General Discussion / Re: WHOOOO HEALTH CARE RULED CONSTITUTIONAL
« on: June 29, 2012, 05:16:08 am »
You're still making incredibly heavy use of federal funded transport infrastructure -- that you even have Internet access necessitates that -- regardless, albeit not as directly as simply driving on them yourself. So, you're still paying for roads you never directly use and will never see, one way or another.

Will admit I've never bothered to check where that money gets funded in, though, so whatev'. Still, comes from federal money, you're being taxed one way or another for it.

I think I'll file it away as one of those "Cool to try once I have health insurance" things.
Hey, I've seen a sixty year(ish) old grandma survive a cup of single-brew'd stuff -- that purple mountain dew from a while back and honey/lemon/ginseng green tea.

I haven't tried sequential boiling/steeping cycles, though. I... yeah, being honest, that's maybe dangerous, I'unno. Wouldn't mind consulting a doctor about it, if only to see the look of horror. Still, I can't imagine it'd be much worse than multi-brewed coffee, unless something in the soda turns toxic after being heated/cooled/heated multiple times. Once is safe, though, at least for occasional consumption.

Doubtful it's much dirtier than the bed, at least if the cleaning staff is doing job (and if they're not, probably even less difference). If that's problem, though, you just lay down a towel or two or whatev'. Maybe cover a section with a blanket if you need more space. Don't need mattress to make bed, is what saying.

25429
But then you don't get the sugar! And whatever else is in it. It's not just about the caffeine, after all.

25430
About half the hotels I've stayed in, the floor was more comfortable than the bed. Carpeted floor is usually pretty comfy, imo. So, uh. Requisition pillows and blankets, make nests?

25431
Maybe I should invent computer tech fuel...
Take a caffeinated drink. Boil it. Steep caffeinated tea. Consume. LIVE.

Crash like fuck 8-10 hours later. Not entirely sure the concoction would pass FDA regulations. If it would, well. Boil it and steep more tea. Repeat until in contravention of law, or the brew becomes undrinkable. Or maybe solid, I guess. I wonder if you could repeated boil it until it (the sugar and syrup, anyway) crystalized or something... maybe add some honey? Mountain dew tea candies. Hrm...

Anyone with better knowledge of making hard candies able to chime in?

Dammit weather! Half a day of work in the sweltering heat and now you're making it rain?

It makes me wanna go pious so that I can learn Weather Control.

At least it should cool off.
Heeheeheehee.

Well, maybe. Depends on if it's the rain that hates you, and does nothing but change the temp from hot to swelteringly hot. It's like a humidifier, only fueled by a raging hatred of mankind and possessing an effective range measured in miles (or kilometers, depending on your country).

Honestly, whiskey dick sounds like some kind of food. I... I have no idea why. Possibly because I just woke up and it's 5 AM (do not want to be awake, dammit).

Elemental damages are fine when they're more than just another few points of damage. Meaningful environmental interactions, status effects, major combat flow changes due to elemental effects... stuff like that is golden.

Most don't do that, or only do it to a certain degree -- ToME4's an example of the latter, in which there's a sort of tier system to elemental damage, a first tier that's just extra damage, and a second in which varying status debuffs or personal buffs are linked with the element. It's fairly graceful, as such things go, especially since the last weapon enchant rework further differentiated the tiers "niches" to a somewhat greater degree.

Ehn. Honestly, I'd give good odds that it's just that most of the classics and great notes in literary history are depressive as fuck. Deep, insightful, and something like 90% about either bad sex, death, or bigotry/xenophobia (or, of course, some combination of the lot). It's just not very... something. I'unno. It doesn't engage if you're not intrested in fighting doldrums for your literary fix.

Back to reading the rumia-gets-summoned-by-louise ZnT/Touhou crossover :P

E: Maybe try something like the Thousand Nights and a Night, or Romance of the Three Kingdoms or something. More zing, less social commentary and/or angst.

Need doesn't preclude want or do-anyway.

It... it's spotty. And depends on the police in question, heavily. I've watched 21 year olds walk into a store, buy a 12 pack or whatever, and walk out into the parking lot and begin distributing it to ~16 year olds, all while a cop was in the store, watching. Nothing happened. I also saw a few guys kicked out of the dorms I was in for storing drinks in their room while they were rooming with underaged folks.

Far as I know, buying the stuff is... somewhat strictly enforced, or at least not as lackadaisily enforced as other aspects, but in general it's just not something consistently enforced and can vary heavily based on place, situation, etc.

Now, caveat. All that is secondary observation and not very rigorous observation, t'boot. I've never drank despite being legal for a while now, so I haven't really paid attention to how strictly it's enforced. Take advice at own risk, and know that being a foreigner has a pretty strong likelihood of upping the chance and risk of being caught :-\

Nah, never roda an ATV before. I mean, I kinda expected it to be easier than a bike: after all, you've got twice the amount of wheels, amirite?
Nooot quite, at least as far as I know. Buggery things are pretty dangerous, it seems.

Well, let's keep things in perspective. They're only killing critical thought in Texas. Where it was already an endangered species cryptozoological myth.
Fixed for the even more uncharitable.

Being fair, there are some people stuck in that state due to jobs or whatever that's capable of critical thought, but...

Golems made of metal can be fixed in the forge (but I am not sure whether it is currently worth the trouble). You can also envelop golems/zombies with one-time frost effects... maybe there will be some more permanent inscriptions added later.
Yeah.. trouble with forge is just getting the golem to and from it, or visa versa, I guess. Permanent inscriptions would be awesome. Especially if you could like, overload them or something. Stack a bunch on a corpse, destabilize the whole thing, hop it up on some kind of haste-like spell and send it slamming into a nearby village the closest enemy. Arcanochromatic fallout Fun times!

In the meantime, kamikaze frost-bomb zombies will suffice :P I'll have to spend some time figuring out how to do that next time I sink some time into VoI.

Incidentally, I'm wondering about the possibility of sorta' lesser golems... grass, twigs, etc. Origami, tiny mud golem, whatever. Small, quick and cheap to make, flimsy, good to slap a timed explosion hex (assuming VoI can do that, heh) or some sort of distance viewing spell on and send it around the corner.

Possibly... possibly. Googling was having an easier time finding possibly illicit ebooks (and audio files!) of that thing than an actual physical copy.

It is entirely more likely both the publisher and the book retailer selling that particular 'unnard-fiddy monstrosity are jacking the price up, though. They do that, to an unholy and disgusting degree ::)
