Talkin' 'bout Slash'em? It's basically a nethack mod with graphics. Haven't really played it, so dunno about the statues.

But still I cannot remember if ADOM is the game I am thinking of or not. Ohh I know!

Does ADOM have a tourist class?
Nope. Nethack does, but it's about the only major roguelike that has a tourist class, iirc. Now, there's many other RLs that nod at nethack's tourist, but none of the other major ones do it, I think.

Gluttony's up there, too. The rest are kinda' unpleasant, really, but gluttony, lust, and sloth are sins I can get behind.

Doesn't help that I keep forgetting what one of them is. Those three, then pride, wrath, and envy. There's one more, but by the gods I can never remember it. Even when I'm listening to the flogging molly song.

ADOM always felt complete to me...

What exactly am I funding?

Also WHY would I EVER fund a true blue roguelike? They are games based around reading FAQs and Wikis to beat... and while there are exceptions, ADOM isn't one of them.

Or is ADOM the Dungeons and dragons one...

Hmmm
Hey, be fair. Almost all roguelikes, including ADOM, have been beat strictly spoiler free before. No wikis, no faqs. It just takes a ridiculously longer amount of time, usually :P Though there's some roguelike mad people who pick up new RLs and just demolish them out of habit, but I half suspect some of them are either nascent AIs or dark gods from beyond the edge of space.

Forget how many attempts it took that guy that no-spoiled nethack. Can't remember if it was over two or twenty thousand games, hah. But the dude did it. Took several years, but 'e did it.

There's a couple exceptions to that rule, though. I don't think anyone managed to crack IVAN until they code dived, but IVAN's kinda hostile toward anything resembling sane play.

Anyway, check the other thread to see what it's supposed to fund. General answer seems to be OS-compatibility update and more content, iirc.

The major dnd roguelike is Incursion, not ADOM. Probably a few others, but that's the most complete one I know of. Inc's definitely winnable without spoilers, though, and in a fairly sane time frame. The manual's very clear and most of mechanics are quite transparent. Only took me a couple dozen splats before I won my first Inc game, heh.

I've done something silly, ahaha. Main computer user's gone for several days, so I've rearranged everything to be able to sit at silly desk thing comfortably. This entailed moving the massage chair thing to be used as a seat... which didn't really fit under the desk. Not a big deal for the keyboard, but with the mouse it was pretty awkward... for a bit I was using the comfychair's arm rests to hold the mouse pad. Kinda' annoying.

So! I moved the previous computer chair, a fairly plain wooden one, to sit beside the comfychair, then stacked up a number of books (Including such luminaries as a couple of volumes of the encyclopedia of philosophy and a pair of phonebooks) until it was high enough to comfortably place the mouse. I am now supremely comfortable and ready to compvege for like, the next 36 hours or so.

It's times like this that I really do enjoy being an environment raping human. It prepares us well for little adjustments like this~

Alternatively, buildcraft at least has means to automate building, so...

Bit slower, but more clumsy (initial setup stuff), but you can still avoid the block by block thing.

Well... assuming ?FCritter is actually a he. Or singular. There's several SRWs that have multiple ?FCs, of varying genders (or lack thereof, in a couple of cases, iirc). Can make for fun times.

Wrong sub forum, as Karlito notes. Also, there's already a thread for this.

Sounds like battle realms or its sequel... or seven years war, a Warcraft clone. Actually, it's probably the latter -- battle realms was a bit different, though it did have the rice/corn thing.

Pretty well said, MSH. The particularly poignant part t'me was the last bit, specifically because any actual analysis shows that, if the so-called religious enemies actually are out to get us... there is precisely jack and shit the US could do about it. It's... it's a line of reasoning where the only true options are sucide (to prevent eventual unavoidable torture, catch 22'd by th'old condemnation 'gainst self-slaughter) or praying for apocalypse, which causes some goddamn horrible psych reactions in a person.

Me, I can understand that line of thought very easily... the only problem is that the only rational action I can derive from it is killing myself or actively working with said enemies as a means to minimize harm to self and family. It's basic strategy, really. If you can't obtain victory, you do what you can to minimize loss. You could make a case for doing as much damage as possible to your opponent... but in this case, that would accomplish literally nothing of import. Temporary damage and naught else. Even something like nuclear war would just end you right in hell, either for suicide or the murder of innocents.

It's not a case of The Way Things Are being the only way, with that scenario. It's a case of there being literally no way.

There's just no way out of that axiomatic basis. That, is one my stronger reasons for rejecting it.

Sponge or wet cloth... something like that. I've found most of the cats I've had to do something like that to doesn't really mind it so long as it's localized and not actually involving immersion. Actual bath, faucet stream, or shower spray is a good way to gain some new holes in your arms. Not looking at video, though :P

Black Sigil on the DS is a definite JRPG and fairly interesting. You've got the dragon quest line, too... including the monsters stuff. Caravan for the GBA was fantrans'd a while back, and it's pretty decent if you cheat the food mechanic away :P

As for PC JRPGs, well... there's some flash ones! Also Septerra Core. Which is about the only non-emulated JRPG I've personally noticed on the PC... barring rpg maker stuff. Supposedly there's some damn good ones made with those things, but I've never really got around to playing them. The spirit engine games might count, I'unno. There's a few more I'm forgetting, actually... hrm. There were a couple supposedly good indie PC JRPG-ish games made, like... five, six years ago? Something with an A involved? In the title. There was a sequel. Man, I dunno :-\

What... what's so strange about a phone cord? There's usually been at least one phone like that in the places I've been living the last many years. Usually some wireless ones too, but at least one wired phone just in case.

25394
Feed to cat, then. Obvious solution is obvious :P

We got bats in our attic, but we cant kill them because its a protected species :x
AKA, we need to spend more money to get them out of there, so they dont shit on everything.
Can't is a... strong word. I mean, you can cook bat, right? And there's gotta' be dogs or something in the area that like bones.

What I'm saying, mind, is that if there's no evidence...

*cough* Being serious, maybe there's something in the area that'd relocate the buggers at no cost? Maybe check a local university or animal shelter or somethin'. If they're protected, probably be someone that cares enough to keep them from becoming kebob.
