounds like a good idea. Try not to let the frustration influence your decision making, if you can. Obviously easier said than done, but...

Pretty much everything I've heard of says that avoiding prison time is just flat out the best thing you can do, even if it's causing some pretty hefty stress in the interim.

Do you have a legal advisor or something? Can you talk to them?

I'm sure plenty of Bay12 has read this article already.  I've been seeing it passed around a lot the last couple days.  Going to post it here, anyway.  It should be required reading for everyone on the planet.

Global Warming's Terrifying New Math

I'm pretty well convinced that we are fucked.  I have very little hope for the future.  I sincerely regret having children, because it's painful to imagine the world they'll almost certainly be facing as they near adulthood.
oh hey, it's worse than we had predicted

Pretty much no one in the even most remotest of know is surprised, I imagine :-\ Honestly, I don't know what to say. A good three quarters or so of the people I've talked to with a fair grasp of the situation re:warming have just been kinda'... resigned. I mean, there's sorta' hope and usually passion to attempt change, but it's always underwritten by an air of, "Well, fuck. How the hell are we actually going to manage to do anything? Was too late when we first noticed, much less now, right? Please, someone say otherwise. Please."

At my more vindictive, I can only guess the bastards in power expect to be dead before everything goes tits up and the rest of the world rightly decides to kill them.

At my less, well. Future conditions factored in to the whole will-not-breed thing. Just hope they pass away of old age before shit goes too far south, SG. That's currently my plan, t'be honest. Die before it goes over the tipping point. Maybe do a little bit to try and influence things for the better, but... I'm quite seriously not sure what short of outright and coordinated violence would have a sufficient effect at this point.

Maybe greater protests, I'unno. One of the bigger problems is that the major powers continued insistence of not doing anything meaningful speaks of a mindset that just... I can't really adequately describe it. Worse, I'm not sure how to adequately communicate with it, to the extent those people actually and meaningfully shift their behavioral patterns. The prospecting thing mentioned in the article is a good example. 100 million a month into finding more unrenewable resources. Invest that into research and production of renewable resources and you have an investment that will theoretically pay off infinitely (effectively so, anyway).

And yet... instead of doing that, or investing nearly that much into a goddamn immortal golden goose, they're throwing all their money at the syphilitic cancer ridden goose that has the golden runs and have cut eternal dividends entirely out of the budget. It's just... not a mindset I can comprehend, really, and I don't know how to communicate with it. If someone I employed came to me and told me that it was a good idea to completely ignore investing in a market that could entirely likely pay off more in the long run than the entire history of my industry multiplied, and which we could invest in easily and still be goddamn ludicrously wealthy, I would fire that sumbitch right then and there. In these people's minds, that's somehow a position to agree with and promote.

How do you bridge that sort of gap?

However, I can guarantee magic is never going to make an appearance in the game, I'm afraid :(.
!!!

Haven't been keeping too much up with the thread, but... plans for magic were dropped?

Yes. How to tea.

Tea involves actually making the cups of tea to a high standard. that and knowing what not to do.
Well... yes. Tea ceremony and suchlike involves that, aye. Just hadn't seen tea used as a verb before :P

Is there a more, uh. Formal? Term for it? Just tea is a little too easy to juvenile, heh.

The consequences for failing to tea are dire.

...

WASTED TEA.
Silliness! Even improperly tea'd tea is still drinkable. Even sullied, we as tea drinkers have a holy compact to consume it anyway.

... unless you mixed it with cheap hot chocolate and it's just goddamn foul. That's forgivable. No other excuses! Except good ones.

25250
How to... tea?

Also, can't really afford month of food money on single game :(

Will remember recommendation, though~

Since it's something else entirely being called a bullfrog. Hint: I'm in Florida, i.e. a swamp. What common-ish reptile can get larger than a small river boat?

To be a bit more explicit,
This is why you don't get drunk and take your six year old out gator gigging at three AM.

aaaaah, so when they try to avoid paying you, all they need to do is get you booze!

you are a dwarf. I admire you.
Only if it's really high quality booze. The kind can turn around and sell for enough to cover the bill.

