Holy fuck, this game is awesome. How do you beat the Reaver boss on the third floor as a dwarf berserker? He keeps ripping me to shreds. :(
Zerker should just faceroll 'im, but if that innit working...

... do what I do about half the time nowadays. Let brotoq aggro the meat shield dwarf, and just walk right the fook past. You can take the stairs out while brotoq's still alive :P

Re: Reaver, I don't think much has changed, except getting overkill -- which is nice, but not really game changing. Reavers have always been pretty decent, just kinda' flimsy (which get offset later with plate armor and suchlike). They dole out ridiculous amounts of damage in melee and have decent enough ranged damage and debuff. They're fairly sexy, really.

If it takes more than one hit for <spam attack> to kill something, comboing is ridiculously easy :P

For witches, at least, spewing magic missile at everything started hitting 90+% regularly at around sky tower or whatever that is, once it stopped one-shotting everything. Presumably male mages do roughly the same thing.

Melted chocolate into peanut butter and honey sammich. Verdict: Positive, if messy.

Though the messy was due to the pb&h more than the chocolate. It gets... runny... when warm.

At least previously in the thread the server thing mentioned was Selona, or something like that. That's the one my nascent critters are running around in, anyway.

The scientific answer is because it's a hell of a lot colder up there than it is down here.
Need... need a ladder. A really big ladder.

Or, like, a car jack, except for a state. So I can move florida up there. If can't bring cold to state, bring state to cold.

This, I will admit. Hemmingjay has a disturbingly large amount of non-holiday cheer to spread around. Despite not winning this one, jay, I salute you for this. You make life better for gamers everywhere.
Echo echo echo.

Gratzies, winnerpeople, and echo again.

Summon monster I, along with most of the summoning spells, and a few others, such as fire shield and teleport, have dialogue boxes that appear when you click on the spell. You can then click on the subspell in the dialogue box to cast that subspell, or drag the subspell onto the quick-bar to use like a normal spell. Summon monster has a limit of one monster at a time, if you cast the spell while a monster from a previous casting is still active, then the previous one will disappear and the new one will appear.
Yeah, clicked the sub spell in dialogue box... repeatedly, in different situations, only for absolutely nothing to happen :-\

Will have to try the quick bar next time I play. Two-weapon fighter is fun but I wanted to summonspam :(

Sorc is doing alright, though I've got the nasty suspicion the game will be somewhat different after getting off the island thing. Sorc tanking everything and spamming that eternal wand seems... off. Mostly because crap's not killing me for blasting things in the face with a wand as a first level caster.

Throwing in for GSB like most everyone else :P

Favorite scifi is hard, though... while I've read a lot of actually published stuff, I don't tend to rank my writers to a heavier degree than 'good, readable, and not good'. And lately I've read more fanfiction than anything, so...

So. The three most recent writers I've read that are at least mostly scifi: Capn Chryssalid, who has done some X-Com crossovers and has a collaboration fic over a million words (under a different author name, Chryssalid Lathis), EarthScorpion, whose two Aeon fics are utterly delicious Cthulhutech/Neon Genesis Evangelion crossovers, and lastly Academia Nut, who has done some wonderful things with Eva and war hammer 40k. Fellow's also got a number of other fics hanging around places like the space battles forum, but those are a bit harder to find.

... and yes, I like "soft" scifi, stuff that borders on fantasy or crosses right over cheerfully whistling a tune. Like hard scifi, too, but it's harder finding good fan fiction that involves that :P

I've read my Asimov and etc, it's just been a while, heh.

You do not need omnispell dust.
I don't know how many times I've had to tell that to partypeople. You only need one of the ingredients, unless it say you need all of them. It is only a skip ingredients option, and you have to use turbine points on it so its far more useful to just get the normal ingredients.
Yeah, that's what I thought, what the tooltip implied... except trying to cast SMI continuously does jack. Thinking on it... are... are you supposed to put the specific creature in your hot bar or something? I guess the better question is just "How blazes do use summon monster?" Squishy sorc could use meat shield between it and whatever spewing fire wand at, at moment.

As questions go, how does the per day stuff work? M'fire wand wuzzit on the sorcerer said 50/day, but I managed to recharge a lot more than fifty charges in a 24 hour period...
Uses per day are in reference to in game rests. So if you use a rest shrine, hang out in a bar for a while or complete a quest they will recharge.
Ah, the actual D&D way of doing it... cooee. That's terribly useful, heh.

Next step: Figuring out how to get awesome staff from fighter to sorc :P

Giving this a go as Thejil One Eye and Dhoorm Pinkmane, a dwarf sorcerer and fighter, respectively. S'pretty doubtful I'll be very active, though, after... well, today. Bleh. Have got further with the fighter so far... can't seem to find that omnispell dust stuff on the k-whatever island, so sorcerer critter-spam has been... curtailed.

Depending on the import, I would be heavily inclined to, yes. Extent of inclination would vary based on exactly what was blocked, though. If it was only somewhat important, I'd merely have an urge to remove a toe or something. If the call would have saved the life of a family member if it'd got through, well. Well. Into the well, in pieces~

Anyway, be civilized and spam email accounts or something instead. Those are easier to ignore and less likely to get in the way of something potentially important.

Are... are you a telemarketer?

Boring Frumple just embarks on glacier, hoee. Slightly more interesting Frumple embarks on glacier besides ocean, then makes all the rooms out of a thermally conductive metal. Slightly less interesting, but still more interesting than boring, Frumple just mods his dwarves to be made from ice :P

Icedwarves actually more interesting, I guess. Will have to do that again at some point...

Throwing in for Avernum 6, via steam if possible. E:Or... or the bundle it's in, I guess, if feeling particularly generous. Just 6 is good too, though.

Biggest problem with telemarketers t'me is that their annoying could end up blocking an actually important call. I'd be heavily inclined toward maiming someone if they managed to cut ahead of a call from th'hospital or the cops or somethin' re: a family member or friend that got hurt.

Sure, the chances of it happening are vanishingly small, but it's there, and it's exponentially higher than the chance of me actually buying anything from them.

Unsolicited advertising, especially that's coming in'ta m'home, is... unpleasant. Especially when it's not through something providing some sort of service (websites, TV), to boot. Only bright side to telemarketers is at least it means someone's got a job and might be making at least a little money. It's something. At least when they're not just replaced with an autocaller or whatev'. Guess the technicians keeping it running get something...?

Sudden realization that "Fuzzy Wuzzy Was a Bear" would probably make a solid lyric base for a deathmetal song. Mind vaguely blown.

Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't very fuzzy, was he-aaaaarrrrhhhh!! *heavy guitar, screaming*

Wait, wait, re: robot cars. Didn't google or something already manage to get an autonomous car cross country (in the US)? Could have sworn I heard about that a bit back. E: Checked up. Was apparently 140k or so combined driving miles between multiple vehicles with only a single accident -- in which one of them got rear-ended at a stop light, by a human controlled vehicle -- at the time the article in question was written.

Doesn't really mean much, per se, regarding full automation (of all traffic, not just a single vehicle), but it's something.