Damn straight you can pay in booze if it's 2k USD to the bottle and has a live market.

25253
Accidentally went into this thread, but... you people and your silly normal phobias.

Frumple is phobic of boats. Not because of the water, no. I can swim fine, and love water. I'm phobic of boats because every time I get in or contemplate getting in one, the back of my head starts screaming neurotically about the absolute fact that there's something in the water that is A. Bigger than the boat, B. Going to be referred to as a bullfrog, and C. Is going to be attached to the boat by a sharpened piece of metal by a drunk bastid.

This is why you don't get drunk and take your six year old out gator gigging at three AM.

I'm not afraid of "bullfrogs" either. You'd think there'd be some lingering dread of the pissed off reptile that was larger than the boat, but nope! Just boats. Size of boat doesn't matter. Fucking cruise liner? No go. Goddamn bullfrog in the ocean and some nitwit is going to simultaneously piss it off and connect it to the boat.

Honestly, it's probably just habit. They default to asking about the paper simply because that's what they normally do over a phone... probably just run into people not if front of a computer with enough regularity it becomes the default for them.

Either that or they don't realize you're in front of a computer, I guess. You might be overestimating them when you say they know you're at computer :P

Also entirely possible they're more used to dealing with people that have a preference for writing stuff like that down instead of typing it in, o'course.

Only primary access to the Internet right now is an iPad, and the only thing I can currently use on it is Safari. Hoops to jump I won't be able to jump for a bit before chrome access becomes a possibility :-\

In other words, it's a hardware limitation more than software. I'd ideally be on Opera (I actually don't really like Chrome :P) and a real computer, which wouldn't have a problem even if it were oversized.

Anyway, carry on, carry on.

It... might depend on what A was defined as. I don't think I'd like to go into details, but there's probably stuff involving a single person and accessories, ferex, that might not fit in A but would definitely fit in B, depending on exactly how the concept of "sexual intercourse" and "deviate" were identified. In other words, there's acts you might not want to really call sexual intercourse, but would definitely fit under the umbrella of deviate... something.

Would think they'd use a different word for B, but maybe there's some legal technicality behind it.

Oh, yeah, using sticky flame and conjure flame on post lair uniques is pretty suicidal. Sorry thought you were talking about a tad earlier (although I suppose I shouldn't have since you said post-fireball)
Th'odd DGFE I won with was using sticky flame as a staple right on up through Zot, including on uniques :P

You do have to be pretty particular about what you use it on though, of course. If the thing can melt you in melee, obviously don't flipping get close to it. If it can't, though, sticky's quite mana economical from what I can remember. Drop it on 'em early in the fight and the damage'll add up pretty high.

And yeah, OoD's great. I loved using it to knock down walls running up from Zot with the orb. Problem being sometimes you just don't have the book for it, heh. Demigod's a bit of a special case regarding that, though.

Thin mints kinda' meh. Now, there's other stuff that you can roll with to great effect, I do believe. It's better when they're chewy and half melted in that situation (mind you, this is true, IMO, of cookies in all situations. Soft cookie >>> hard cookie.), and a thin mint doesn't melt as well as a chocolate chip that's the size of your head, as much chocolate as chip, and probably smothered with marshmallow cream, what I currently identify as the ultimate in bedplay confectionaries. There's probably something specialized that's better, but I haven't seen anything over the counter.

Though I guess I could see a sort of thin mint clip. Two pressing together, or whatev'. Glad this is in the WTF thread because mind going in strange places probably not appropriate for forum guidelines. Stopping before it gets worse.

25259
Oh yes, I've done that one too, and seen quite a lot of hard suits stuck off the edge, they really should get rid of those railings and add a crosswind.
Better, hee hee.

Maybe a little smaller? In the system view, this buggery browser only shows the LA in whatever's to the right of Altair III. Bit more when I'm replying, oddly. Cuts off about a pixel or two to the right of the M in improvement.

Also, thread title. You're. Or you are, I guess.
